you need to mess with your center of mass and the angle of your fins. If you can't control the fins you should make sure they are unlocked and bound to the correct action group

Every Starship I have made has had a bad yaw problem during the belly flop section of a hop. The rcs tries its hardest but can’t fend it off. Am I doing something wrong or should I just add more thrusters and reaction wheels? Also whenever I do the belly flop from 10km it comes in at 200+ ms, is this because it’s not coming from space or what?
yeah just spam reaction wheels and rcs and the yaw problem usually goes away. The most likely reason you are coming in that fast is bc your flaps are getting pushed up by air, causing them to retract and not produce as much drag. Lowering the damping to zero on the hinges should fix that.

my starship landing legs cant support its weight, it always explodes no matter how slowly i land. Any tips for this? (Im play in ps4) Im doing a test going up about 40 meters after landing very lightly with just the landing fuel, but the starship keeps jumping and then it explodes and i cant recover :(
Very cool design. It took some finiking to get it to work on console but I got the starship so far. It kinda laggy and ksp crashed once from just the starship so we'll see how this goes.
If you are on console press r1 or rb while moving it. It will allow you to move it past the limit but it will move it less. I don't know it on pc but there is an icon on bottom left of the screen witch shows a little joystick there you can find a lot if information about the controls
The challenge with the payload is it is very difficult to get the nice looking fairing transition. But if your ok with having big white lines on the starship you should be able to get it to work. It also can be difficult to get a hinge to move such as big thing without kraken attacks
i have the exact same flaps settings and action groups and stuff but mine just stay still and do do anything, sometimes it says the part is locked as well, someone please help.
I built cargo starship.Itsn`t stock. i used tweakscale for real diamater of starship, and raptors, and i also used mod on fairings(i dont know name) for the cargo bay.
When I build it my aerodynamic center is at the very top it’s like the bottom flaps don’t register meaning it nose dives no matter how I control the center of mass
i actually download starship mod and your starship is 9/10 why? because this kinda looks like real starship and its controlable also it has a header tank but if its perfect why is it 9/10 because superheavy engine counts not realistic but preety acurate starship good job
maybe you can join all the fuel tanks at the bottom of the starship and put the payload on top, but you’ll have to balance it, otherwise it will be very difficult to land and fly.
You could remove one of the fuel tanks and out and put a payload and piston on it. Then you could extend the piston to push the payload out through the fairing. I think it would work but it would look super dumb
@@Piolet1549 Or just place small cargo bay, scale it by tweakscale, use mod on fairings, place fairings to make nosecone, on the top of nosecone small header tank, and you`ll get a volume for cargo, just open the cargo bay, separate, orient payload, and by starship`s rcs move out the payload.

For anyone who cant see Lock/ unlock the fins, turn on advanced tweakables. Its in under settings> gameplay
To fill the small gap you can use a small triangle and clip it inside the actual fairing to remove that gap
That header tank idea is quite smart. I've always had trouble trying to balance my fuel on descent.

That means the air resistans is more at the back
So make the back heavyer or use the hinghes

I suggest fitting those reaction wheels in the gap between the fuel tank and the fairing, so we can use the top for some actual payload.

You can place little rcs pods on the nose cone and by the fins. You can use flags for the heat shields. And you can use pistons for the legs.

How do I include Yaw and Roll of the flaps in the action groups? When I set yaw up, it just randomly does a roll and I can't pitch anymore
you can only control one axis per hinge. The only way to do more than just pitch would be to do some super complicated.

Have you tried using the skiff engine.It does not clip into the skirt and is more efficient...but it has 75 less kn of thrust.
