Think Nidoking fell off form usage alot after gen I while most of the others on the list have some longevity throughout the generations. This of course has to do with accesability aswell

Funny thing. While I don't tend to use Clefable, I do occasionally like using Clefairy. But only because of something funny that happened way back when I was a kid.
It was around when Red/Blue were first out. I got to Sabrina's gym and forgot that I had a level 7 Clefairy in my team. The rest of my fully-leveled guys got taken out by her Alakazam. I sent out Clefairy out of desperation. That turn, Alakazam used Recover. I had Clefairy use Metronome, which turned into Ice Beam, which froze Alakazam. Since Gen 1 freeze never thaws, I was able to beat Alakazam with a level 7 Clefairy by whacking the frozen Pokemon with low-powered hits over and over.

many people do actually from my experience, particularly fans that are more mature
Pikachu is overrated, Jolteon is better. However, my favourite electric type from Kanto is Electabuzz.
I am in that camp too. I much prefer my electric dog to the electric mouse

As crazy as it may sound, back in the day, I NEVER once used Growlithe/Arcanine, because I ALWAYS had started with Charmander back then. So I was always set on fire-types right from the start.
Some more Pokemon that were also commonly used a lot back in the day were Lapras, Golbat, Fearow, Tentacruel, Pidgeot, Nidoking and Raichu
I remember using Primeape on my Leafgreen team a handful of years back and I loved it
Primeape has to be one of the best playthrough Pokémon in FR/LG. Great speed, great attack, excellent movepool and you can get one almost straight out of Pallet Town.
If they had a game where you only had access to Vulpix and Ninetales, such as Blue, that's why they never used Growlithe and Arcanine. Gen 1 Persian is broken with STAB Slash getting crits
I’ve actually never used Arcanine, as a kid I had yellow, silver, and leaf green so I always had the opposite version it was in. Then every game after that it was in there were other newer fire types I ended up using. However I have used Clefable so much it’s in my top 5 favorite Pokémon
Hot take, I don't really like Gengar. I was so happy when Ryme didn't have one in her gym battle. In fact, she doesn't use one at all which is a breath of fresh air.
On a lighter note, my favorite two Pokemon to use in Kanto are Dragonite and Ninetales
I have never used Gengar, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Zapdos, Mewtwo, or Ditto (aside from breeding). I used Butterfree for an entire playthrough multiple times.
In every playthrough I did of any gen 1 game, I always played with Kadabra and Haunter. I wanted Alakazam and Gengar, but I didn't have anyone to trade with. But Kadabra and Haunter are still great pokemon to use.
Best part about being an adult is I can just buy two Gameboys now and get all the trade Pokémon. 😂
I can honestly say that I have never used half of the pokemon on this list. I don't play competitively, and I tend to pick pokemon for my team based on design, not stats or abilities. I did use mewtwo on post-game in gen 1 as a kid, have used gyarados a few times in recent gens, had zapdos as my electric type in rby, and have used eevee specifically for sylveon.
😢 TFW you remember that Sylveon is a fairy type which didn't come out until gen 6

I always use Raichu and Charizard in my team if I can, I’ve loved them since my first play through of the Red, Blue, and Yellow games.
Articuno might not be great now, but back in gen 1, the original Kanto game, it was actually awesome.

I never used Growlithe or Arcanine. But one pokemon I always used was Geodude and Graveler. Not Golem though, never had the chance to evolve them.
Golem was my favourite when I was a kid. I was so excited when my big brother helped me evolve my Graveler.
Of all these, I really like Eevee. I also remember half of these guys (Snorlax, Primeape, Jolteon/Vaporeon, Arcanine, and Zapdos) being on your kanto best teams in the past.

Yeah I always used nidoking cause how good he is. Yet sadly he is not in every game. Hoped violet dlc brought him back, but sadly not
There is also the universally beloved Lapras, I know, quite late game in gen 1, but it is practically a given trade up in gen 6, if you didn't have a water starter.
I personally enjoy having Venomoth on my team when doing a Kanto run. Has Bug, Poison, Psychic, and Flying access and comes in really neat at times
As a kid, I boxed my Pikachu for a Butterfree, in Pokemon Yellow. Beat the whole game with it as my lead.
Fearow has been clutch for me in every generation. Early access to Drill Peck in the older gens, now it has access to Drill Run, Tailwind and U-Turn, and Keen Eye has rescued Nuzlockes for me. Fearow is my best angry chicken boy.
I think it's funny that I didn't use these Pokemon, aside from Mewtwo, Eevee, and Ditto. Though, I did evolve my Eevee into Flareon. I had Blue so couldn't use Growlithe and used Beedril instead of Butterfree.

Honorable mention is Clefable since gen 6 actually gave it a purpose because of fairy being the type to keep dark , Dragon , and fighting types in check
i like how dittos entry it switched from everyone's used it to everyone's caught it.
Pidgeot and Raichu are my mains for Gen 3 Fire Red and Leaf Green playthroughs, i've been using these pokemon everytime i play kanto

I recently did a replay of Pokemon Blue during some downtime I had this summer and I definitely got a lot of mileage out of Snorlax and Zapdos in that run.

So much so... That an NPC will try to sell you a Magikarp for an "Outrageous" 500 pokédollars in the Pokémon Centre by Rock Tunnel's Entrance.
Personally, I've never rated Gyarados as it's super weak to a well placed Electric attack... But it's Shiny version will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️
I have used the Pidgeot line more than any other Pokémon. It's a useful early Pokémon in Gen I and II, but particularly II because of the Bug gym.

Fire types i liked magmar
My non-starter fire pokemon was Vulpix/Ninetails. Rhyhorn/Rhydon was my go to for rock and ground. Magnaton is still a favorite for electric when I run it. I do have a 4* Gengar in Pokemon Go in his Mega Banette costume.
The gen 1 pokemon I used the most are probably nidoking, pidgeot, magmar and believe it or not - hypno
I used hypno alot as I didn't like unevolved kadabra or mr mime with a stupid nickname
where is magmar in these games? I don't remember seing any. isn't it trade only?
I dont think trade evolutions should be on these lists, simply because in older gens they are hard or even inpossible to obtain if you cant trade with yourself or there is one fixxed within the game.

Top 5 Kanto Pokémon I use the most in Kanto have got to be: (no particular order, excluding starters of all kinds, and based on Yellow)
1: Bellsprout/Victreebel
2: Dugtrio
3: Kadabra/Alakazam
4: Snorlax
5: Mankey/Primeape

Growlithe is the one doggo I'm always picking up no matter what starter I went with. Definitely the best boy.
Nidoking has become my favorite pokemon and he's a mandatory pick on any playthrough of FR. I always run him as a special sweeper usually with Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, and Surf
My personal favorite team for kanto would be
Blastoise, snorlax, nidoking, Electabuzz, alakazam and Arcanine
I've used Primeape, vaporeon ( on a save file till the 5th gym that's lost forever) , arcanine, butterfree, gyarados, gengar and I've loved each and every bit of it !! I don't like legendaries and Pokemon which never evolve, so i haven't used them yet , but I'd use snorlax if i found a munchlax though! Also another thing, geodude should have been here, it's a really cool Pokemon to use and oh my god Nido-royalty??
never used growlithe, but if vulpix is available in a game it's always a struggle for me NOT to use it

I think you should do your generation videos based on the games available in the generation rather than the remakes. The only one on your list that I use every time is Zapdos, with thunder, thunder wave, drill peck, and fly.
WAIT... You're telling me that Arcanine, the only Fire Type with Intimidate until Incineroar was released, was the BEST Intimidating Fire Type until the release of Incineroar? What ARE the chances???
My favoirite gen 1 pokemon to use use is starmie with surf, ice beam, thunderbolt and recover it can invalidate blain, giovanni and most of the elite four single handedly

Most of the games like the ones I started with , I got Talonflame , Litten (bcs i was anti-grass) , Then Scorbunny then for Paldea I got a quaxly but never even got a fire type 😂 (Litterally Quaquaval , annihalape , Espathra , Breloom , Staraptor and Pawmot) , Don’t blame me Fighting types are cool but i expected more from pawmi 😢

honestly in my first ever play through of blue when I was 7 I ultimately choose flareon as my first eeveelution It got the job done and I beat the elite four with it that's all that matters to me
The 10 Kanto Pokemon I would use 10, Eevee 9, Dragonite 8, Lapras 7, Mewtwo 6, Gengar 5, Pikachu 4, Gyarados 3, Primeape 2, Butterfree 1, Any of the Kanto Starters.
I have used one, maybe two of these pokemon.
Jolteon is my all time favorite Pokémon.

I didnt start using growlithe and arcanine until these most recent games. Idk why either.
I forgot I used to enjoy playing with Magnemite, so I could get Magneton, and rile friends with the moveset Tri-Attack, SonicBoom, Thunderbolt, and I'd experiment with the last slot with Reflect or Light Screen.
Honestly, I've never used Gengar or any of the other trade evolution pokemon. I play by myself with my consoles and since I'm not interested in competitive play I've never had incentive or opportunity to use them. Haven't used Gyarados either, 4x weak to electric types? No thanks. All the rest of these though, oh yeah! I've absolutely used all of them. Lately Dragonite and Nidoqueen are some of my favorites for chill runs.

Although the original 3 Eeveelutions are in the bottom 3 of the 8 available forms for me, I still prefer Flareon over Vaporeon & Jolteon (who look kinda ugly to me to be perfectly honest 😕 although Vaporeon’s mermaid tail is pretty). I mean, Flareon resembles Eevee the most out of the 3 & it’s so FLUFFY!

I have never used growlithe till gen 9 in its hisuian form. I usually pick the fire starter since fire types are scarce and it’s my favorite type to use. SO NON BREATHER HERE
