The only problem with growing up so poor is that I don't really have the nostalgia for these old games because I never had them when I was a child.
Not many of us did. IBM was very pricey.
For some people its not just about nostalgia, I just prefer software and games from the golden age of computing which for me is the late 70's, 80's and mid to late 90's.
Grew up poor too. I play at friends’ house.
I was lucky enough to ever play some of these games in my friend's computer at that time. So I have the nostalgia despite didn't own any of them. 😊
eXoDOS is fantastic. Takes forever to download and extract but when it is down its fantastic.
Great package indeed.
I am glad this exists for people without access to origional retro hardware and people who were not fortunate enough growing up to have a financial path to PCs as many were stuck with limited power console budget based options such as the Commodore 64 and Amiga. DOS really shines with the 3DFX games- unmatchable performance by anything else at the time. I notice that on a lot of reviews not created by "DOS Fans" the 3DFX games are often left out with the focus being more on poor C64 ports and early 8 bit rudimentary DOS games.
There is no harm in keeping launchbox up to date, you will not lose any metadata or details. Totally safe.
Hey there
Thanks for your input. I just didn't want anyone messing up anything so was just being cautious.
I updated Launchbox and really didn't like the new preview sidebar layout. I actually uninstalled eXoDOS and re-installed again just to get the older version back. eXoWin uses an older version still which is (in my view) even better. And I think eXoDreamm uses the same Launchbox version as eXoDos.
great collection for sure, and love how things are just "ready to go"... any chance of taking the installed games and preconfigured settings and copying over to a retrobat build, for example - and not using LB?
I have no idea to be honest. I don't really use Retrobat much. Launchbox is my goto. Retrobat is a great free system and I upload videos as their is a big need for them.
@@JustJamie1983 I hear that more and more (LB as the goto) lol - yeah, Retrobat is my current goto, but collections like this make me question! :) I'll have to lookup somoe of your LB videos too - to try to sway me
This might help 😀

i think the zip files are made specifically to run with launchbox, youd have to re-configure each game to run properly
Hey. Thanks for letting us know.
They are already all preconfigured by eXo and his team. They are just ready to go.
Just wondering what is the best way to control these games ? As in could you plug in say a regular Xbox controller and use that or would every game needed to be configured ?
same question
I’m still so shocked at how huge Hogan was
Exactly.
My issue with this collection is in a lot of cases the DOS version of a game was the weakest if it was available on other platforms like the C-64 or Amiga with better graphics and sound.
It was true until 1988/1989.
Yup. I agree for sure. Robocop for example.
Commadore and Atari could not touch DOS gaming in the 1990s.
the issue you're having is not with this collection, the issue you're having is with the fact that these games were poorly ported for ms-dos systems back in the day. honestly, if it's the games from the game consoles you're nostalgic for, you probably should get an emulator for the gaming console of your choice
I love how every video ASSUMES you know how to download this thing?
Hey there. Just check how to use torrents and you will be fine.
Excellent pdf guide on the website.
@BobsPartyTimeLounge yup for sure.
So.. Step 1.. how long did that take? Mine says "less than 5 minutes" and an hour later it still says "EXTRACTING..." Do you know if this conflicts with a previous installation of LaunchBox on another drive?
I did say in the video how long it took>?
what about controller support? would an xbox controller linked to the pc just work out of the box? or do controllers need to be configured?
Worked just fine for me without configuring.
@@JustJamie1983awesome thanks. i think ill download this and set it up straight on an external SSD drive :)
Just followed this but when I ran the setup batch file I keep getting "It is best to copy these files *before* running setup.
Press any key to continue . . ." Then it wont let me go further. I tried to run it in admin mode and still no go. Any ideas?
It's an error I haven't personally encountered.
If I only had the space on my hard drive lol ok great videos
Many think that too haha
My problem is I have the space for either the download OR the extracted files, not both :p
Will this cause any problems if you already have launchbox? I'd rather not have to reconfigure my entire setup if I can get away with i
To be safe. Put it onto another drive.
There is a guide on youtube to integrate them both. I did it the other weekend without issue. The only thing was it changed the default categorisation when opening Launchbox but I just changed the display back to Sort by Platform and it was all good.
@@antman2807 Oh cool! thanks for letting me know 👍
Hi Jaime, do you know if this will work with Retrobat?
Nope.
Nope, you don't know or nope, it won't work? :p
Jay were do i get this bundle from?
They have a homepage that's mentioned in the video at 1:07 and listed under sources in the description box.

Hi, can you tell me if it works on Macbook with Silicon CPU (M3 pro)? Thanks
Hey, you will have to check on the website, you will have tools for Mac OS which you can likely use Windows programs with.
Thanks for your fast reply! i'm trying to find some information. I know you can install Parallels or similar programs but i would like to konw if you can run ExoDos on silicon chipset and not x86. I have to confirm a Macbook purchasing (this is not the only reason obviously) so i would like to know that because now days i play only with retrogames and it will be fantastic if i can run old games on Mac@@JustJamie1983
@helmgreycastle hmm. Mac has its equivalent of frontends like Windows does.
Thanks for your reply, i'll check then! @@JustJamie1983
sounds freakin' amazing, but 700GB?? damn, that's so much space. will have to save the site for later, in case i can get my hands on a Terabyte of space.
Yup. Agreed. But well worth it if you can handle the space.
agreed on that argument, i'm interested in seeing what DOS had to offer, and it llooks like quite a lot.@@JustJamie1983
Tjx for the video.
Is it not possible to add the entire collection to your own launchbox instead of having two versions of launchbox.
One with msdos and one with everything else
You could attempt to take all the games out of the exo folder and pop them into your Launchbox folder.
@@JustJamie1983 problem I'd they all use dosbox config files for each game.
@storm_shadows OK. They look like .zips to me.
On exodos offical youtube channel he says you can add to your exsisting build as it gives you the option on the install. But if you already have exodos 5 you need to delete all of that version becouse of alot of changes.
it gives instructions on the exodos manual on how to import to your own, current launchbox. It's really super simple
can this run on external drive ?
yes
I cannot see why not.
No clue how to get this to download and work?
Take a look into how to use torrents.
700 GB ?! Ooh that is a salty size indeed 😬😬😬
Fairly big agreed, but worth it for DOS fans.
Btw, can you do the other Exodos versions as well (Exodos Lite, Exodos Win3x)?
@@mrs7195 they are out there in the wilderness.
This work on Linux?
You could try it with Lutris.
I wish I had a spare SSD drive to get them to work (hopefully) whether it be RetroArch or Lutris on my Linux system (Manjaro)
@@DoctorVell no need for it to be an ssd, just a hdd will do just fine, and they are dirt cheap
No need to download all 700gb ... You can always Play all games with the lite version too
if you ever needed a reason to expand your storage on the computer... LOL
Haha. It's worth it to many lol
@@JustJamie1983 yeah, and i just realized i have 1.77tb free on my backup drive.. hmmmmmm... :)
I see Windows, I leave.
Yes. Windows became a thing after the DOS era.
@@JustJamie1983 Difference is that DOS wasn't spyware.
@callisoncaffrey ah right.
@@JustJamie1983 You seem unaware that Windows constantly sends out what you are doing to not just Microsoft but also third party data collection companies.
You might say you have nothing to hide, but that's what the Chinese thought too, and now they have a social credit system and can't even use public transport if they engage in wrong think.
Then you could say that would never happen in the west, but here I have to remind you of the Truckers in Canada who had their bank accounts frozen for protesting the wrong thing, or the guy who had his smart house disabled, because the Amazon delivery guy thought he heard him say a bad word.
So when the same system is fully implemented you now don't have the excuse of "I didn't know". All you have left is "I was addicted" and of course my all time favorite "I was just following orders".
You do you of course. I for one will not support anyone promoting spyware.
I dont play those old games anymore...I prefer modern games , more beautiful....
It depends really. Some play older games for nostaglia where others prefer them for originality and depth.
@@JustJamie1983 I used to play them when i was 10 yo...
But today i prefer fallout 3 or genshin impact and stuff like that...more beautiful in 3d and still work on a slow pc.
