Great and useful as always. I would like to learn about pads, I think it's so underrated in the psy scene and I didn't find many good tutorials about how to make the pad sound dreamy and magical just like you did in cydonia intro with liquid soul.
I think it would be great if you could do a tutorial about stereo field, or to be more precise about paning and mid/side processing that you mentioned here, how to get that really stereo field when you can clearly hear whats in the mid and whats in the right and left channel. Inace, bodes teme samo tako, uz dash glitcha najjaci kanal sto se tice psihodelije
There is a free 3rd party plugin out there for doing mono to stereo /stereo widening.. its wider by infected mushroom :) Thx for the great informative videos btw
Not doing anything about the background hum of the sample? Was hoping to get some tips on how to remove that. Been using Izotope de-noise/de-hum (RX7 Elements), but doesnt always work well enough. Been meaning to demo Brusfri by Klevgrand, but not got around to it yet.
Kick cannot have the key, you could tune the tail of the kick, but what are you gonna do when you make a track in D or C#? Than your kick freq will be around 30, and we all make a low cut around 35hz, so there is no much sense to try to tune the kick. I don't say you shouldn't pitch the kick in order to align it with the bass, but making a kick on the key for me is not possible. I will say once again, the kick is pitched signal from 20khz to 50-40hz with an average length of 200ms, so in those 200ms kick has all key tones, it's pitched signal form 20kz to 40hz is all key tones. Even the tail of kick will have a slight pitch-down. My advice is not to try to tune the kick, change it's pitch until you find the nice spot for in order to align it with the bass, and that's all.
for me i cant find the standard gain of a kick so i affraid of making kicks by my self , i though that if i grab a kick in sample pack then i know that the gain is in standard mode and i am good in mastering with this one
@@donooco5667 measure peak and rms level of a sample that you like and compare it to your own, if theres i big diference try to get to there with eq and comps maybe
@@donooco5667 95% of samples are normalised on 0db peaks, depends of a sound design it depends what gain they are. When I make my kicks, I try to put on 0db peaks kick and -3db or -4db rms.
Agree with the first part, even though the whole process can be used for processing the vocals, which was the main reason for making this video. Second, you are not right. Using a compressor is not a restoration. Fixing the dynamics manually is not a restoration. Using EQ is not a restoration. Restoration of the "speech" or the human voice would be the process of removing the background noises and then restoring the quality lost during that process.
Great video, but I don't agree with your EQ processing routine on vocals. I always EQ it depending on the actual sound qualities on the sound and the place it is going. For example, you have the psychoacoustic amplification around 1-2k Hz which makes the EQ there unnecessary. Secondly, you have that essing-problem that you don't really solve without a de-esser or other types of EQ. Sure your compressor takes out a bit of it but I still don't dig it.
You are right, but EQing the vocals is a huuuge topic and we could all do 10hrs only about that! I just ask you to understand the duration of those videos and some that to many people with different levels of knowledge are watching those videos. It is a problem for me for me to set the level of process in those videos regarding a differnt levels of knowlegde of a people who are watching those videos. Boost on 1-2k hz is mostlly because psy trance tracks are already full in this range, and boost in this area is smart in order to make those vocals to be heard better. As most of vocals disapear inside the mix if there are other sounds in the background. Esspecially when analyze kick&bass peaks in this area as well. This was one of hardes topic to cover in this video and that’s why is named “The Basics”. Also i am not an expert in this topic but i got plenty of request for it. Secondy, when you boost from 2-5k hz is techinques when you want to bring any sound “In face”.
Regarding the De-Essin problem, if i explained that, i would need to go more and more deep about it, but i decided to keep it simple, i know it’s not a pro video when comparing to others, but i coverd this topic whit some basic things, and yes, i could do this video much deeper and better! All the best!

very useful!! thank you so much!!
Great insight into vocal editing!
Could u use the Voxengo PHA "Force to Mono" as third party software to make it mono?
Yes, but vocals are mono when you record them. If you use cubase, there is a easier option to make it mono

Thanks for all you do

the title is "The Basic Vocal Processing" , in this video I covered only few things,. Please read again the text from the beginning of the video.
bro how we can change the key of a kick ? ( maybe a kick in sample packs )
