      For Brian's guitar have a listen to Bijou. Freddie and Brian turned the song inside out so that the guitar became the verse and chorus and the vocal became the instrumental.

    Can we talk about Roger? This is like a duet between him and Freddie, it's not just backing vocals. Freddie was amazing, a god, but Roger was always there to support his voice when he was tired or sick, covering the notes Freddie couldn't reach and when Freddie was at his best Roger was still there for the armonies. I love this band!

    • @hellsbells8689
      @hellsbells8689 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Thank-you! I get a little sad when no one mentions how truly amazing Roger is. Freddie himself said he could always rely on Roger, if his own vocals were not as good as they once were. Whether that was due to illness or the screaming fights he'd had the night before lol

      @@dezperez1998 I love the interview--somewhere--in which Roger says of Freddie, "He really was my best friend" and the way he says it is as if he's just fully realizing this for the first time. Roger said he and Fred would meet at sunset to have a drink and talk and then go their separate ways for their evening partying, because of their different interests. He mentions it in such a matter of fact way. I hope to live long enough to see many more people in the world be as cool and secure in their own identities as Roger and Freddie.

      @montrelouisebohon-harris7023 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yesss! Roger is incredible and he and Fred sang most of the songs in their live shows. they had to save their voices somehow and people ask why Queen didn't do a lot of their operatic versions live and it's because it's extremely hard with a two hour show underneath those hot lights. I started playing musical instruments when I was 10 years old and started singing when I was around 10 or 11 and Stevie Nicks was my first vocal coach. I would listen to Rumours over and over again and when I was 16 I audition for Oliver Twist because I wanted a chorus part in the play. Damn! I was so ignorant to theater that I had no idea what callbacks were and Oliver Twist is a male play with only 4 female parts. I was only a kid and said, "what the hell." I won't get anything anyway but all I wanted was to get in the chorus and the four women that didn't get parts in the musical were automatically put in the chorus anyway.
      Dammit! We had open auditions singing and acting reading lines in front of everybody and I was one of the youngest in the bunch. I was 16 and another girl was 15. ( both of us got Parts in the show btw) & these 20 and 30 year old women who had been in Broadway and musical theater for life were giving us dirty looks.
      The next day I went to read the board to see who was posted and I was expecting to see myself as a possible character because of what the director said to me after my audition but I wasn't expecting the damn lead!! Those women were vicious and they hated my guts!! We started rehearsing in March and when I got up on the stage alone and sing my heart out I must have earned their respect because from that day forward they were kind to me and most gracious. Stage makeup is horrible and it will break your face out if you don't wash it off and those lights are extremely hot!!! We didn't have microphones either so when we sang and spoke our lines we had to have loud voices to reach the very back of the theater..it is hard!

    I have watched your reactions for years and i love all of them but I do have to say that Queen is my favorite ones to watch of yours since there have been times where I was wondering if my screen froze since neither one of you moved even to breath while watching. This one you moved, head bounces and all that but it is really fun to see you so captivated by the band that you can't talk or barely blink to not miss a thing. I even go back and watch your queen reactions that I have already watched because your appreciation of them is so magical it takes me back to the 70's when I was a teenager and first heard the songs you are just now hearing. I think to myself, I am so glad technology has advanced enough for young people today to hear and see the amazing bands I grew up with which wouldn't have been possible in my youth. Thank you for covering the most amazing bands in history which I truly believe there were more of in the 70's than any other time before or since.

    One of the most recognisable bass riffs ever. Play just 3 notes (do do do) and people will know exactly what song is coming. And nothing beats a Wembley crowd in full song. You just don't get this at a Taylor Swift or Justin Beiber concert. This version is more rocking than the original and that Red Special just sounds so..... throaty and chorusy, just amazing. Don't sweat the lack of shred, just listen to that full rhythm guitar sound. Huge. Everything about this band is unique. Hammer to Fall from the same concert is also fantastic. As usual a pleasure watching you both. All the best from quake city, NZ.

      Studio versions are fantastic but I believe that live versions really show people what bands have true talent and what bands need to be done over and over and auto tuned to make the song worth listening to. I know all bands have to have that perfect version for the album (CD's now) or for the radio but if they can't get it almost as perfect live then they really aren't that great. Some bands like Queen, The Beatles, The Bee Gees had this unspoken language where with just a look or wink or movement they all understood what to do that only the best can do. Not many bands can be put into that category. They also had a strong yearning to connect with their fans, wanting them to participate in the songs, feel like one of them, which is why they have such a huge fan base.

    I love watching you two reacting to all these songs that are the soundtrack of my life. Yes I am old, but to see the joy you both get from watching and listening to these songs is wonderful. The fact that you are both brilliant musicians yourselves adds to it.
    I see so many young kids wearing Pink Floyd, AC/DC etc. T shirts, and I think, "I bet they've never heard a song by them." But
    you both have listened to and appreciated their music, so wear those T shirts with pride. And if one day some oldie like me asks you "Name your favourite Pink Floyd track?" At least you can both rhyme off dozens! Good on ya. Keep it going. Love from the UK.

He just took Wembley stadium for an operatic vocal prelude that was amazing and then seamlessly and flawlessly goes into Under Pressure and kills it. How can anyone who is just discovering the endless sea of talent in this band not believe that Freddie was one of if not the greatest live showman to grace music and theater together from medieval times to the far future. He is up there with a very select few performers that graced us throughout history. Cheers. From the canadian Queen nut.

      new mercury yes! I saw Roger talking about this in an interview also! He drove them nuts playing it over & over but then forgot it over dinner & most likely a few drinks. His hook inspired the song. Roger also said he loved performing it live even though it’s lower in a lot of the parts than his normal range so he can’t get as much vocal power. For @Andy, Brian has said in interviews that during the creative process of this song there were so many strong personalities that someone had to back off & that, unusual for him, he was the one to back off....hence no guitar solo. I don’t believe they ever performed it again with Bowie other than the recording.

    THANK YOU GUYS FOR FINALLY DOING QUEEN AFTER SO LONG!!!!! I haven't seen "Under Pressure" live in a while, so it was very refreshing seeing Freddie messing around with the crowd and Deacon's bass being extra loud (which I'm ok with haha). Now that you mention it Andy, I hardly heard Brian at all, which is weird because he's usually in about every song (or at least the ones I've heard). With that being said, there's a comment down below that says to do "One Vision" live and I totally agree. It's one of my favorite 80s song from Queen!! However if you want to see Roger do a long drum solo, the studio extended version (the music video) is great! You could even compare both if can. Take care Andy and Alex! :)
