Thanks Charlie, I try to think out the tools I make. This took some thought and trying different variations in the end I messed around 2 weeks on this and it measures a 1/10th of a pound or less air pressure.
Hi Mako, still learning at an old age how to deal with newer cars. My buddy has an 06 Forester and on that I disconnected the evap line in the engine compartment and worked back towards the tank. We fixed one leak and no codes but there may be more, I’ll hook up the machine at the same hose and watch the manometer. Just got to make sure to close all the solenoids so it’s a closed system. If the mark stays above the .020 mark then no codes but how far above is another question.
To answer your question this is Not a smoke machine, this is to test after repairs are made to make sure all leaks are sealed. When I have the time I’ll show it hooked up to a vehicle but there a ton of videos on smoke testing a EVAP system out there, look them up if your interested.
