CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Commander Data (Brent Spiner) and Anij (Donna Murphy) investigate a holographic ship.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Star Trek: Insurrection manages to recall the original 1960s series' spirit of liberalism, while transcending it for sheer boldness, embracing issues that are on the political cutting edge in the 1990s and beyond. The fact that the first 30 minutes are presented as a mystery only makes the material more engrossing. While assisting a survey team of Federation allies observing the populace of a distant planet, Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner) seemingly goes berserk and attacks the survey team, exposing their existence to the populace and jeopardizing the mission. Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) brings the Enterprise into orbit to try and apprehend Data and find out what happened . He discovers that the mission isn't one of observation, but the involuntary relocation of a small, peaceful population, undertaken by the Federation and its rogue planet allies the Son'a, supposedly to secure the planet's youth-restoring qualities. As it turns out, there's a much darker side to the plans of the Son'a, and a personal side to the carnage planned by the Son'a leader Ru'afo (F. Murray Abraham). Picard and his officers, suitably outraged by this violation of the Prime Directive -- that no Federation mission may interfere with the natural evolution of an alien culture -- take matters into their own hands in an attempt to expose the plot to public scrutiny, risking their lives in the process.

I cannot accept a future where pockets do not exist.
this comment didn't age well since now everyone has pockets in Picard.
@@omniliro Yeah, but Picard sucks. Totally out of cannon.
@@carterfrost4138ahh your unpopular opinion
Why the hate for this movie? It's a nice, fun adventure with some of my favorite characters.
In an Age of action pack rollar coasters this played out as an episode so everyone fell asleep only with scenes like this one to kneejerk people awake.
@@PuppetierMaster That's so weird to me though. I like TV, that's the reason why I'd be watching the movie in the first place.
@@junbh2 When you pay to see a movie, you expect a movie, not a TV show.
Maybe because your favorite characters are just the bastardizations of their formers evles.
@@zorkmid1083 Exactly. This would have been a great 3 episode story arc, but it is not a movie.
Where's the Son'a guy after the program ended?
hologram
While this is nice and cool and all... I'm still wondering who that Blue Guy was. He just... vanished. Were his theories on thermionic transconductance important?
What blue guy?
Jean-Luc ..... shoving a woman out into the water isn't very gentlemanly of you 🤣🤣🤣
So... Was the dude shooting at Picard a hologram too? After Picard ordered the computer to turn off the hologram, we should have seen the unconscious dude on the floor, but no one was there
Let the haters hate this film , as they hate JJs trek too
Believe it or not, this movie is pretty much as close to a TNG as we could , with some stunning special effects
people who hate JJ's trek are correct
I love all Star Trek up until 2005, including this film! I do hate JJ Trek and Kurtzman Trek, because it's not Trek at all.
I think this is a very good film, much better than the JJ nonsense that completely lost the meaning of what Star Trek was about. This movie did however feel more like an extended TNG episode so the not the most exciting of the bunch, but far superior to anything JJ can deliver.
It's a good thing the guard decided to shoot a pillar way away from where they were standing. He might have hit the otherwise.
Movie camera's glass cover visible at 1:56
ah now I see it...probably to protect the expensive Anamorphic/Cinemascope Lens from the water splashes. probably Panavisions top dollar Anamorphics, I too collect and use the cheaper end of 30 year old Anamorphic lenses....thanks to ebay.

That women is a babe wow
Maybe it wasn't noticed before but when the door first opens, Picard is on the left and Data is on the right. Then I noticed in the next shot when the camera points to them, Picard and Data have switched sides.
You know, I just realized, wouldn't the cloaking device on the holoship violate the Treaty of Algeron? After all, the treaty prohibited the Federation from researching developing, and using cloaking devices.
Then again, this was a clandestine plot, so it's possible that the Federation didn't know about the use of this cloaking device.
So all Star Fleet captains have authority to decloak any ship anywhere?
I like how everyone in this movie ignored the fact that Starfleet broke the treaty of Algeron... Again... During a time where the Romulans were still deciding whether or not to get involved with either faction in the Dominion War.
This was a year after the war I believe.
Nope. This came out during the later seasons of DS9
Did you forget that the Defiant has a cloaking device?
@@GBRyker61 That was different. The Romulans lent the device, making it legal.
I thought the Ship was created by the Son'a NOT the Federation
Every time I go to Convict Lake, I look for this ship.
Data should never miss when firing a phaser!
The music score is rather reminiscent of that used in the film US Marshalls and Chain Reaction.
Both scored by goldsmith. Amazing composer.
Both underrated movies too and composed by Goldsmith 🎼
Holographic Ship!!.
maybe it was a phaser generated inside the holoship.
Picard is a bad ass captain
Who was the guy that was shooting and why was he shooting
Ru'afo was using a disruptor weapon that fired plasma charges. Much more destructive than a phased energy weapon set to stun.
I love how both Star Wars and Star Trek agree that disrupters are more powerful than standard laser weapons.
2:03--"Computer, end program. Decloak the vessel."
Later on in this movie a phaser is used to disrupt the holodeck - here they have no effect on it.. What's going on Star Trek?!
simple one was a hologram, the other was real
Lol, they were all standing still and the bad guys still miss atrociously on the first shot!

GET OUTTA THERE! CAPPIN PRITCHARD!!! Oooft!
Why indeed?
oh no its the evil holoship that will ruin paradise! WAAAAAAAA
