I totally agree with the ‘everybody has three names and does not show up again until 15 pages after the first appearance’ comment lol😂

This was a fun ride - more entertaining than the book itself by the sounds of it! 😄😉

I thought this vlog journey of reading one book alone was fantastic. It was so interesting just to see the evolution of your understanding and appreciation and critique of the book through all the various stages of your reading.

Hm I’ve always had Doctor Zhivago on my mental TBR but now I’m not sure… maybe I’ll still try it some day! I don’t know a lot about that period of Russian history past the basics so I might want to do some Googling first. I loved War and Peace though so at least Doctor Zhivago is shorter!

I started the audio book and could not listen to more than 15 minutes because I too would constantly lose concentration and drift off!!! I think it was all the names that I just couldn't connect to... Going to try reading it in print

Thanks for the honest book report. I am finally reading "Dr Zhivago" also, after years of keeping the film as my #1 favorite epic. My impressions regarding the novel are similar to yours in many respects. I'm sorry to have to inform you that "Anna Karenina" will leave you equally dumbfounded. As much as I love Tolstoy - I've read "War and Peace" with great pleasure - I could not stomach the protagonist of the novel. She was a thoroughly disgusting character, and the pace of the novel was somewhat stupifying. Cheers! And, so keep up the good work.

I have also read Anna Karenina, I don’t mind disgusting characters if they’re interesting
