As I sit quarantined, drinking whiskey like vaccine, in the northeast corner of Vermont known as the Northeast Kingdom, it is 39 degrees and drizzling, gray, grim, in mud season when the roads are rutted as the frost comes out of the ground, I encourage people to ride this route. This was videotaped when the state looks its best, and it is, indeed, beautiful.

I just got an adventure bike and live in Southern VT- thank you for posting this video! I was just out riding in the rain, trying to get my engine through the break-in period before venturing out and about. Many of the historic roads have been illegally posted and the state government at one point stated that if nobody claims some of them, they'll be closed. We are slowly losing our access!

I live in New England and have been riding motorcycles and camping with my family for years. I always wanted to travel and live out West, but when I returned from a solo TAT trip in 2012 I realized that New England is where I want to stay. Colorado and Utah were the bomb but there's nothing like Vermont & New Hampshire. cheers

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I had to memorize that poem back in the 5th grade, 1976 to be exact and I still remember it. It was cool seeing that in your video.

Good stuff.. I live in New York State near the north west corner of Massachusetts Not far from greylock mountain I ride a lot of the roads on my Africa twin that I have seen on this BDR .. I just found them on my own.. it’s really cool I recognize so many of the routes Vermont is awesome..can’t wait to do this ! Also Vermont paper maps you can get at say gas stations have all dirt roads on it.. unlike a lot of state maps.. comes in handy and a good back up !

I did it from Maine down in June. That mud whole sucked with a 2 inch lowering kit on my KTM. Vermont was the highlight of the trip.

Love your videos but I have to say I'm glad I'll be riding my KTM 690 Enduro R as opposed to a GS when I ride the NEBDR this summer. Kudos to you and thanks for sharing. :)

Great Video's I'm doing the route July 11-19. I just wanted to pick your brain . I see some of the sections you say "it's not going to be on the final route". If thats the case do you think with all the roads on the route it's better to ride a ktm 1290 SA (1290 is set up for off-road riding )instead of a KTM 690 enduro. I have both and have taken the 1290 on a bunch of the MABDR sections , TAT sections in NC and TN. So back to the main question . Your opinion on if the possible struggle it could be getting through the class 4 roads is way out weighed by comfort and tank size on the 1290 SA. I'm thinking all the road riding on the 690 will get old for 8 plus days.

Do you think there would be any change in difficulty running it north to south vs south to north? I’m thinking it would be best for us to uhaul the bikes to Maine and head south on the NEBDR and then pick up the MABDR.

Love the video's you've put together! Would it be possible that you display/show your location on a map as you're going through a video? Start to Finish. I made this same suggestion to adventure rider from Bulgaria and ever since then he's showed the laid out map route and points of interest and this guy has over 700+ videos.

Westminster Vermont residents are not at all happy about all the motorcycle traffic on the class 4 section that connects south and north windmill hill road. The popularity of your free gps routes is undoubtedly going to cause many class 4 sections to become closed to all motorcyclist including us locals. Just today I had a conversation with some irate residents at the north end of south windmill hill road, they put up some nasty anti motorcycle signs and put logs across the road to inhibit through traffic. Apparently the motorcycle traffic has been much more than normal through the otherwise quiet road.

Update. This evening was the Select Board meeting and the residents of Windmill Hill have petitioned the Board to close the non maintained link between North and South Windmill hill. They had very convincing arguments to close the trail to motor vehicles. This will be a huge loss for local riders of which I am one. I tried to offer an alternative to the closure but I feel Ike it fell on deaf ears. The Putney/ Westminster area is very trail bike unfriendly in many respects. We try to keep a very low profile and work with residents to keep our trails open. In the near future I am starting a local riding club whose main purpose will be to improve our relationship with residents and land owners, maintain trails and be a voice in the community. It is a shame BDR did not reach out to local riders before developing the route through Vermont. While they did respond quickly and appropriately once they heard about the ruckus by re-routing the NEBDR the damage was done. They failed to consider the impact that large groups of adventure bikes would have on the local residents and trails. Windmill Hill is especially prone to erosion and in just a few months this has become much worse as these bikes have tried to navigate the trail. For a novice adventure bike rider Windmill Hill is not suitable nor is it appropriate for the large numbers of bikes we have seen coming through in the last several months. While closure of the trail is not a done deal, that will ultimately be the outcome. I will keep posting updates here and on the NEBDR page. Any local riders who do not know me are encouraged to contact me and join me in preserving trail access. Thanks. Robert
