My father flew Alitalia in the Summer of 1972 from FCO-TLV, TLV-FCO in First Class. The aircraft was a DC-8-43. He told me that the steward wore a white jacket during service. I still have the ticket folder in my collection somewhere.
"Alitalia" sounds cooler but ITA has the better livery without a doubt. One of the best I've seen. Also, I love how much bigger and quieter the NEO engines are.
I agree, views of the Alps were amazing just like the field of clouds on the Madrid - Rome leg. I also enjoyed the views of London from above. Entering the plane in Rome was a long shot, really enjoyed that. I'm pretty sure I don't like to be seated diagonal in that business class seat, although it seems comfy.

Thanks for the trip report! The ITA livery is stunning, especially the tail paint detail. It looks almost like the LV design pattern. However, the food in the business class was a total embarrassment. Even on a short flight, there should have been a full meal.

Yesterday I was in Airbus A320 simulator and if there is the simulator in your city then go because it’s cool and fun I almost made butter landing but there was crosswind

The plane was amazing and so happy you travelled in style.(apart from the food).Anyone would have to go a long way to beat the scenery which was spectacular. Very nice video, I feel like I traveled with you. To answer your question about the liveries, call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the Alitalia livery. I grew up with it and to me, it's iconic. The ITA one is also nice, but not as remarkable.

Buen video, lo que más me ha gustado ha sido las vistas de los Alpes nevados, pero quizás lo mejor ha sido la espectacular vista de Londres city . Respecto a tus preguntas me gusta más la libreta actual de Ita y sobre lo de Air Europa no me gustaría que plus ultra se llevará un trozo de pastel pues esa aerolínea estaba en quiebra hasta que la rescataron con dinero de todos los españoles. La verdad es que yo tampoco veo a Plus Ultra como una aerolínea fiable a la que fiarle la fundamental tarea de mantener cierta competencia con Iberia en las rutas de largo-radio... El tema ya no es solo en las rutas a América Latina... qué pasará con las rutas a EEUU? Ahora mismo Air Europa ofrece muchos destinos que en cuanto se fusionen... quedarán casi en exclusividad para Iberia... no se... esta fusión no termino de verla para el largo-radio... Saludos!

Great video and I love the new ITA livery! I was noticing registrations: the ITA fleet has Irish registration suggesting a financially creative situation; also the Ryanair shown at c. 18 mins has a Maltese registration...what financial skullduggery lurks out there! ITA seems to be the same as Alitalia only with less creditors. hm. And a VERY expensive interior and paint job.
@@OnBoardHD Yes I know it's due to leasing, but that in itself doesn't show a very resilient airline - you don't see other national carriers leasing all their aircraft. And they are expensively done out for leased aircraft. A bit odd IMO.
Great video mate ;-) As for Ryanair taking over some AEA slots, I think they should launch a spanish subsidary to compete and named Espania Air, like they do with Malta Air and BUZZ. What do you think ?

The lack of any kind of usb or seat power is a bad design choice by ITA. These things should be standard in 2024. Otherwise, it looked like a beautiful day to fly and you were rewarded with beautiful vistas along the way.

Es un equilibrio entre el Livery más bonito de la aviación (gusto personal) y el pésimo servicio que tienen, de las peores aerolíneas que he volado, ansiaba tanto volar con ITA y el golpe fue tremendo.. DECEPCIÓN TOTAL. Me quedo con el livery que es bonito ver surcar los cielos.
You certainly wouldn't need to be hungry if flying ITA. There onboard catering is terrible. It should also be noted that ITA no longer fly to London Heathrow but use London City airport instead.
haha absolutely! It might be that bad only on the first wave of flights that don't depart from their hub in FCO... but still, the business catering was terrible on this flight... Actually they are flying to Gatwick now.
the European Commission also gave approval for Lufthansa to buy a 41% stake in ITA which means it will become part of the Lufthansa Group and i think also a part of Star Alliance.
I fear that this nice Biz class in a A321 will be first thing to go, flying to the Middle East is no reason for LH to keep a nice Biz class product in a narrow body…
Yeah... I've seen it... But first, Avianca is not in a position to offer much more than flights to Bogotá... and Volotea is not able to provide a reliable competition. We can like it or not... but the only airline that fulfills all the European Union requirements is Ryanair. =/
@@OnBoardHD Avianca y part of a huge group called Abra. With a huge network and destinations , more than Bogota for Long Haul. Together they can apply for short and long haul slots. Wich is better for the passengers experience.

Avianca might be a good solution to keep prices at a decent level on the route to Bogotá, Cali, and/or Medellin. That's all.

I flew the A319 of Alitalia, A319 & A320 of ITA. The ITA flights were all in business class: Heathrow to Palermo via Milan. They are a great airline
I hope the integration in the Lufthansa Group will just make them better :)

I was noticing registrations: the ITA fleet has Irish registration suggesting a financially creative situation; also the Ryanair shown at c. 18 mins has a Maltese registration...what financial skullduggery lurks out there! ITA seems to be the same as Alitalia only with less creditors. hm. And a VERY expensive interior and paint job.
Alitalia also had the planes registered in Ireland. It's just because the plane owner has them registered there and leased to ITA.
@@OnBoardHD Yes I know it's due to leasing, but that in itself doesn't show a very resilient airline - you don't see other national carriers leasing all their aircraft. And they are expensively done out for leased aircraft. A bit odd IMO.

Well, as far as I've read the reason for these different airlines is just a tax criteria... they sell all the tickets under Ryanair brand and they don't try to introduce those brands to the passenger... so I guess they won't be doing anything like that =/

The lack of any kind of usb or seat power is a bad design choice by ITA. These things should be standard in 2024. Otherwise, it looked like a beautiful day to fly and you were rewarded with beautiful vistas along the way.

Es un equilibrio entre el Livery más bonito de la aviación (gusto personal) y el pésimo servicio que tienen, de las peores aerolíneas que he volado, ansiaba tanto volar con ITA y el golpe fue tremendo.. DECEPCIÓN TOTAL. Me quedo con el livery que es bonito ver surcar los cielos.

You certainly wouldn't need to be hungry if flying ITA. There onboard catering is terrible. It should also be noted that ITA no longer fly to London Heathrow but use London City airport instead.

New scenario with Avianca and Volotea , “Joint Venture”.
Yeah... I've seen it... But first, Avianca is not in a position to offer much more than flights to Bogotá... and Volotea is not able to provide a reliable competition.
We can like it or not... but the only airline that fulfills all the European Union requirements is Ryanair. =/
@@OnBoardHD Avianca y part of a huge group called Abra. With a huge network and destinations , more than Bogota for Long Haul. Together they can apply for short and long haul slots. Wich is better for the passengers experience.
@@lecupilot Abra is GOL and Avianca, GOL is an airline that has just filed bankruptcy so let's see how they come out from that... Avianca is an airline that has a total of 14 planes for long-haul.
Avianca might be a good solution to keep prices at a decent level on the route to Bogotá, Cali, and/or Medellin. That's all.
