SO sad for Steve and condolences. As someone who also lost their soul mate to cancer, its almost impossible to just say the words. Very glad he is still playing and touring.
I must say that it's always heart warming for me when I ever get to see Steve smiling. It's been hard for him, but he has found a way to find joy in what he does best! Love you Steve, Bless you!
I have always dreamed of having the Steve Morse signature guitar. I love seeing this old rocker with his usual ax making good music. I still remember with emotion the message he posted after the recent loss of his wife. Despite everything, he remains in the gap, giving us the best of himself. Thank you Steve and thank you Premier Guitar for these priceless videos.
Saw the show in CT last night. My God he's still kicking ass on all levels. I was expecting him to be slightly rusty with the wrist issues and being slightly beyond spring chicken age, but holy sweet baby Jesus...my friends, this dude does not quit! He played brilliantly as always, and everyone else was insane as well. Van Romaine was particularly off the charts. A true virtuoso on guitar and as a composer. Holy shit what a show!
I have followed Steve and the Dregs since his recital at U.M. (Rod's also) in the '70s. I would watch him play at the at campus bar and just be amazed. I've met him and Rod a few times over the decades and they seem like really nice guys! Keep it going Steve, you still kill it with technique and taste....
Yep, the Rathskeller. Back then he was using an Ampeg and a couple Acoustic Control 150s. I don’t remember the speaker figuration, I had one with six 10’s at the time.
I absolutely love Steve Morse's playing, but enjoy his gift of composition even more. Many people can play just as well, but few can actually write music that's equal to their guitar technique. The Dixie Dregs were an amazing find when I first heard " Dregs of the earth" This was the first time I heard modern complex instrumental music that wasn't obscure washed out jazz-fusion, and to this day The Dregs are a favourite album band that is listenable to more than just a few elitist jazz intellectuals.
I've seen Steve with Flying Colors and the trio, close to 10 years apart, and both performances were just about flawless. The adaptations he has had to make due to his condition are truly imperceivable. Such a legend.
Saw the fantastic Steve Morse band in New Orleans in the nineties and eighties with Allan Holdsworth at tipitinas music club, thanks for your great music 🎵🎶 Steve and the band 🎸
The idea of Morse releasing a new Dregs album is marvelous. And I'm glad to hear he's always working on stuff - which means he has a huge backlog of stuff.
The Dixie Dregs and the Steve Morse Band are two of the most skilled groups of musicians ever assembled!!!! Steve, whose technical knowledge is impressive, and Andy are two of the best to ever play their instruments!
I saw The Dregs in the late seventies at Toad's Place in New Haven. Steve was the first guitar player I ever saw that was like an athlete. You could see his wiry arms attacking the strings. It was a great show. I remember Andy playing hammer ons while doing a shot.
Man I love Steve!!! Been listening to the Dixie Dregs for over 40 years! And still do to this day. When I listen to him it brings me back to those days when I was a kid learning to play. I love this dude! I met him at the Bottom Line here in NYC 44 years ago! Holy fuck I’m old! Steve said he was so busy he didn’t have time for anything even to just relax. I play nothing like him but he influenced me so much. I heard his wife was sick. I didn’t hear about it until now so if she passed like someone has said in these comments my heart goes out to him. ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Saw DD in Charlotte NC probably early 70s Maybe 1975. At the Double Door Inn. Fantastic! Even after all the years. Younger musicians Steve can still hang. A older slower Steve is still really good. Better than most. Of course the compositions. Nobody writes like the Dreggs. Thanks for life long memories!
Thank You for the rig run-downs. Thank You Steve Morse. Sitting here, looking at that small Dregs off the record disk. A Ensonic SQ-80 and Rackmount Photon Midi converter was my 1st midi guitar set-up.We did a lot with that SQ-80. Have a Boss GM-800 guitar synth now.Amazing how much tech,is in such a small pedal. Best Regards
Damn... that dude is a player! I have always been blown away by Steve's playing. I did see him with Deep Purple. I hope he comes around with the Dregs or his solo band. I would pay to see that in a heartbeat!
In the 80s, my band played the hotel club circuit on the East coast. One Fri. afternoon at rehearsal, Butch Trucks was in the bar which was closed. He was the road Mgr for The Dregs when they first toured. They were opening for Chuck Levell and Sea Level, and Steve walked in the third set, the last song, and while we were playing , he got on stage and played ! The next set , the whole band including Andy, played the whole set. Very gracious nice guy. He had a military road case and his old tele with 5 pups plus midi, which we knew nothing about ! Amazing pickers and Butch said they were playing hotel gigs like us until a couple of months ago ! Mind blowing to hear them in a 150-seat club !
I'm also impressed by the fact that Steve is a left-handed person who plays right-handed. Very few lefties, apart from maybe Mark Knofler, have the fortitude to adapt and flourish like this.
There's more then you think, Micheal angelo batio, Robert Fripp, Rabea massad, Duane Allman, Nick Johnston and many many more they also exist the other way, mikey demus from Skindred is right handed but plays lefty
Just saw the Dregs tonight in Albany, NY, absolutely amazing! At a little venue called the Egg the sound in that place is incredible, only maybe 3-4 hundred people there.
Steve will go down as Legend amongst Players... Respected talent! He'll also be Legend to guitar innovators who've learned from his Frankenstein creations... What an amazing dude. He's a engineer of sound! Always a Dregs fan and I'd hate to even mention this last comment, but it's a good one just the same... I kinda like his playing of late better than when we was cramming a million notes a measure... Now reliant more upon tone and a lifetime of experience translating to finesse based riffs... Allowing some space and expansion of notes!
Steve's rig has changed somewhat. He used to have just a short delay, a long delay, and a synth set to an orchestra patch, all modulated by volume pedals. The more you pushed on them, the longer the delay or the more prominent the synth became. Now Steve has a few other gimcracks like a compressor and that reverb box going.
Mr Morse… I’m deeply sorry for your loss of your wife 🙏🙏🙏 I’m sure she is looking down on you. From Sebastian Flarda. One Georgia/ Flarda boy to another ❤️
First time I've seen someone use an amp modeler correctly. Those things are not made to go through a guitar speaker cabinet or a pre-amp. It totally defeats the purpose. In a pinch, you can run a modeler through the "effects return" and hopefully your chosen model is using the same speaker size at least Edit: Oh yeah, Steve Morse is a Master. Thanks PG
Yeah... I've used D'Addario strings before, and sure they don't seem to break any more than other strings, but to me they don't actually have a particularly good tone, so I don't use them any more.
Bought 5 packs of D’Addario once. Put them on 5 different style guitars. 3 of the guitars had a broken string within an hour playing. Sorry but I won’t but them again. 25 years Ernie Ball strings have never done that.
I will not be seeing them this is my favorite band of all time favorite players of all time but I’m just not interested I stop by his solo records after 1990 high tension wires there’s nothing he did after that including deep Purpl that even remotely got my interest sorry. But to see them at 70 year old going around the country and playing a few shows I’m not interested man this is just too much I’d rather this guy sit at home and write classical guitar pieces I’m so sick and tired of his rock ‘n’ roll fantasy BS man this guy has the most potential of any composer out there and he’s being limited to 3 quart rock with some great riffs involved but still it’s just not the Steve M that I remember
What a pathetic comment that is…he physically needs assistance with it and is still a phenomenal player. Considering his age as well, he can do whatever he damn well likes

Despite his physical issues, Steve Morse remains a stupendous musician and guitar player. Just so inspiring...THANK YOU STEVE!
SO sad for Steve and condolences. As someone who also lost their soul mate to cancer, its almost impossible to just say the words. Very glad he is still playing and touring.
Music is a healer. Getting out and playing is seriously helping him cope with it!
I love Steve’s attention to his craft and his knowledge…..he is a wizard of rig setup
He’s paid his dues. More than most. Glad to see him out playing. 👍
I grew up seeing Steve and that guitar on the cover of all three guitar magazines.
I still have a couple guitar magazine and even one of his lesson tapes where he has his frankin telecaster. Sadly the lesson tape is on beta.
The poor guy's finished.
@@svtraderyou finished him? With your mouth??
@@michaelpacinus242 Listen to that picking @ 0:20. You'd pay to listen to that?

I really like the Wetter Box and the ability to adjust delay/reverb with an expression pedal. Wow.

The Dregs are a legendary band. I saw them live in Ft Lauderdale, FL recently and their performance was spectacular! Do NOT miss this show!!

Steve is the guitar players’ guitar player. So good 👍
Id like to see Andy West, Lyland Sklar, Anthony Jackson, and Les Claypool have a bassist jam session.

So's everyone knows, that there guitar is worth a fortune. For someone to own Steve's number 1? Are you kidding me? The Gentleman of Guitarists.
Steve!!!!
1:04 - Weirdest pickup configuration I've ever seen
Every guitarist take note about what he said about mid range
The spacing on Andy’s bass sounds pretty similar to John Myung’s signature basses.
The Drum Rundowns link doesn't work for me when I clock on it (at about 3:37). I couldn't find it by searching either. Can someone post a link to it?
Wish you had included Dave LaRue's bass rig as well.
Cool!!
Michael Angelo batio has his own endorse string dampened but I bought it and it does not fit any of my guitars

Either Steve is short or that guy is a giant.
Is there a height prerequisite for interviewers at PM?
Someone told me they met him backstage and he pretty much never took that guitar off
He plays with the dixe chiks
I thought he quit Deep Purple due to physical issues but looks like he is still playing.
He left to care for his wife who was battling cancer. Sadly she has passed away now.
I know this sounds strange, but he is just so "musical" in his approach. It's like he belongs in a symphony.
Does his rig include his fingers ?
So does yours.
I thought he used to play with deep purple imußt beistaken I'm old
I hope his hands are not shaking from a medical condition. I'm hoping to much caffeine.
Arthritis, unfortunately. Check out his Rick Beato interview. He talks about having to adapt his picking technique due to it.
