Hey Jamie. Very nice little set. I much prefer when they have different artwork for each album in a set. Makes it easier and less confusing when putting everything away. Like you said: a lot of bang for you buck, not only with the tunes and DVD, but the booklet as well. Good stuff. Thanks and have a great weekend. Cheers!
The hardcover book that comes with the super-deluxe version is available separately, and I highly recommend picking it up. The pictures alone make it worth it, but then there's detailed comments from the bandmembers about each song in the set, a timeline of the notable events that occurred during this time, and a listing of when and where each Room to Roam song was first played live, and Mike Scott's story of the time. Edit: Ok, I see the booklet included here is pretty much the band comments on each track, and some of the picy\tures from the big book.
Hello, I'm new here on your channel. So excited to be here on your channel. So excited for your future uploads. Cheering your success and let’s stay connected!🤗💖
Just got mine last week. 2nd Disc is the one that slams this home for me. Overall a great set that is worthy of re exploring, Waterboys fan or newbies. Great review as usual Jamie.
I strongly recommend playing the live from Sweden version of “The Pan Within” from Disc 3 of this new box set! That guitar solo is life changing- the best live Waterboys track I ever heard.
Had 2 of their albums back when they came out. Now I got a best of which works for me. Great band. I got into the Chieftains a bit after listening to them also especially with Van Morrison. Star of the County Down is one of my favourite songs. We covered that song a few years ago with our band.
That's cool. It was definitely an interesting time for music with a Celtic music revival thing happening. Nice that you covered Star of the County Down.
Hi Jamie. I'm a big fan of The Waterboys and was wondering if there is much new material in the box set or is it mostly alternative takes and live cuts? Also what do you think of The Waterboys recent albums where Mike Scott experiments with electronic music and dance grooves? Cheers.
Hi Randall. There is a lot of music in this box. Of course there are the alternate takes but also they recorded just about everything at this time. At hotels , after shows etc... the tape machine always seemed to be running so there are many jams and one offs on here as well. A lot of live stuff too. Overall I would say it is very good. Sadly I have not heard the Waterboys lately..electronic music and dance grooves? Wow. What are your thoughts on it?
@@jamiecottle5850 Thanks for letting me know about the set. I may get it. Their new material is a mixed bag. Some of it works and some of it I have not warmed up to. My least favorite of the trilogy is "Where The Action Is" but the other two do have some wonderful tunes.
Some of it is songs from RTR in various stages of their development. Lots of live stuff from the second leg of their Fisherman's Blues tour, when many of the songs that would later appear on RTR made up a large part of the setlist. Studio and hotel room covers of Dylan and John Prine songs, maybe more I haven't got to yet. Mike Scott getting hit with the inspiration for Something That Is Gone while in the hotel shower. Early stuff they recorded jamming with Sharon Shannon before she joined the band. Lots of good and interesting stuff here. Totally worth it if you're any sort of fan, especially of this period of the band.
Another stand out box set... Also love your enthusiasm, when sharing these unboxings with us all.
Thanks so much. I do appreciate you stopping by and commenting. Thanks again.

Thanks. Steve. Looking forward to the DVD. A lot of bang for your buck with this box.

Hi Mark. So glad you picked this up. Really impressed so far with the box. The live stuff is terrific.
I just listened to the first two. yeah, that live stuff on the second disc is just stellar.
