Upgrade Intex Pool Pump & Valves | 1.25 to 1.5 Conversion | Krystal Clear 2500 gph

  • Before I could upgrade my Intex pool pump I had to convert the inlet and outlet valves from 1.25 to 1.5 inch to fit the larger hoses that the Krystal Clear 2500 gph pump requires. If you have a Bestway, Coleman, Summer Waves or Intex above ground pool similar to mine you can follow these steps to upgrade your pump and valves.
    Keep in mind, you have to cut the pool liner to upgrade the inlet valve. Doing this will likely void any warranty/return policy you might have on your pool. Do this at your own risk.

    THANK YOU for this VERY informative & helpful video. It’s Clear you did ALOT of research to ensure a clear clean pool! As did I until I stumbled across this Vid! Thanks so VERY much! We have just purchased our upgrade pool pump to the same as yours, Intex 2500 pump. From the pump that came with our Coleman Power Steel Frame 16x14x46 above ground pool. This is our 3rd year with this pool which IS amazing quality it’s the pump. Last year we upgraded to a 1500 pump that stated it would do the trick and it did NOT. So now we stepped up to the 2500 hoping for same, similar results you’ve had. We also followed with upgrading the t- connector and that other piece. We trusted and just did, hence not sure what it’s called. We found the waterfall on discount for a third less , & went that root. Hoping you caught a deal for it as well, can’t be 20.00.

    If anyone is scared to cut the holes in your liner, or just plain confused. He has a link to the adapters you screw onto this pump so the smaller tubes would fit to it. I went that route and is working perfectly fine with much more pressure than the 1000GPH pump that comes with my pool

      Sorry for any confusion! The 1 1/2" inlet jet that you need comes with the pump. I mentioned that in the video but might not have made that clear enough. The pump doesn't come with the inlet plunger valve or the t- joint plunger valve, which are both linked in the description. I did go ahead and add a link for the inlet jet by itself in case you happened to get a pump that didn't come with it. I don't know if some of them come without it or not, but the one I ordered did.

    If you have the Easy Set 18 x 48, you DO NOT need to to cut any holes or buy any adapters. The 2500 pump will work with all existing connectors and connections. The smaller easy set pools use a smaller pump, so you need the adapter to make this work.

    Why did you have to convert the valves and hoses? It's weird, because I just bought an Easy Set 18 x 48 and it came with the plunger valve and t-joint valve. I wonder if Intex started including those with the Easy Set pools now.
    Also, why did you cut your pool liner? You could've just bought the 1.25 to 1.5 inch adapter from Intex instead.

      The old inlet jet is only good for 1000gph. To take advantage of the new 2500gph flowrate, you want to install the bigger 2.5"inlet or there is no real point of buying the bigger system..

      A sand filter is better.

    • @wampuskatlove1450
      @wampuskatlove1450 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not only is a sand filter better, but the pool comes with a stopper that you can plug off the farthest Outlet and not even use it and do what she did to both sides because you're not going to have the right suction doing it like that, especially when you go to vacuum. If you get a sand pump, it should come with these attachments for inlet and outlet. And doing this to both sides makes for the same flow rate and allows you to attach the skimmer basket, which with the sand pump makes keeping water clean SO much easier bc it grabs everything from the top before it sinks to the bottom.

    Can I use the adapter to the inlet valve

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing you mean using an adapter so that you can keep the smaller inlet valve and not have to install the larger inlet valve? I wondered the same thing and looked into it before hooking up the larger pump.
      The smaller inlet valve is rated for a lower GPH pump. The stronger pump pushes more water per hour than the smaller inlet can pass. That builds up pressure and puts stress on the pump.
      That being said, I've seen a couple people use an adapter, I just don't have any idea how much of a difference the bigger pump actually makes when using the smaller inlet nozzle or if it l lowers the life span of the pump.
