Great picks! I loved getting into Wolf Hall too and I'm really looking forward to reading The Mirror and the Light. Also, I need to buy a copy of Glass Town. Sounds amazing! Two big favourite novels of mine from this year are Joyce Carol Oates new novel "Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars." and Paul Mendez's novel "Rainbow Milk." 📚
My favorite book so far this year was Tess of the D'Ubervilles, thank you for recomending Thomas Hardy, it was my first book by him and now I want to read all of them.
I`ve loved your videos this year! This might sound strange but I really like that you take your time with books and do recent reads instead of monthly wrap ups. I think it reminds us how important it is to cherish and love books rather than rush through them and feel guilty if your not reading loads in one month. Thank you for your videos and inspiring me to read more classics!
Oh yayy! I was so excited when I saw this on my feed - I always love your videos, but I especially look forward to your favourite books videos! I always get too many recommendations from these, my wishlist is quaking 😂😊
Loved your video and I want to purchase the graphic novel now asap! The book I read going into lock down was Thomas Hardy's "The Woodlanders" and I find myself wanting to return to the woods again and again. Some books are like that though, aren't they?
My favorite books of the year so far are A Clockwork Orange, Little Women and Gabriel and Gabi Break the Universe :) I actually just picked up Ethan Frome at a bookstore not knowing at all if I would like it so I'm glad to hear you talk about it so highly!
Fantastic list! I loved the Cromwell trilogy this year, hopefully you have as great an experience with Bring Up the Bodies and The Mirror and the Light as you did with Wolf Hall! I really need to get to Glass Town, and I'd never heard of The Light Years before, but it sounds so interesting so will definitely check that out!
Hello Lucy! It is true that 2020 Reading month was quite peculiar than the other. Your favourites includes so many interesting titles, I am dying to read Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, as I devour historical literature. I am also curious to read The Light Years by Elizabeth Jane Howard . In this year, I got introduced to many good authors. I am reading The Jane Austen's Letters and Emily of New Moon By LM Montgomery, she is my all-time favourite classic author. I am also adoring Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The most exciting book I am reading is Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë, I am really transported to a different world. The plot is so smooth and interesting that I always get lost in the world of Agne's Life. I also read few short stories like A Modern Cinderella Or, The Little Old Shoe and Other Stories by Louisa May Alcott, Harold by O. Henry, Lucy MAud Montgomery's short stories and The Ransom of Red Chief by O. Henry. I will surely enjoy reading Glass Town: The Imaginary World of the Brontës by Isabel Greenberg. You own a very attractive copy of A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll. I will also read that book. I downloaded Ethan Frome in my Kindle. I also read the Introduction and I fell in love with it, After finishng my current reads, I will pick that book. You are the most wonderful girl, whom I adore very much. Thank you for sharing all these sublime literary works. I love you a lot!!
Some of my fav reads this year so far have been: The Fountains of Silence, A Tale of Magic, Radio Silence, On the Come Up and Gratitude Daily. I’m excited to read A Kind Of Spark because my brother has autism so I’m always looking to read books with main characters who have autism. 💖
Elle McNicoll’s books, A Kind of Spark and Show Us Who Are have such beautiful representation of autism and neurodiversity. I am autistic and I have a different way of perceiving and sensing the world, which was brought to life through Elle McNicoll’s characters. There are neurotypical characters in her books, but the central characters are proud of their neurological differences and truly celebrate autism and ADHD.
Hello Lucy, I just want to say that you were one of the first booktubers that I discovered. I did not really even know the word. Your enthusiasm specially on classics is CONTAGIOUS: You could be making a real life change upon kids or adults who have not discovered the mastery and experience found in classics. I do not know if you have a video on THE GOLDFINCH, but I am sure it will eventually become a real classic. I would love to see one of your videos on THE GOLDFINCH, I am sure that you will appreciate its beauty and geniality in how it is written. My name is Maritza and I write you from Mexico. Congratulations on all your contents. Saludos :)
Lucy, you’ve definitely inspired me to get a copy of Wolf Hall and Ethan Frome! My favourite reads so far this year are The Miniaturist, Where The Crawdad’s Sing and Mrs Gaskell’s Life of Charlotte Bronte 💕
Lucy, I feel like 2020 has been a different and absurd year for all of us. I think I am going to enjoy Wolf Hall by Hillary Mantel and The Light Years by Elizabeth Jane Howard because I simply love historical fiction with all my heart. I have not read many graphic novels, but I will definitely read Glass Town by Isabel Greenberg because I have become obsessed with the Bronte sisters. I have read Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and I have immensely devoured them because they are just lovely stories. I endeavor to soon read The Tenant of Wild-fell Hall by Anne Bronte. The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie has become one of my favorite books. I really love the novel that you wrote and the characters are crafted so well. I am excited to read Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. I have not yet read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. However, Ethan Frome is one of the texts we are studying this year and I am dying to read this story of gothic romance. I am currently reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith and I will also read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier for an assignment. I read and write with such alacrity because it is what I love most in the world. The world of literature is so alluring. I love you
I adored The Light Years and the sequels; time to re-read them all. Recently I read The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride and it was one of the most touching books I’ve ever read. A widower, 100-year old Murray meets a child dying of heart disease who has five wishes he wishes to fulfill; Murray becomes determined to help.
The Bonfire of the Vanities would be my favourite of the year. It was a re-read, so a bit of a cheat. I started Wuthering Heights this week and look forward to reading Ethan Frome afterwards.
Hi Lucy - Great video.. The Cazelet chronicles is 99p on Amazon today which is good. Always rely on your recommendations. My favourite book this year is My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel. I saw it in Literary Review and it really lived up to expectations.
My favorite book so far was North and South and I definitely want to reread it because I feel like I read it way too fast (in three days) and didn‘t enjoy it properly. I also really liked Emma and The Tobacconist (I had to read it for school and it is a really nice coming-of-age novel set during WW2 in Austria).
Hello Lucy, I just wanted to tell you that you inspire me and I read books that you enjoy and you interested me into more classics! I have read both of your books and they are my favourite modern day stories. I also have a disability and ive been learning a lot from books.

Wolf Hall sounds interesting.
Is Ethan Froome a Goblin? It sounds like a goblinish name.

Does A Kind of Spark mention Agnes Sampson, the famous alleged witch of the Berwick Witch Trials.
I literally can not tell the difference between the two pronunciations of Ethan Frome
Mantel is an alumni of my current university.
