@@TimothyGod yup, it is even more obvious in the manga, Reiner and Ymir use the kanji for monkey while Eren uses hiragana, as if he is parroting what he hears from them and doesn’t actually know what a monkey is. Also, other characters from the walls refer to it as a "beast".
Seeing this far back in the series through the fresh eyes of a reaction always make the nostalgia hit twice as hard. May you enjoy all that lies ahead in this story
I think the best subtle hint for this is the fact that Eren doesn't know what a monkey is genuinely. However Ymir, Barry and Reiner all know what a monkey is.....
@@TimothyGod I've heard in the manga Ymir and Reiner use the kanji for monkey, while Eren uses hiragana; basically they're familiar with the word and meaning, and so use the proper character for it, while Eren is sounding it out because he doesn't actually know what the word means. The other hints are that no one else described the Beast as a monkey, they just said it was a weird titan covered in fur or described it as a beast, and we also haven't ever seen any monkeys within the walls and all knowledge about the outside world is forbidden to the point that Eren didn't believe in the ocean when told about it.
The interaction with Reiner’s compartmentalised soldier personality is so interesting to me, because you can track through his dialogue when last it was fronting. Obviously later on we get more information about why he forms his compartmentalised personalities, but I wish they dwelt on the topic a lot more because it’s such an interesting aspect of his character.
This explains why reiner was the most outgoing and happiest of the 3 traitors. Annie and Bertoldotototototo were always being crushed under the guilt and knowledge that they took part in wiping out a large chunk of humanity. Half the time, Reiner didn't even KNOW.
This episode is great. We both learn a lot and more questions. This entire time, we've assumed that the Colossal Titan was the big boss, but now that we know it's "Barry"... Well, it's clear that Reiner is the leader between them. And if you think about Ymir and her story, you may realize another secret about the series. One of those moments where you'd have to be Erwin to pick up on it, though.
Reiner was pretendig to be a "good guy" too long and he has developed a split personality. He is actually one of my favorite characters in this show, second only to Levi.
Reiner is one of my favorite characters honestly and his story is pretty awesome. The signs of PTSD are so well played in his diverging personalities, the "Soldier" and the "Warrior" him.
This was the single most fascinating episode for me for a long time. We are literally in Eren's shoes not knowing anything and asking a ton of questions to the people who do, And we are just sitting there watching the other 3 having entire conversations about what is actually going on for the whole episode, but we lack the context so both us and Eren are still completely left in the dark.
I think you may wanna inspect more the choices of dialog when Ymir ask about the beast titan, like how Eren ask about it too, it may later make more sense why it was said the way that it was said but is something to keep in mind as a small detail
for everyone and @Aliciaxlife potentially still don't know, i know im late but i just had to writes this because it driving me nuts. (Love the content BTW Alicia keep going!!!) Reiner is Bipolar he has 2 personalities, A soilder/A warrior. (sorry even tho you guys probably already know by know I just had to write this) ahhhh feels good to get that off my chest.
When I saw this scene for the first time I thought: 14:15 Reiner might have been responsible, while Annie and Bertholdt were witnesses of Marco's death. 😭Great reaction! 😃
@@strongHORNET112 is it confirmed that he's always there? Or only during certain moments? I'm sure he doesn't need to be there all the time. Eren is Eren after all, hell do somethings without being shown or told
He has seen his mother eaten, his world destroyed, learned he's what some would consider a monster, betrayed by friends. Shutting the fuck up for five minutes is the hardest challenge he's ever faced in his life. Yup sounds like Eren.
Ok, I honestly think that this doesn't count as a spoiler, because It was never said in either the manga or anime, but there is a theory that Reiner has multiple personality disorder in the manga, cause of scenes like that one at 14:33
Yessss! So excited for this one! I always enjoy your videos. Honestly, I don't watch Jojo, but I think I may go through your backlog and take another look at it soon just because I love seeing your reactions and opinions to these shows😁
When you finish aot, you've gotta go back and watch it again, on your own time. And see all the small things that are making me freak out with how the story has so much info for those who know it. Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaa the basement may be a while. We all waited liteeal years for the show to tell us
Years ago, someone once made a comment how Reiner and Bertholdt can be compared to the pilots who dropped the nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I find it very fitting.
I love the lil detail you can only get if you read this chapter instead of watch the ep. xD Its nothing major that you couldn't have guessed on your own by now when watching, but a juicy bit of clever writing.
That absolute Chad of a Man is called Moblit Berner (and they say his first name at least a couple of times in the show, his Lastname i know from Manga supplementel material^^) and as the President of the #OfficialMoblitAppreciationClub i welcome you to our ranks!^^
This might be a spoiler? It's just talking about the flash back, not revealing new info, just reiterating it "was Marco supposed to be a Titan?" I dunno maybe, I won't say yes or no. But to clarify in that flash back, Marco called someone's name, and then Reiner was confused why Marco is being eaten.
Ymir is pronounced like that in Norse mythology he is the first being and frost giant but in the anime it is pronounced like that so In culture e mere is right but in anime “ye mere’ is right
"I wanna know about the basement!" AoT in 9 minutes: go read the fxxing manga lol seriously tho, it took forever for that basement scene, but I can tell it was worth the wait
