    Great video. I’m enjoying my Muse so much as well. One of my favorite things is making a sequence with one timbre and then creating an arpeggio with the other, stacking the timbres for some real awesome polyrhythmic capabilities

      Also great Reich pun. The way the Mod LFO phases differently with each different note makes this thing like a “music for 18 musicians” machine!!

    Weird compliment, but I feel like you got the levels absolutely perfect in this video. What I mean is the volume of your voice and the volume of your playing. A LOT of channels don't get that right. Or they'll have the voice duck the audio of the playing. It's highly distracting. Also, seriously love those patches. Keep making stuff dude !

    Sorry for writing so many comments lol. I also was thinking how great it would be for Moog to implement knob-functionality in the same way Sequential does as well. Can’t believe it wasn’t a day one feature. That will really increase the potential for sonic sculpt-ability without those pesky jumping parameter values when shifting between timbres

    • @bienenstich5378
      @bienenstich5378 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats really unbelievable that this is not implemented. For me its one of the most annoying things to experience when playing synths when parameters jump without interpolation. Especially on a bitimbral synth where changing parameters between timbres is a big thing.

    • @markus6409
      @markus6409 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you make a sound, how the heaven you are disturbed by jumps?
      When you perform i can understand but on many parameters if you are quick it doesn't matter also.
      No synth is perfect maybe it gets updated. Better make a feasture request.

    I get your struggle. I have not bought a new synth since the Jupiter X day one. So i had a synth budget this time. Still may sell some stuff, it fills a lot of holes and a bit of overlap. Dig your patches and puns. I'm overwhelmed even after 40 years of synths. my first was a CZ101 second Poly800 then a Ensoniq SQ80. cant get sounds as good as Poly 800 with quick programming. It takes me a while to get deep sweeps and amazing pads. Leads and bass are a dime a dozen.

    I bought this Moog Muse, was crazy about it and here comes the thing: Unfortunately, "Moog Muse" has terribly disappointed me.. To turn on this keyboard it takes more than a minute (!).. Functions do not work properly, lights go on and off quickly and without meaning. The speed of the envelope generators is WAY too slow.. Chords played faster produce unwanted fast arpeggios. I tested everything and even the new software (1.2) did not fix these serious bugs, so I have to warn about it.. De-tuning is a big problem, even the tuning function does not work. The keyboard froze even after programming faster sequences.. The overall sound was thin and not as fat as my old Moog products (Mini Moog, Memory Moog). My impression: This instrument is too digitally controlled inside by very slow and in the worst case... often incomplete processing. I returned the Moog Muse to the seller and I have to say, there is something very wrong with this new Moog and it doesn't sound like a typical Moog at all!
    The sound is also bad and not rich. Too many other synths sound fuller, richer and faster (envelope generators) and the filter here doesn't do what it promises!!
    Forget the actual "Moog" products. They are not what they promise and what they say they are.
    Direct comparison with my old Sequential Circuit products and many intensive tests finally opened my eyes after many hours, folks.
    Wake up... and stop believing in any advertisement for Moog... I'm sorry for all of you who fell into this trap like me.
    Sooner or later you will confirm what I am writing here.

    • @mattlowerymusic
      @mattlowerymusic  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s quite the write-up! I haven’t experienced any of the issues you’re describing. Maybe you got a lemon? This is definitely the most complicated synth they’ve moved production out of the USA on, so some quality loss is inevitable. I think it sounds awesome, but I also thought the Dave Smith stuff I’ve owned was kind of boring. Sounds like we just have different tastes, which is fine! I’m glad you were able to return it.

    • @naturesound2963
      @naturesound2963 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mattlowerymusic Please, .. > "the most complicated synth"< ?? Haha.. You never had tried the Novation Summit, I guess.. On that piece .. anything works fine from the very beginning, and updates had made that beast always better..
      No, I guess the Moog-mystery should be ended .. finally ..
      Too expensive and nothing special, but a sick instrument.. also after updates..
      Dave Smith instruments I hadn't tried the latest ones, but just the old good ones, and this is where the benchmark should be set. Without any comparison, anything could be "a star" 🤭

    • @mattlowerymusic
      @mattlowerymusic  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@naturesound2963 I’m not sure what you mean about the summit…my point is that Moog’s recent acquisition by InMusic resulted in production being moved from the US to somewhere else. But I think you just didn’t get along with this instrument, which is fine. Let it go and go have fun playing something else!

    • @naturesound2963
      @naturesound2963 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mattlowerymusic
      Hi, I meant the "Summit" from Novation, an example of how other companies have done a better job and cost $1000 less. But thanks, that's nice of you..
      Well, I had a lot of trouble with the Moog Muse. I think many other professionals will have similar complaints sooner or later. There are just too many problems with the Muse and its capabilities are vastly overrated.
      If real problems (like too slow speed in all kinds of operations, total hanging etc. or the terrible detuning that Moog products were "famous" for) are attributed to aspects of "being vintage", then something is definitely wrong.. The list of defects is simply too long for a modern instrument of our time.
      If you are interested, I can send you the list of defects.
      And other owners here at youtube start reporting about the same problems..
      It's sad, but this is the major problem of products from Moog of nowadays...

    • @nichttuntun3364
      @nichttuntun3364 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are overdoing it. I've known Moog and synths in general since the 90s and have always owned analog and digital synths. You can't compare a German shepherd with a canary. In other words: the Minimoog is not comparable to a polyphonic synth and it was never comparable to a poly from Moog. And yet: the MuSE comes very close to the Mini - thanks to Overload and its 3 OSC architecture. Incidentally, there is also a nice comparison video on which you can hear almost no difference between a Mini and the MuSE. The MuSE can sound incredibly thick and fat. Almost like the Matriarch, which pushes everything away. Now imagine if the Poly only had this power. You wouldn't be able to play any chords at all, as it would sound so bad; and it would hardly be mixable. The envelopes are great and very fast. Percussive sounds, kicks and snappy basses are no problem at all. It's thin? You can't be serious. Some patches have to be thinned out to be able to play them polyphonically, that's how thick it can be. And I don't know of any other synthesizer that can also be as soft as the MuSE.
      Yes, the Muse takes a while to boot up. What's the problem? It takes a few minutes until my studio is completely ready to go anyway. And for live setups you'll sure will switch it on a few minutes before the action starts. I've had the MuSE for a week now and have used it for up to 8 hours on some days, testing it intensively. I haven't had to retune it, but so far I've only used it solo; it will only be integrated into the studio this week. I love the Muse, it fits so well to my other synths and I knew that before. I bought it for that reason, beside its swesome sound.
      Sooner or later, this synthesizer will be considered a modern classic. It's something very special, capable of sounding super-hard, weird, glassy, metallic, snappy massive and buttery smooth on top. This is Moog as I know it. It can do 70th sound design and sound modern alike. It also has many interesting sound tricks up its sleeve, hard to find on other analog synths, like wave morphing.
      Reading your text, I'm wondering whether you actually programmed the synth yourself or just played the presets briefly? I also think that you approached the MuSE with completely wrong assumptions and that it didn't really have a chance to convince you of its quality. I researched some weeks before buying and I was even more impressed about its capabilities and sound variety by patching it myself.

    It's not that I think it sounds bad, but I feel like EVERY sound I've heard from it so far, out of hundreds of patches on various videos, is tney're all a bit bright and raw. I feel like I've yet to hear it make darker or smoother tones. Lots of fizzy and saturated stuff, but no colder or creamier stuff. I love the features and it seems really powerful, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something about the basic tonality that hasn't made me wanna pull the trigger. It's gonna sound like an insult, which is not necessarily intended, but I sorta feel I could get a lot of these sounds out of my Deepmind 12.

      The muse is like that. It isn't cold like the teo 5 for example. Maybe you don't like that.
      If you keep the two osc levels at about 35 percent you can keep it as clean as possible and you can try it out.
      The filter does saturate quickly like on the pro3. Its harden the sound.
      The mixer on the other hand not like they say, so its the filter.
      It just maybe not your sound.
      So why not ordering one and test it?
