"Want me to pour some beer on it?" Love it. That's the preferred cleaning method of my dad if my dirt-covered finds spend too much time sitting on his tailgate. Another great video. Thanks
Beers for a guaranteed dig, nothing wrong with that! Nice finds, love the old saddle strap guides, Copper and a neat ring piece! Thanks for sharing and a beautiful spot to dig for sure!
Hey Brad, I've always had a interest in finding things in the woods, I've never had a metal detector, but I soon plan on buying one, your videos have re-sparked my interest in roaming the woods searching for stuff...keep up the good work.
Didn't know that I'd have the opportunity to use your "sand paper" method on a coin. Dug a very chunky copper today and used 150 grit fine sand paper to remove the accretions on the high detail points. Result is that the coin is able to be identified - a 1760 Voce Populi half penny, my oldest coin.
very nice finding all those cool relics .. and Coin .. right there in that spot and mostly close to the surface if not on .. .. usually we have to break our butts digging etc .. see ya Brad
What is making everyone in Vermont loose their buttons? I love Vermont. We have been there twice and wish to go back but as they say "we are not in charges of our future plans, God is. I was going to work a couple of so years and then resign my Nursing position. Two years before I was going to resign I collapsed due to disease in my back. Can't seat for very Long or walk more than 5 minutes and down I go and there is no earthly way I can get up. Any way I love the houses, everything about Vermont. I live in the great mountains of Georgia. If you was ever down here we have about 2 miles of wooded area behind our house. This area was a big Civil War area. Several battles were known to be around here. They cut all the trees for lumber . Lot of leaves in there. Well nice finding you on your video. Be careful out there and don't go in some of those places by your self.
Congrats on IDing that King William III . I dug one last Nov. in CT dated 1700. Great hunt with awesome finds. I can not wait to hunt my 1st corn field. Still trying to sweet talk the lady. Great video, Thanks.
Wow that's awesome you were able to get a date off it, the fertilizer did a number on mine! Maybe try bringing the field owner an adult beverage 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching!!
Very nice finds Brad. The George III Half Penny reconfirms the site and gives a 50 year window. George III came to the throne in 1760 and his son was declared Regent in 1810. In the end George III was known as Mad George, suffering a physical disease that caused Dementia. Seeking permission with a bit of adult beverage is an old hunters trick, it often brings smiles form the land owner. Thank you for sharing my friend :-))
I remember quarry swimming in NH and sliding off the concrete race track at Bromley Mtn as a kid in VT wish I had detected instead. LOL! Did fish Orvis pond with worms though, LOL!
We all love old coins and the people that settled there probably loved their home it's so nice. They like us probably took old family stuff with them. I have ancient stuff in my home and watching this thought would people find my stuff and think I was from the stone age because of my stuff 🧐
Belle sortie de détection mon ami. Demain trip de détection avec mon frère Michel aux Iles de la Madeleines au Québec pour deux semaines. Translation my friend lol.
Another great video. On an odd note....noticed the bag of Duke's snacks in your passenger seat and thought....hey, they'd be a good sponsor for you. Sent them a message with the location of this videa...what the hey...if they don't go for it...maybe that p.r. group may become fans...you make it pretty easy to get hooked.....
Hi Brad, Just came across your channel, great video, mate, beautiful scenery with some really nice finds, well done, all the best, GL&HH form UK, Ian. BTW just subbed you as well.
Now THAT is something! Good for you . Coin SHOULD be worth a fortune & I'm glad for you. I'd love to do some detecting myself but there sure aren't going to be any colonial coins or the like out here in the NW. I do know of one old fort area, though.... hmm
well i am impressed mate...yes definatey a willy III half penny and some great digging on your colonial permission you need to extend your area of gridding mate there will be more there best of luck ...Dan
I love your show and have watched every episode i can. I was introduced to metal detecting as a child by my god parents and continue to this day but have never found things like you do living in Florida. Now at 52 yrs young my metal detector is a 20yr old Garrett GT 1250. I'd like to know which one you have, or recommend as its time to get a newer one. Thanks Mike
Great coin. You folks seems to be just tripping over those things up there! Oh, and we've found your doppelganger. It's that guy on the front of your jerky bag!
I do like your presentation in your videos sir. I have to wonder at all the abandoned home sites you hunt. What is the back story, why were these places abandoned? Also, how about a playlist of the music you use, some oof it is really catchy. Thank you.
Thanks Steve! I'm sure all the original inhabitants had their own reasons for leaving, but I imagine most were because of the new, cheap land opening up out west. All the music I make for the videos can heard at www.GMMD.us!
I think the ring is..Victorian gold filled / top of a signet ring. I think the spoon handle is coin silver as well. The little piece of silver looks like the back of a bowl from a colonial rat tail spoon..Always like your Vids!
That was an awesome hunt what a great area with a lot of history it would be nice to know more about the people that live in that area the village doctor?
Pretty cool, but that pre 1700 coin just blows my mind! Was that captured on film? If so I can't wait to see it. But if not, thanks for mentioning and showing it.9-15-20
@@GMMD I thought maybe so but you can get so many effect these days I was wondering. Guess you're using a glass slide too? Would love to see more band excerpts worked into your videos. In fact, that'd be funny to see an intro of some gorgeous scenery, the music fades in, the camera pans and THERE YOU ARE jamming! LOL. Guess that would take too much to set up but would still be amusing. Good luck on your digs!
Hi, I've been enjoying your videos. This one in particular made me want comment on the "shiny" object. If it looked out of place, it could have been dropped by a crow, they notoriously like to pick up "shiny" stuff and then drop it in flight.?????? Keep up with the adventures.
Question for you: In your opinion, do you think that a lot of the artifacts you find scattered about those old homesteads were caused by fire in the structures? Do you find evidence of this on some of them? I'm envious of your soil there. You can sink an E tool into the ground a good distance! Here in E TN, you're lucky to dig 4 inches down and then hit red clay. Lovely country up that way!
Hey, Steve! A couple of awesome dudes about 4 hours north of me in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. "Green Mountain" is a popular name for a lot of things in Vermont, Green Mountain Coffee, Green Mountain Power, just a little parallel thinking between the two of us! Hoping to hookup for a dig sometime in the future!
Yo brad. Outstanding video once again pal. Jeez dem mountains are a real beaut .as always a pleasure to watch thanks for your time and effort ! Side note. Do you have an email contact. Interested in your leather work. Thanks
what section of Vermont are you from? I'm right across lake champlain...Im wondering if i would be able to find the same kinds of items you are finding. Thanks for the vids man!
Im actually on the New York side right near the boarder. Do you walk state land looking for your cellar holes? or are you walking private lands? Love the new vid with the Spanish coins. I'm thinking of picking up my fathers metal detector and heading out there. Im right around the Battle of Plattsburgh area on lake champlain. There should be a lot of things to find around here.
Hi, i like your vídeos, i am your fan......man tell me how i find colonial sites....i have 3 years detecting and i never found a copper and I never found a seated coins......well congratulation for your find....
Thanks a ton, Heriberto! The land owner was plowing bricks up from this corner of the field, we didn't know it was colonial until i started detecting. Try old cellars and fields, you're bound to find something old! Thanks for watching!
+Green Mountain Metal Detecting great hunt im really into your videos and they inspired me to start metal detecting and I wanted to know how do you find old roads, cellar holes, or any old stablishments thanks and keep hunting
Liked the baby toad that came to be filmed.

I was only joking.
Me too...
Love the new tunes! Great job!

A cosmic button! I can appreciate a good cup of coffee just about anytime myself - I saw that Keurig machine!

That ring is definitely gold, if colonial and British its possible to be 9 karat, most British 9k has that orange look.
Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll have to get it tested!
Pretty sure it's a signet ring. Came here from Sidestep Adventures and binge watching!

I agree, I would LOVE to know the story behind this building and why they lost SO many buttons haha! Thanks for watching!!

Thanks so much, I love that theory! That could very well be!
yes, toads develop from the small black tadpoles you see in lakes and streams. The larger brown tadpoles are frogs.
Yall ever find any arrowheads out in them fields?
Hey this is the place to dig every signal - go back again soon. :-)
Question for you: In your opinion, do you think that a lot of the artifacts you find scattered about those old homesteads were caused by fire in the structures?
Do you find evidence of this on some of them?

Nice variety of finds Brad , really enjoy your vids ! HH Dirt Hawk !
Thanks again, Mr Hawk!!
A plowed field, do you also hunt for arrowheads?
I always keep an eye out while detecting!
Brad someday you need to get Hans from Terragermania and do a hunt together.
Sounds like a blast, Bill!

Do you ever find any arrow heads in the fields? Love your vids, keep it up
Thanks! I’ve yet to find any, but I know there are folks who have permission to the same fields who look exclusively for points and are successful!
