Rocket Scientist my daughter has called me 3 times stuck saying the hummer won’t start and the key is stuck and she can’t get it out, then 5 minutes later it cranks , is this the same issue you guys are having or is it turning over but not starting?
OK, I change the sensor didn’t seem to work, but it’s a good idea. What works for me? Was taking a safety pin and cleaning the holes of the sense six pin connector one hole look buggered up but the safety pin in there swirl it around a little bit, plugged it back inand started every time since I am so happy so make sure you’re connection in the six pin connector might be seven. Make sure the holes are clean like night and day now again I said I’m very happy. Thanks for the video.
Its the connector at the end of the cylinder that gets corroded , take it apart and spray it with contact cleaner . I had this proplem for years and i did a deep dive and found the solution. 7 years later all good.
3 screws under the steering wheel .. 2 screws holding the sensor on .. turn the key and it pops out .. then you have access to the male/female connector and just spray it with electrical cleaner . That is where the corrosion lies that make it seems someone is stealing your H3 .. no need to replace anything.. 🙌🏻
Had this problem several times but ONLY to my wife in the morning...never to me. So when it happen today with me home, I tried some other things suggested first before seeing your video. Thank-you and it worked...now I just have to remember!
Definitely worked for me this morning. I saw this video last week and what I did was turn it to on then attempted to start it. That didn’t work. Today I turned it one click to acc, waited three seconds then turned it to the on position and waited 3 seconds and it cranked right up 💪🏾
I forgot to comment that it WORKED until it just happened to me again 2 yrs later & again in 100°F heat with high humidity! Came right back to this video bc I couldn't remember if it was "turn it forward or backwards," after the 10 min mark, so a MILLION THANK YOU'S! 🤗
The H3 lock out starts by using the acc to listen to the radio or whatever you do with the switch on that position. It happened to me after work and at lunch time I listened to the radio. After work I just had a big nice ride just turning over and not cranking. So appreciative of folks like you who share for people like me.
I’ve had this problem for a few years and someone suggested this. It works. The hard part is remembering to do this every time, especially when you’re in a hurry. You just have to treat the truck like it’s a diesel with a wait light.
Thank you! I have the freaking H-3, was freezing because the stupid thing refused to start. The trick worked for me, & I didn't have to sit freezing for another 10 minutes! ☺
Hi, everybody.Fresh experience to share. It happened to me, yesterday, 2006 Hummer H3. The battery went low, could not unlock with the fob. Unlocked with the key. Changed the battery, the alarm went off. Tried to start, no luck. So, I disconnected the battery and left overnight. Meanwhile, I found this video and got aware of the issue, for which I am immensely obliged to the author. Was prepared to do the 10 min-10 seconds trick. Next morning, I reconnected the battery and it started right away. Thanks again for sharing experience!Val
I am sorry I am so late on this, but I too have had this dreaded problem. The dealer changed out the entire lock and sensor (one unit) and it worked for years. Now it is acting up once again and the dealer stated the three second from ON to START and it does work just as you stated. He claimed all GM dealers know this simple trick. Your aging assumptions on stuff is correct and those rotating magnets in the cylinder get weak over time and don't their thing either. I won't hold my breath on a recall
Just remember to do it every time you start it! Another quick tip. These Hummers get real finicky with even the slightest drop in voltage. If it's doing it that many times in one day, check your battery. It might be on its way out.
Thank you so so much... My car would not start for a hour just a little while ago and once I tried what you showed in the video it started right up...THANK YOU....
Good to know. I learned a top today. My hummer alpha 2008 was binding or stuck in 4 high. I tried other TH-cam tips. Some1 said disconnect battery a hard reset. It worked. I’m happy 😆
11/30/2022 it worked! this is the first time it ever happened to me i tried all the normal stuff and nothing then yhis video and magic presto it started right up, thank u so much
Another good tip, don't put your key in your pocket with anything magnetic (even credit card or time card). It puts just enough magnetism on the key to cause a failure.
You are seriously fantastic!!! Been dealing with this time to time and I also thought maybe it’s a cold weather thing until it’s been happening back to back in 100 degree weather!! Thank you!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dude you just got me and my 07 to fire up and leave work. It's a H3 and it just turned over and I was lost. I just bought it. Any way .Thank you and you got a friend in South Carolina. Lol
Thank you for your video I had almost forgotten that this truck will do that I have a 2006 H3 and I did what you said and it immediately started thank you
I usually wait for the seatbelt light to stop blinking but yes, waiting works! There are still times I don't wait long enough and it gets me almost everytime I don't wait long enough. Should be considered a safety issue, and a class action lawsuit since they won't recall it. Imo
Yes. That what I did... It's work. The only problem is sometimes I slowly turn to put it on "On" position it turns directly to start position. And the problem start again for 10 minutes need to wait 😁
this happened to my wife. she just turns the key from off to on in one motion. i have told her to turn the key once, wait a few seconds then start it. she hasn't been locked in almost two yrs.
Young Smoke lol I’m currently at a carwash doing the same thing I’m like the car sure looks nice .... boys can you just push me over to the side now ! Lol 😂
Thank you' I have a h3 08 with 149k miles and it works, make sure to hold it in start pos for at least 5 seconds, worst comes to worst u gotta wait 10 minutes, thank you.
I think it may take a little bit of time(4-5) seconds, for the computer to recognize the key/fob. If you are in a hurry and slam the key in and crank, it goes into failsafe mode and shuts off the fuel pump. I use this start procedure every time and have not had one bit of problem.
What worked for mine is flicking the key in the ignition, not turning it forward like you would a normal vehicle. Just flick it forward, no hesitation. Worked for me everyday for the last 11 months.
I have been using that and it seems to have worked until it did not. Last week my wife who is keenly aware of the stall from original key turn to start turn had it not start two times back to back. I have also cleaned the passlock electronic piece in the cylinder lock per another TH-camr. I think I'm going to buy the $47 part on Amazon and only replace the electronic component.
Yeah mine finally did it once last week, but that's the first time since I made this video. I usually wait 3 dings of the dinger (or whatever the thing is called). It caught me not paying attention. Let me know how that job goes! I might do the same thing.
Did not work for me what did work was making a spare key and leaving it in the ignition once it starts just leave it in there FOB Del and unlock it but you must leave the key in the ignition. It’s only been a couple days but it’s working so far.
I have same problem. I am not sure if you were saying there is a chip in keep but I have had other keys made and there is no chip in key. I usually wait about 10 seconds before I try to start it.
Its a sensor in the column that detects the key. Its like an old school hall effect sensor. Over time it gets out of tolerance and sends wacky signals.. I just replaced the sensor and it hasn't done it since. Super easy job too. Look that one up.
Tried it. I have replaced it once about 2 years ago and now waiting for 3 hours. Got it once but wanted to try something else. I think you’re just on a good run or maybe it works for you. I dont know but good luck
While cranking and no start you can simply just give it gas like it's an old carbureted motor and it will start. Since the passlock doesn't send the signal to get fuel, it just bypasses that if you have to. Also the best permanent fix is to go to ( pcm of North Carolina ) they will tune your pcm to bypass the passlock permanently and you will also get a time with gives you better fuel economy and more power. It really wakes up the 5 cylinder engine.
What if it's locked up steering wheel everything and seems like battery is dead but it isn't cause it's happened to m several times but somehow I leave and it starts right up "sometimes Not always, like today...it won't do anything...the key locked in A guy said it's not recognizing my key so it locks everything down on me! Is there a way to bypass the locking part somehow? I'm a female...pretty handy...but not good at electrical computerized vehicle fixes? H3 2006
If I could I would fucking kiss and hug you sir!!! Just got out of my overnight job to my h3 that wouldn't start. Watched your vid. 60 seconds later, boom, started right up. Thank you!! Time to go to the day job now haha
Awesome video man! I am in the same situation with my H3. I am almost ready to drive mine off a cliff too lol. I will test it out and let you know if your method works. Much appreciated!
Hello. My 2006 H3 began not starting, but cranked over about a year ago. Only happened a few times. Now I never know if it will start. Tried a 100 different things. There is no security code showing on the dash but I sure as heck am giving this a try. Quite embarassing when at the gas pump and have to stay an extra 20 minutes I thought. I will try the ten minute thing if this doesn't work. TKS.
What I tried and has seemed to work for several months (I do have the replacement part I just don't want to do the relearn process) I turn the key to the first position, If I hear two or more beeps I will start with no problem, If I only hear one I turn off the key then open the door and try again. Sometimes it takes three times, but if I hear three beeps it has all ways started.
Are you doing this before or after the Passlock system is already tripped?

Is the On position 2 clicks? Just making sure its the ON position not he ACC position. Been working on my wifes car for a while, but happened again, just saw your video. thanks

@@MuhammadAli-gw4to i understand you well. If your car gives that code, then it defintely has an immobilizer. It may be an internal sensor that you cant see from the outside of the cylinder. The new key is the likely cause of your problem. If your replacement key has no transponder chip it will never work. You will need to go to the dealer and have them make you a new chip key and have the car programmed for it.
Mine is doing the same thing.I am not sure that is what is is.Check engine light is coming on and seems like a fuel problem but if I do just like you said,it works. So I have no idea.My mechanic can’t find anything wrong with it but of course it has never done it with him.I guess I need to take it to the dealer but I have very little faith in them for various reasons.
You need to replace the faulty ignition switch/passlock sensor system if this is happening. This is not a normal thing for Hummer owners to experience. Once it fails the first time, it's time for a new part. Also, everyone should always turn the key on to the run position for a few seconds prior to starting the engine on any fuel injected engine. This allows the electric fuel pump enough time to build up pressure in the system for the fuel injection to work. You'll see it every day, people grinding and grinding on a vehicle before it starts. It's waiting for fuel pressure....
Key has no chip in it. Take it from a locksmith. It's built into the ignition cylinder as the key completes the electrical cycle needed for anti theft to see the signal. I like the slow computer comment.
Just realized I said "H3 Pickup" in the intro! Let's go with "All variants" of the H3.

My hummer is just like yours by the way. Same color.
You are the man it worked thank you for that 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I have a H3, It work..Thanks so much
You need to replace the faulty ignition switch/passlock sensor system if this is happening.
Ill try this tomorrow lol
It worked ♥️♥️♥️

Thanks man... I've been dealing with the same issue
Glad to be of help!
Just worked for me ....thanks
Hell ya it worked thanks
Key has no chip in it. Take it from a locksmith. It's built into the ignition cylinder as the key completes the electrical cycle needed for anti theft to see the signal. I like the slow computer comment.
