2014 FJ Cruiser owner - it's 1:30 am and I am going out to check mine. Thank you. Now this is how you get sub'd. I've watched many FJ videos, no one mentioned this.
Easy peasy. Only tough part was removing end cap with the four clips. I used one screwdriver and three thick toothpicks. You have a great channel. Thank you
Excellent advice! I just found out about this filter in one of your other vids. My 17’ 4Runner probably has never been touched. I plan to check it as well as my 23’ this weekend! As always, thank you for your advice and education on teaching us to keep our 4Runners running like new for a long time!
excellent video. 24 4run trd pro, will be doing this for double protection when i pick her up. great channel, will be cking all ur videos on the 4runner...
Just did mine. Stupid easy thanks to another great video by Viking. My 22 4R has 56k and the filter was clean but had some fuzzies on it. Got the filter he recommended and it was easy peazy
Just ordered that filer and subbed to the channel! Thank you so much!! 59k on mine so thinking I caught early enough to make this last for many more miles to come!!! 😊
👏🏻👏🏻 I like the fact that you checked it. Smart!! It’s so funny how Toyota won’t sell you that filter, and instead only that expensive pump. (I do see them go bad)
What about the 2012 4Runner? Does the pump affect fuel mileage? Is it possible for this pump to be underperforming and not give a code? Why not just leave the cover off (looks cool).
This morning in Sussex county NJ, I got a P2443 System Switching Valve Stuck closed bank 2 on my 2015 Gen 5 with 153k on it. I'm going to order this. I plan on clearing the code & seeing what happens. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!
@@VikingsGarage Just ran & drove it for 20 mins. The code hasn't returned yet. Too soon to tell though. It was 17 degrees this morning. So we'll see. Thank You so much for all the amazing tips. Merry Christmas, to you Sir & the family. :)
Hey 👋👋 like your videos , keep with the good work 👍 . Have one ? When I do this my 4RUNNER is going to get 20 HPMore. My have 83 thousand 😂😂 I do it anyway.
@Vikings Garage I live in a very dry and dusty climate, desert in Arizona. If doing this mod on a new 4Runner, would you leave the stock foam in the housing and install the Uni filter pod? Or remove the stock foam and only run the Uni filter?
4Runners are very noisy and loud.. can you please make a video on what kind of noises dose these trucks makes because I feel like you’re familiar with them and very knowledgeable about them. I’ve already took my truck twice to the dealer because of some noises that I keep hearing in my new TRD ORP and the dealer keep telling me that it’s normal.. maybe it is I don’t know lol 😂😂
This is great! I’ll purchase the other filter you recommended. One question, does it cause any code errors in the system if the air flow alters with the new air filter ?
Was wondering what was under that cap. Ordering my filter tonight and will include to check it every 15k. Great info. Ashame you can't get the OE part. Just curious do you have to reinstall the cover. It actually looks cool without it?
Hey sir. Quick question for you. Toyota batteries have an 84 month warranty but realistically how long do they last? I have a 22 with 57k miles. Also what battery brand do you recommend? Stay with OEM?
Is this an oiled filter like the k&n? Do you think excess oil will coat the fan and attract more dirt to it or effect anything else in the system? Thanks for the tip!

Thanks VG! I never knew that filter existed. I've got 137K miles on my 4R...I'm a little over due replacing it😬
Due a quick check on it, and check its condition. 🤞🏻
@@VikingsGarage Will do...thanks!
Big Thanks to your hard work! Keep up the good work for the 4R community.

Much appreciated!! Thank you!
I was a little worried about that little filter in there. Good work. I’ll be ordering one for my 21’ with 52k miles. Appreciate it
God bless~
Better safe than sorry. Appreciate you!
@@VikingsGaragefinally got my filter and did this this afternoon. Easy. My filter was pretty clean but didn’t want to have to worry about it later on.
👏🏻 Right on!!

Thanks! there was someone in the facebook groups looking for info on this pump not more than a couple of days ago!
You got it!
I should probably post it in there! 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks bro I'm doing it today, thank you for putting the link for the filter in the description.
You’re very welcome!!
Enjoy!!
Thank You never new this had a filter 2016 4Runner 74,000 miles

I’ve had my eye on this mod for a minute. Thanks for the video.

VG,
Just an FYI; no A.I.R. pump on FJ Cruisers until 2013-2014 U.S. models (thankfully!).
For reference, I have an '07 & an '11. Great channel, btw! 👍
I appreciate the correction, close enough 😅
I don’t know about that. 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you for the great video 🤙 going to go check mine right now !
You got it! 🤙🏻
Thanks for making the video!.
I reached out on Instagram and appreciate you creating the content to help!!
Will be changing mine 52k miles currently.
Anytime!! 🙏🏻
Dude your the best...
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Just an idea. Maybe make a video on cleaning the MAF sensor. It’s super easy but I think people overlook the importance of cleaning it.
Your absolutely right!!
It is super important, I’m going to see if we can make a whole episode of it!!
Thank you for suggesting it!!
Same thing applies to Lexus models too.
💯
Thanks for that, great information.👍
You’re very welcome!!
What about the 2012 4Runner?
Does the pump affect fuel mileage?
Is it possible for this pump to be underperforming and not give a code?
Why not just leave the cover off (looks cool).
Any issues in that system will trigger a code. And yes it does come with one
@@VikingsGarage Thank you for your reply to my questions. Excellent information, I'll be checking mine this weekend.

That valve might be permanently stuck, but worth clearing it up and see if it returns. 🤞🏻

Either one or the other.
Otherwise too much restriction can become a problem.
I have a question what happens if the water goes there? I mean the mushroom shape of the plastic is not for avoid that?
If you got water that high, you’ll have bigger problems Sir.

By the way, it is normal, I’m sure of it.
These are over all very noisy trucks.
Completely normal!! 😉

@MRNagiii I did make this one a while back:

Great info! How has the 4runner been running ever since the filter install? Any codes or red flags to be aware of?
Sir, I do not recommend anything to anyone that would have such outcome.
Amazing content ! Ty! So going with the aftermarket filter, the OEM filter stays out correct , no need to reinstall it? Ty!
That’s correct.
This is great! I’ll purchase the other filter you recommended. One question, does it cause any code errors in the system if the air flow alters with the new air filter ?
To my knowledge, it does not.
I’ve been doing this for years.
ZERO ISSUES
leaving that foam thing clogged up in there will cause issues, guaranteed.
Thanks for the advice!! Much appreciated
@GeorgeTua-ol9od 👍🏻
filter is currently unavailable through the link you provided
Thank you for letting me know.

👏🏻You can totally keep that cover off.
I thought manufacturers have to maintain standard emissions equipment. How can they discontinue the filter?
That’s an easy one to answer.
They don’t want you owning a car more than 5 years.
So it looks like my 2011 DOES NOT HAVE this pump. Unless you know it is in a different location, I cannot find it if it is.
It seems that you don’t have it Sir.
Awesome tip, thank you.
👍🏻
Nice! My next project.
I might have missed it but what is the purpose of those switching valves?
Lowering the emission levels during a cold start, by cooling the catalytic converters.
@@VikingsGarageahhh ok cool. Thx!
@Treetopflyer777 👍🏻 Enjoy your weekend Sir!!
@@VikingsGarageyou as well!
Great video brother 👍
God bless you! Thank you
Much appreciated!! 🙏🏻
Thats pretty cool man thank you.
🤙🏻
I checked mine on a 2014 Tacoma and its gone, nonexistent.what or whats the next step
But the filter I linked in the description and be done with it.
Leaving it that way will eventually take out those expensive emissions pumps.
Hey sir. Does a 2022 Tundra have this same emissions pump? Appreciate you.
No Sir.
Hey sir. Quick question for you. Toyota batteries have an 84 month warranty but realistically how long do they last? I have a 22 with 57k miles. Also what battery brand do you recommend? Stay with OEM?
Always stay with OEM, they last about 5 years with regular driving habits.
Have you used other Foxwell products?
Thinking of ordering the OBD2 scan tool.
Is this an oiled filter like the k&n? Do you think excess oil will coat the fan and attract more dirt to it or effect anything else in the system? Thanks for the tip!
I did specifically say “ I bought this one because it DOES NOT use oil.”
Enjoy!
Ha! You did. What i get for not paying attention.
@VikingsGarage Can you double check the link for this filter? I ordered it, and it says it's an oiled filter.
@steves5825 It is the right one. You don’t need to oil it, only if you choose to.
@@VikingsGarage Gotcha, thank you!
Do you have a part number?
Are you serious?
Did you watch the whole video?
thats genius
🙏🏻😅
That is slick!!

Nice one Vikings Garage....I'm ordering one for my 2015 4Runner!! Thanks 👍
Anytime, I changed mine a bit prematurely but this information was way to important to not get it out there.
Does this pump in my 2021 tundra ?
Not in the same exact configuration but YES.
(Yours is hidden behind the passenger front fender well)
I have same exact filter on my SAIS for now. Come 7 years I'm installing the delete kit. Those pumps are so useless
I do agree Sir!!
When they go bad, turns into an expensive ordeal.
Totally useless.
Talon Sei? is that you🧐
No Sir , Paul here from the Vikings Garage 🤘🏻
