    It's so amazing to see the expansion of public infrastructure, particularly trains, as it will improve the lives of local people first and foremost in so many ways and its a nice bonus for those of us who repeatedly visit the city. Nice video!

      What I respect is how Bangkok has lowered the price of the train system for locals! This is unheard of in the rest of the greedy world

    • @kevinp8108
      @kevinp8108 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately, not all Thais can afford the ticket prices. If a Thai is making 400 baht per day or $12 USD, paying 60 baht to rise the train is 16% of his/her daily wage. To give you some perspective, a Westerner making $120 USD per day would pay about $19 USD to ride this train daily.

      I think you missed the point on this one Kevin.. pink line is free and the other lines are getting price capped at 20 baht max. Even for 1-2 hour rides it's 20 baht. That's well within the budget for a Thai

    • @Sebernica

      @@ProjectBangkok I'm Thai. Pink line will be free only until January. Also, 20 baht cap is for Purple line & Red line. This causes the loss of 7.4 million baht per day!!! Of course, government has to subsidize this shortfall. So, in short, I can't see 20 baht cap will last that long, my friend. FYI, the reason why they do 20 baht cap is the fact that it was a part of "Puea Thai Party"' election campaign. After election, they pretended to stay quiet. They thought people might have forgotten about it. Later on, social media started to bring out the digital footprint which contains their promise. Ended up, they had to do it. But, of course, they've never had any blueprint, how to sustainable execute that plan. So, they had to use public money to subsidize, day by day.

    I live walking distance to the Muang Thong Thani station. I love how the trains hang out over nothing and, if you are next to a window, you can look straight down. A friend was sceptical about no driver until I showed him video. The trains are traveling kinda slow now and when they get within a hundred meters of a station, they slow to a crawl but I read that the final speed will be 80km/hr. The automobile drivers are waiting on other car drivers to give up their cars and take the Sky Train and leave the streets clear for them. Unfortunately, they are ALL waiting for each other. I rode on a Saturday and there were rarely more than a half-dozen people waiting at each station. SIAM Water Park has the second largest wave pool in Asia and the World's tallest water slide. Thanks for sharing.

    7:05 That is Orange Line which goes along Ramkhamhaeng and Rama IX area. The interesting places would be Rajamankla (Indoor Stadium Hua Mark), Ramkhamhaeng University, and will be connect with MRT Blue Line (Underground) at Thailand Cultural Center station.
    The stations and tracks are all completed but they haven't start the signal system and order trains due to legal auction problems with private sectors. We hope that the government could solve this issues and be able to operate this line before 33rd SEA game in 2025 which will happen in Bangkok (Indoor Stadium Hua Mark is the main venue).

      @@Iceyfire12 It used to have the same problem with Light Red Line (Bang Sue Grand Central - Talingchan), this line the stations and tracks are completed in 2012 but the main Dark Red Line haven't start yet due to strong political protest in 2013 along with Coup d'état in 2014. At that time the fiscal plan was restructure that's why Bang Sue Grand is build many years later.
      Back to the Orange Line, the government split into 2 pharses. The Ease Orange (Minburi - Thailand Cultural Center) has only stations and tracks construction in the contracts. The operation system and trains are included in West Orange (Thailand Cutural Center - Bang Khunnon) pharse. The initial plan they put this way is they think the operator should be the same through route either BTS or BEM. But the auction is not transparent so one of these train operator sue the government and the case is now in the court.

    The Promenade is mostly restaurants and small (mostly not chain) stores.
    The chain stores tend to be in the larger Fashion Island. i.e. If you want MK, Fuji, Pizza Company, Sizzler, that's all in Fashion Island.
    Grand Station is essentially the front part of Fashion Island. When I first went there, that part of the mall had it's own monorail inside suspended from the roof, but I think there was an accident and it was closed down.
    The Promenade and the large Home Pro store behind it are relatively recent additions. A lot of the rebranded Grand Station is where HomePro used to be before they moved to the other side of the car parks.
    I do worry that Fashion Island being on the pink line might mean that it's like the Tesco at On Nut on the BTS, and they'll have to start charging for parking. (Or they may just block the entrance in the morning rush hour and open slightly later so that commuters can't use it just as a place to park).

    I'm still not convinced about these monorails. Will they last long? I feel like they will break down easily. Compared to a proper trains that have steel wheels on steel rails, these "monorails" have rubber tyres, meaning they can get punctured. How reliable can they possibly be?
    Also, why are these coaches so short?? If they can accommodate only 2 doors per coach then their length must be, like, half of a normal MRT coach, right?
