    I solved the problem with two stubborn yarns! Crochet color pooling can be tricky but I don't like failure. After a bit of a time out, I was able to get these yarns to become beautiful checkered blankets.

    I tried color pooling a couple of years ago and it was a total fail. I completely gave up thinking pooling is just not for me. Whenever I saw a beautiful pooled blanket, I was so jealous but knew it was a waste of my time. You have been such an inspiration for me that I'm excited and ready to try again and say "You're next!"

    I'm curious to see what this technique looks like if you do use a more ombre style yarn instead of one with defined color changes. I'm sure you would want one with a gradual change so it doesn't look muddy in the clusters. Hmm 🤔

    @ItsTimeforYarn I have a Christmas yarn that I love and am excited to have a Christmas themed blanket. But the color changes are quick and the sequence consists of 10 color changes - all in red, green, and white - do you think it would work similarly to your purple checked blanket but in an argyle fashion? So far it looks like it’s making a striped looking pattern. I don’t want to give up on it yet because I love it. But wanted to get your insight.
    Color sequence = R (1 sts) W (2 sts) R (1sts) G (2sts) W (1sts) R (2 sts) G (1sts) R (2sts) W (1sts) G (2sts)

    You are the master! Our Ollie’s still has a ton of derby stripe.. I wanna be sure I can pool it before I buy it. So to start I would do 24 stitches of one color, then the second color then on the 3rd color would I turn at 12 (half way) or offset it with 11 or 13? Or do you have a video for that one? Lol.

    • @ItsTimeforYarn
      @ItsTimeforYarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! For the 1st row, I did 24 stitches with the first two colors of the colorway and then did 12 stitches of the 3rd before I turned around. The second row is 12 stitches of the 3rd color, 24 stitches of the 4th color, and 23 stitches of the 5th color with the 24th stitch being the first stitch of the 3rd row. Then I continued with 24 stitches of each color the rest of the way through. Hope this helps! 💜😁

    Unfortunately, the Bernat Blanket Color Pooling yarn is no longer available. I cant find that yarn anywhere as I love how it looked on the back of your couch. Joann's says it is not available and it isnt listed on Yarnspirations. I am sure that it can be done with two yarns but then it would be a different technique than color pooling.

    • @ItsTimeforYarn

      Oh no! It is such a nice yarn and makes a beautiful blanket. I feel like they didn’t provide enough direction for it so people who don’t know how to color pool had a hard time figuring it out. They could have done more to help people be more successful with it.

    • @ItsTimeforYarn
      @ItsTimeforYarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Thanks for watching!
      I pull the yarn out a little and look at the color changes. You want them to be long enough that you can get a stitch or two (in the moss stitch) or a cluster or two (in the granny stitch). You also need the colors to fall in a consistent pattern. I usually inspect s yarn as best I can in the store and then buy it to try at home. Most of the time I have success but every now and then I have a yarn that eludes me. 💜😁

    • @ItsTimeforYarn

      I don’t usually color pool with very long color changes. It makes it difficult to count the stitches for each color and it is also difficult to actually see the pattern. 😁💜

    So I just came across this video, i have that same purple yarn. I purchased it, because it says it is pooling yarn, but it has been a pain to get it to line up! It took me 40 times to finally get it. I do have a question about the color? I thought by looking at pics that it is purple and black, but mine kinda looks like black that someone poured bleach on. So is your dark color more like a brown than a black?

    Ew! No grey to join those bright colors. It will not bring them together like taking a base blue or some other deep color from the color palette presented in that colorful yarn. It does not need a "neutral". It needs a primary like blue. Maybe a secondary if there is a deep true purple, but gray? No. Don't do it....
