Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
Last week I showed how I would customize a basic pants pattern to make it fit your individual body shape. This week, I'm putting the pattern to the test. Sewing it up in a woven wool with a back zipper!
    Hope you like it,
    Marie

Thanks for two great videos on pants. It's good to see a real woman doing real things and sharing the experience. I just might try pants again. I subscribed too.

Very nice. Now I want to make something wool. Your home makes me homesick for our farm in NE Pennsylvania we left 25 yrs. ago when we moved to NE Georgia. I miss the snow…my husband not so much. 😉. You make very nice quality videos. I’ve just found you and will be binge watching them. Before I retired, I accumulated vintage patterns from the 80s and 90s so I could make the styles I like and I think your videos are going to help me along. Thank you.

I think the pants look really nice and slimming. I was questioning when the back zip...back to the 80s and early 90s. Lol but I think I need to make a pair. We need a flash back every once in a while!

The fit came out great! Thanks for the reminder to use the pinking shears when trimming back the crotch seam. I always forget to use mine and just trim with my regular scissors. Much better results with the pinking shears.

It's now Jan. 5 and we have no snow! Your opening video makes me very homesick for a snowy Winter. By the way-your pants looks great on you!

The opening panoramic footage of your farm in the snow was particularly lovely. I played through it twice! As always, your presentation is so smooth and well said. I’ve tried to talking a camera and it’s not easy! Thanks for such well put together content.

The pants look warm & comfortable. I nearly always choose navy, black, or brown pants, but winter static can sometimes cause them to be magnets for lint or hair.🥴 Thank goodness for lint rollers! Happy holidays!

The trousers look great, very flattering. I think next time, if I were you, I would take a little bit in around the high hip. That would get rid of the need to ease it into the waist facing as well but then, that’s me. I’ve got this pattern and will have a go with it. Thankyou for the fitting video that goes with this pattern, really helpful. Merry Christmas

On the previous video i think she took different amounts off the side seams. I think she needed the same off the front side seam, Also that thick interfacing may have shrunk the facing a little. I only use viscose interlining as it works with the fabric without being so stiff. Totally wearable with a nice jacket.

I just watched the fitting video and I'm so glad you uploaded this right away. i wanted to see how it came out. I have learned more from you than any other TH-cam creator. we didn't have home economics that included sewing when I was a kid. Late Gen x'er here. Here I am in my mid-40s, finally making some pants. There is one other creator that shows a lot of pattern adjusting but you give us the full picture and it is fantastic!

Great fit. Even though you say it’s not a style you normally wear, reconsider since they are very flattering on you. Loved the floral waist facing, nice pop of color. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to get these made. I’ll refer back to this on any future pant I attempt. Happy New Year.

We got snow also, pretty but cold.
These pants are very nice. I'll try to get that pattern. I have belly, no butt, but my daughter has the thighs and butt and has SUCH a hard time finding rtw clothes that fit.
And she likes mom to sew for her!
I also use a wet towels for tempering wool in the dryer

Pants look great! I find wool to be a bit scratchy and would probably line the. You were right on with fitting. I, too, have "ample" hips and would need to do the same type of fitting techniques that you used.
In the past, I made the Cashmerette Ames jeans, and they fit my ample hips. Their video helped a lot with the fly front construction.
As always, Thank you for the informative video. You are terrific!

Marie! I just want to say thank you for your content. I really appreciate the detail and dedication you put into these videos. I’m working full time and have a toddler at home so finding time to sew these days is challenging but you’ve inspired to sew up my first trouser pattern as soon as I get the chance. You make it look so easy and have really demystified the process for me. Happy New Year to you. All the best in 2024!

Kind of a classic style of slacks. I think you could have gone a little smaller and still had ease and comfort. They will work for either casual or dressy.

I feel your pain about separating the wonder tape from the paper backing. That is why I tear, instead of cut, when I apply it. It doesn’t look as pretty, but you have no problem peeling the paper away! 😊

    • @cleanqueen75
      @cleanqueen75 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I’ve had some Wonder tape that wouldn’t stick. Lately I had to take a pin to get it started to peel the paper backing off.

Yes! They fit superbly and look very comfy. And if there's something that makes my little heart sing it has got to be pretty facings and linings and such. Of course I adore that facing, it has small, pretty flowers. I love the way you encourage pins and so on to co-operate. "Come on" you say, just as if they really could hear you and need a little coaxing and reassuring that if they try they'll see it really isn't that hard or scary. It's the same voice I used to use with our cat when we first got him (he was abandoned) and he was afraid to come inside the house. It took more than a year but he finally came in - and then he proceeded to make every last inch of the place "his". A bit like your cat who sleeps on your trousers if you haven't left the ironing board set up properly for bedtime!! :-)

Enjoyed watching and learning. I always seem to have a bunch of extra fabric in my front when I sit with this type of pants and zip in back. I’ve found with my hip to waist ratio the same I eliminate darts and fly zip works miracles for me. With my last wool pants, I learned to line them and they turned out so nice. Thank you for teaching people to sew!

I watch you from the UK, so greetings from across the pond! Thanks so much for these trouser making videos. I’ve been steeling myself up to make a pair for a while, and now some extra pounds have crept on - but you have encouraged me, saying it’s only numbers and it’s the fit that counts, so I’ll have a go, using your tips! Thanks so much and Happy New Year!

Loved this - really helpful. I’m watching it while creating my final pattern from following the so over it stitch school, drafting the trouser block class, with a few tweaks! You’re right about the time it takes to set up everything to film a sew along! Probably why I’ve only done one so far! Those trousers look great on you. You’ve made me reconsider buying a pattern with a back zip. I’ve never had one on trousers, but it’s weird given how many skirt patterns have it. New subscriber!

Hi Marie really liked this video and the pants look great, only I have a problem getting a back zipper zipped up as
I have bad shoulders and cannot do a back zipper. Could I just transfer that little dot around to the side and proceed with an invisible zipper? That would work much better for me & oh yes loved the panoramic view of your farm and the SNOW 👏🏻👏🏻!!! I’m from Central Kansas but now live in Central Arkansas and don’t get snow here just an occasional flurry 🥴 HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉 & HAPPY SEWING !!! Virginia in Arkansas
