    charging voltage is 14.4V--14.9V, and charging current is 2A. Too high voltage will cause battery swell or damange. Too big current will be quick charging, However, shorten battery life. I had worked in Leafun Power for 20 years in battery chargers industries.

      Hello Zhang, appreciate if you can help me with an advice before buying a battery and charger. I dont know much about batteries and chargers. Do you think this charger here (www.jumia.com.ng/1224v-auto-lead-acid-battery-car-motorcycle-scooter-pulse-battery-charger-200ah-generic-mpg803649.html) is suitable for this battery here (www.jumia.com.ng/blue-gate-ups-and-rechargeble-fan-replacement-battery-21929640.html)? Thanks.

      @@spiritme6047 , I checked two products for battery and battery charger. I found this charger power is 220W, that is to say, Current should be about 18A at 12 Volts output. But your battery is only 12 Volts 7AH, So current is too large, it is not suitable.( Although it is very very quick for charging full, battery life will be shorten.)
      Advice about charger choice: Smart 12Volts 1.5A (MAX), and charging time is about 6 hours.

    i've made a bunch of these over the years. i've got them on old printer power supplies, laptop, and tv power supplies. i usually tape, or screw the converter, buck or boost, to the top of the PS. i usually charge with the PS plugged into a power monitor, like a "kill a watt" or similar device, so i can monitor current the whole time. i even charge 9v batteries that haven't gotten below around 8v, by making sure the battery doesn't get more than about .2 watt of power. i charge 18650 cells, and i'll let them pull in between 1 and 2 amps.
    that converter you used here, i think, needs a heat sink on the chip for 5 amps.

    • @jonathanclark7444
      @jonathanclark7444 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@qnaman this is late I am sure you have figured it out but in the future watts = amps * voltage so your fridge is pulling 90/220 amps since the voltage is 220, if your efficiency is 97% you need about 103.1% more power (1/.97) so about .422 amps. From here devide the amp hour rating which is 7 in the video, by the current draw so in this case 7/.422 or about 16.5 hours

      Safe discharge level for an automotive lead acid battery is only few percent due to risk of sulfation, and should never dip under 50%. For a deep cycle AGM battery safe discharge is about 50%. Effectively all lead batteries have only half of the theoretical capacity, otherwise you drastically shorten their lifespan.

    You got everything wrong the current limit is 2.1A and charging voltage is 14.4v to 15v! It's written on the battery!!
    13.5v to 13.8v is used to maintain a fully charged battery!

    • @LahisTechLT
      @LahisTechLT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      If the charging current is 2.1A you could charge it quickly. But the battery will not last long.
      The typical charging voltage is between 2.15 volts per cell (12.9 volts for a 12V 6 cell battery) and 2.35 volts per cell (14.1 volts for a 12V 6 cell battery). These voltages are appropriate to apply to a fully charged battery without overcharging or damage. If the battery is not fully charged you can use much higher voltages without damage because the charging reaction takes precedence over any over-charge chemical reactions until the battery is fully charged. This is why a battery charger can operate at 14.4 to 15 volts during the bulk-charge phase of the charge cycle.

    • @hugopnabais
      @hugopnabais 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@LahisTechLT If you leave your charger connected to the battery for many hours you should limit to 14.1V.
      But If you want a regular charger and just use your battery when charged, charge at least at 14.4V.
      You are not correct about the 2.1A. It's stated by the manufacture, and I'm sure you can charge at 2A with no problem because I use and charge two 12V 7Ah Lead batteries.
      I charge them every weekend at 14.4V and 2.1A and after almost 5 years they work just fine and charge just fine.

      @@hugopnabais I think it depends if cycle use or standby floating use. Manufacturer give you 2 voltage range choices. For the current i think may be better go little lower than maximum initial current to preserve battery life. Modern chargers will integrate algorithms to monitor V/I on battery for optimum charge and adapt also V/I

    • @Kini_the_Fox
      @Kini_the_Fox 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is no limit to current you can supply to this converter. Unlike diodes, boost converters and buck converters (as well as just about any electronic device) are only negatively effected by over-volting. They will only draw as much current as they need. So if your power supply is 12V 50A, but your converter only needs 12v 4A, it will only draw 4A, and the remaining 46A will just be left unused as potential energy. Just make sure your input power supply can supply enough current to the converter, or it will overload.
      Most cheap buck converters like the one in this video can only OUTPUT 4 or 5 amps. To figure out how much current you need for your INPUT (power supply), use Ohm’s Law. For example: If your output requirement is 5V 4A, multiply Volts times Amps and your total power will be 20 Watts. Now lets pretend your input voltage is 12v. Divide your total power (20W) by your supply voltage (12V) to get the required current to power your circuit, which in this hypothetical case is 1.66 Amps. I would give a little more current for headroom and power factor, so I’d say in this case your power supply should be 12v 2A.
      The best analogy for current I’ve heard is this: think of your device as a dog, and your power supply as the dog’s water bowl. You can give the dog access to hundreds of gallons of water, but since the dog only needs a little bit, they will only take a little bit.
      Hope this helps

    why this shows green led on when you connect to the low voltage battery?

    • @MrAzureKite
      @MrAzureKite 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because that Lead-acid battery is dead, and even if you "force charge" it to get it back to the nominal voltages, it will be most likely unusable.
      Lead acid batteries in general don't like being deeply discharged, and they lose capacity everytime it happens. the one he's plugging into the charger need to be replaced with a new one

    Sir i buy the dc to dc converter so i will gave input using transformer with an bridge rectifier with filter capacitor. If any problem replay me zoon going to assemble

    • @hrfarms687
      @hrfarms687 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem, the problem is that transformer drops the voltage when a load is connected, for example if you have a transformer that can output 15V, when connected to load it drops to 13V or below, so its better to use a smps like laptop chargers.
