The Holy Church in the Nasuverse seems to be an amalgamation of many different Christian denominations, at least from a doctrinal perspective. While in the lore, the Holy Church is more affiliated with the Catholic Church, their priests seem more akin to Protestant ministers than actual Catholic priests (can’t marry). Moreover, the 8th sacrament is more like doctrine than an actual sacrament, which are sacred rituals. Besides, it’s actually heresy to add sacraments to the original 7 since they need to come directly from Jesus. In real life, the organization of the Catholic Church is far more complicated than what’s shown on media. Besides the priestly hierarchy, there’s the many religious orders with their own organizations, the council of bishops present in any country where Catholicism is prominent, and the 25 other smaller Catholic denominations that act under yet somewhat independent of the central Catholic Church.

However, I began dating a girl that had studied theology, and some of the stuff she talked about really made me feel curious about Christian myths, cosmology and whatnot. Whenever you have nothing to do, listen to some videos talking about the apocryphal gospels, Judas' gospel, the keys of Solomon, theories about Earth being created by a lesser god (that's why he was bad in the OT) and then a greater god sending Jesus as his son (that's why the NT overwrites most of the OTs teachings and traditions), the nephilim (even Gilgamesh is mentioned in some texts as one of the nephilim). It may have no religious value to you, but as lore, it's interesting to know that there are more things than Adam, Eve, sudden pregnancy and the cross. Most Catholic priests know and deeply study stuff like that, but don't share it with random people in order to not make the followers doubt their faiths. Even my then gf was reluctant to talk about stuff like that.

Funny story, the first nosuvers thing I encountered was the Fate Zero anime. I did not know anything about it, and for the first several episodes of its run I thought that Kirei Kotomine was the main protagonist. One thing I can not find out is how the sacrame works? Thay can not be normal “Od” magecraft, since the church does not only use people with the magic circuits. So is it richil bases “furmall craft”, but that is instinct with the feets we see with black keys. However we only see these feats, altering their size and trajectory on the fly, out of church members that just so happen to have magic circuits. Is it item based “spiritron”, but stuff like baptism is not dependent on items. I know I am massively overthinking this, but which is it?
I’ll explain in the general so you can use this as a framework for most other magecrafts. In order for a human to cause supernatural effects on the world they must activate a foundation laid out by beings of great power before. Mages do this by utilizing mystery and the foundation left behind by Solomon in the form of Ars Goetia. The Church uses the foundation created by God to perform miracles. Now foundations don’t require circuits to use rather each have their own set of rules for accessing them. In the case of the church performing the correct rites with a strong faith and will activates the foundation allowing executors to perform miracles per the rules laid out by that foundation circuits simply add power to that process.

Imagine if the protag was an executioner or sum. idk if u guys have ever listened to the song "bloodhail" by have a nice life. fantastic song btw but itd be cool if the plot was similar to what the songs about. Basically its about the human capacity of indifference. Its a reference from one of Antiochus' lectures (a greek king who id love to see in fgo). In the lecture, a scene is depicted of a hunter who will strike down god with a flurry of arrows. To reach the heavens, all humans make a staircase of bodies. Hooking their arms and legs together, the people assist the hunter in his attempt to kill god. Hunter is rebelling against their innate being and attempting to find meaning/the ability to care in the death and destruction around him. We can only assume that after climbing to heaven and killing god, The Hunter would ascend to some kind of state of quasi-godhood. The set of stairs made by the entire human race is a reference to the fact that theological establishment (and, more broadly, God as a concept) is made possible by the billions of people that subscribe to it as a world view. We are the set of stairs, being used for someone else’s religious exaltation. Anyways this would be a cool ass plot for the holy church in the nasuverse, pretty dark and heavy. The protag is the hunter
The writers of the various Fate works need to brush up on the inner working of the Catholic Church. The fact that priests have wives and children in Fate show these writers have no clue about Church practices.

She is a combination of different existences, a bit like other Alter Egos. She has the body of Illyasviel von Einzbern and the saint graph combination of Freyja and Louhi.
Sitonai is from a very obscure Ainu tale (the original inhabitants of Hokkaido) about the daughter of a village chief that slays an Orochi serpent to save her people. They then built a shrine to seal the serpent and in honor of her courage. The story is almost exactly like the tale of Li Chi, so there’s a debate of which is the original. It’s also extremely obscure. On the other hand Sitonai is also merged with the evil Finnish witch Louhi and the goddess Freyja as parts of her. Louhi is an unknown for me but you can find her story easily in a wiki, unlike the super obscure Sitonai legend. Btw, the reason Sitonai has a bear is because of the Ainu’s reverence to bears as sacred animals.

But it is likely they gave her a bear in design both as an in-joke (Ilya’s original idea in Fate to turn Shirou into a doll of sorts) and because of the Ainu culture itself. Many things end up contributing to the design, beyond merely the final lore excuse. Most disgusting example would be the reason for mr “Detroit Emiya” (where the designer just wanted to give him a thug look and came up with the magic overuse excuse afterwards).
So basically, the Catholic Church preaches, the Holy Church acts on what is preached ONLY close at home, but is quite content to completely ignore what the Catholic, Evangelical, and most of the other denominations that we know of says. And the Burial Agency is basically an outsourced part of the Holy Church that would horrify the Catholic/Evangelica/Etc Church. Cause as much as the Holy Church acts like it's the same as the Catholic/Evangelic/Etc denominations, I'm pretty sure most, if not all, religous teachings discourage human experimentation...
My " favourite " side in Nasuverse :v As a big fan of religious thingy in anime/manga/VN/LN, im happy Nasu made the Holy Church as not 100% good or bad. God is perfect, but his followers are not 🙏
Weapons that don't just shoot energy or ammo or whatnot. They're built to enforce a concept or idea onto their target. Black barrel, for instance, forces the concept of death onto beings that are otherwise immortal. Astolfo's spear was famous for knocking a giant to his knees, so as a servant the weapon forces targets to fall over by temporarily erasing their legs. Stuff like that.

Funny story, the first nosuvers thing I encountered was the Fate Zero anime. I did not know anything about it, and for the first several episodes of its run I thought that Kirei Kotomine was the main protagonist.
One thing I can not find out is how the sacrame works? Thay can not be normal “Od” magecraft, since the church does not only use people with the magic circuits. So is it richil bases “furmall craft”, but that is instinct with the feets we see with black keys. However we only see these feats, altering their size and trajectory on the fly, out of church members that just so happen to have magic circuits. Is it item based “spiritron”, but stuff like baptism is not dependent on items. I know I am massively overthinking this, but which is it?
I’ll explain in the general so you can use this as a framework for most other magecrafts. In order for a human to cause supernatural effects on the world they must activate a foundation laid out by beings of great power before. Mages do this by utilizing mystery and the foundation left behind by Solomon in the form of Ars Goetia. The Church uses the foundation created by God to perform miracles. Now foundations don’t require circuits to use rather each have their own set of rules for accessing them. In the case of the church performing the correct rites with a strong faith and will activates the foundation allowing executors to perform miracles per the rules laid out by that foundation circuits simply add power to that process.
Dang, to think that the Church had so much depth in Fate, it definitely needs more clarity.

Fuuuck ik im 3 years late but the holy church is so underused. id love if nasu expanded on it more with a dedicated story about it. Imagine if the protag was an executioner or sum. idk if u guys have ever listened to the song "bloodhail" by have a nice life. fantastic song btw but itd be cool if the plot was similar to what the songs about.
Basically its about the human capacity of indifference. Its a reference from one of Antiochus' lectures (a greek king who id love to see in fgo). In the lecture, a scene is depicted of a hunter who will strike down god with a flurry of arrows. To reach the heavens, all humans make a staircase of bodies. Hooking their arms and legs together, the people assist the hunter in his attempt to kill god. Hunter is rebelling against their innate being and attempting to find meaning/the ability to care in the death and destruction around him.
We can only assume that after climbing to heaven and killing god, The Hunter would ascend to some kind of state of quasi-godhood. The set of stairs made by the entire human race is a reference to the fact that theological establishment (and, more broadly, God as a concept) is made possible by the billions of people that subscribe to it as a world view. We are the set of stairs, being used for someone else’s religious exaltation.
Anyways this would be a cool ass plot for the holy church in the nasuverse, pretty dark and heavy. The protag is the hunter
The writers of the various Fate works need to brush up on the inner working of the Catholic Church. The fact that priests have wives and children in Fate show these writers have no clue about Church practices.

She is a combination of different existences, a bit like other Alter Egos. She has the body of Illyasviel von Einzbern and the saint graph combination of Freyja and Louhi.
It's a pseudo servant with Illya being stuffed with a few norse gods. Those gods have lore.
Sitonai is from a very obscure Ainu tale (the original inhabitants of Hokkaido) about the daughter of a village chief that slays an Orochi serpent to save her people. They then built a shrine to seal the serpent and in honor of her courage. The story is almost exactly like the tale of Li Chi, so there’s a debate of which is the original. It’s also extremely obscure.
On the other hand Sitonai is also merged with the evil Finnish witch Louhi and the goddess Freyja as parts of her. Louhi is an unknown for me but you can find her story easily in a wiki, unlike the super obscure Sitonai legend.
Btw, the reason Sitonai has a bear is because of the Ainu’s reverence to bears as sacred animals.
No, the bear is her dog. Freyja and Louhi just transformed it into a bear.
@@KeiosKod That is the Fate lore reason, since Sitonai did indeed had a dog. But it is likely they gave her a bear in design both as an in-joke (Ilya’s original idea in Fate to turn Shirou into a doll of sorts) and because of the Ainu culture itself.
Many things end up contributing to the design, beyond merely the final lore excuse. Most disgusting example would be the reason for mr “Detroit Emiya” (where the designer just wanted to give him a thug look and came up with the magic overuse excuse afterwards).
So basically, the Catholic Church preaches, the Holy Church acts on what is preached ONLY close at home, but is quite content to completely ignore what the Catholic, Evangelical, and most of the other denominations that we know of says. And the Burial Agency is basically an outsourced part of the Holy Church that would horrify the Catholic/Evangelica/Etc Church. Cause as much as the Holy Church acts like it's the same as the Catholic/Evangelic/Etc denominations, I'm pretty sure most, if not all, religous teachings discourage human experimentation...

What are conceptual weapons?
Weapons that don't just shoot energy or ammo or whatnot. They're built to enforce a concept or idea onto their target. Black barrel, for instance, forces the concept of death onto beings that are otherwise immortal. Astolfo's spear was famous for knocking a giant to his knees, so as a servant the weapon forces targets to fall over by temporarily erasing their legs. Stuff like that.

I thought it was Nasu but you need a correction. He didn't say zero wasn't canon to the Nasuverse, he said it wasn't canon to the Stay Night timeline. This means that Zero is still canon but just on an alternate timeline.
