  • Awesome use for old belts; convert them into wrist cuffs and bracelets. It is easy to make and is almost free! Not just leather belts either. I'll show you my easy process, explain the tools/parts you'll need and demonstrate how to make cuffs/bracelets from multiple size belts. Plus, I share options for different designs as well as the types of belts that work well (and the ones that don't work well). Its like converting your trash into treasure.
    Parts & Tools used in this video:
    * Belts (free from my closet and donations)
    * Snaps (buy as a kit on-line or from a craft store; many hardware stores have them too) Snap Fastener Kit: $5 - $10 includes snap tools & snaps.
    * Snap tool (comes in the snap kit if you get one)
    * Hole punch (e.g. rotary punch) (got mine at a hardware store but you can find them at craft stores too)
    * Scissors, hammer, ruler, pencil,

    Very clear, concise tutorial. No life story or 8 minutes of talking to the camera before starting. Love this!!! Thank you!

    I took a old western boots, turned it upside down, sewed one end shut and sewed on the zipper from a old pair of jeans. I left the button fastener on the zipper. Then I added a old narrower belt for a strap. This was my tobacco pouch. I quit smoking but id like to make more and sell them back to the original owner of the boots.

    What snaps size do you recommend for the thicker belts? I have tried using the ones in the set I bought and despite managing to attach the bottom snaps of the bracelet thanks to a longer tubing I cannot attach the top dome peices of the snap as the bobble part is too small for the thick belt. Any advice would be great thanks xD

      That is a very good question and I do not know the exact size. On thick leather belts I have used snap fasteners that were specifically listed for use with leather and jeans. I did a quick Amazon check (wanted to see if that is where I bought mine but it is nowhere in my order history) and found a set for leather that says they are 0.49 inch diameter buttons and the bottom measures 0.35 inches in diameter. I don't see anything that details height of connectors though. I did see some that list "not suitable for thick fabric" so that would be a good detail to look for (check images shown to see if they show them used on thin fabric only or if they show thicker leather).

    what about if you have a concho belt and want to use to make a cuff
    with all the conchos

    • @DialedInDIY
      @DialedInDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that could be very doable depending upon the size of the parts/conchos (i.e. would it shape to a wrist easily enough). I've seen that some of those can have some great value so it may also be worth checking the value before breaking one down into smaller parts.

    How long did you make the bracelet? Thanks 😊

      I took the measurement around the wrist of the person they were made for and then added about 1 - 1.5". I think most were about 10" long. thanks for posting your question!

      Now I need to re-watch my vid... I'm assuming you mean something I said... and, yes I do often put intended puns casually in for my own entertainment. Not sure if I did here so I guess I need to check. Thanks for watching!!
