    If it's a religious sacrament, then that's what the church is for. So with that in mind, please explain why you charge to hold weddings there? I believe Jesus overturned the moneychangers tables in His Father's house.

    The Church has received authority by Christ himself. If you have a problem with what the Church has placed in apostolic tradition then you have a problem with Christ. The only reason people would have a problem is because it is not convenient to their sinful way of thinking.

      And The Church is NOT a denomination like all other sects but it's pre-denominational.

    Where is the scriptures that says, Marrying by the church is necessary for salvation. Then I will believe, and I will decide not to leave the religion. Yes, I am a catholic! and reading the bible made me come to a conclusion, a lot of our teaching will lead us only in one place, the undying fires of Hell.

      That’s why we’re not meant to interpret the Bible for ourselves otherwise there would be thousands of personal interpretations . Just like in the Bible when Philip had to help the Ethiopian eunuch to understand the scripture he was reading, we need the church to fully understand scripture in it’s whole context.

      Randy Fiel Pilapil it’s hard to respond to all of the TH-cam comments so I’ll try to be brief. The reason marriage is a sacrament is because it is a direct reflection of Jesus’ relationship to the Church. Holy Scripture is filled with references to the Church being the bride and God being the bridegroom. St. Paul talks very clearly about this in his letter to the Ephesians. All other sacraments are administered by the Priest and nobody questions it, I.e. confession, Holy Communion, confirmation, holy orders, last rites, and baptism (except in extreme cases). Why people think that marriage is somehow different from the other 6 sacraments, I’m not sure. I don’t blame you for not knowing because unfortunately too many priests don’t speak about this in homilies and too many knowledgeable Catholics don’t speak up. Marriage is a sacrament, which is merely the Latin way of saying an oath or covenant. Jesus wedded Himself to His Church by the blood of His sacrifice on the cross; think about the fact that in scripture, oaths were sealed by blood. So the New Covenant was instituted when Jesus was crucified and every marriage is meant to be a reflection of that new covenant in the sense that the two become one flesh just as Christ gave His flesh for His bride (the Church). Does that make more sense?

    Dear Bishop
    Will you please let me know that if the catholic marriage gets postponed due to pandemic, and due to pandemic the religious places have been kept close, in such case what can be the alternate way?
    Why not in such serious situation, the catholic marriage can't be blessed at home?
    It's just my eagerness to know.

    Can a Catholic marry a someone who has been divorced if they divorced person was not married in a Catholic Church, but rather in a courthouse? Is the courthouse marriage considered not valid according to Catholics?

    • @finas.9577

      Answer is yes, so long as the Catholic has not previously been married in the Catholic Church otherwise an annulment would need to happen first.

    I felt this video didn't properly answer the question.
    The correct name for marriage is *Holy Matrimony* and, as such, I would presume the Catholic Church believes that to marry in the church (the House of God) is to marry in the sight of God.
    It is also confirmation of the couple's devotion to Catholicism.

    Followup question...if 2 baptised catholics chose to get married in a barn on a farm by a person who has a licence to marry them ...should a brother and his family who are practicing catholics attend the ceremony and reception?

    • @BDON
      @BDON 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Santiago the only thing that happens is the Marriage will be valid in the eyes of the state but not in the eyes of the Church. Your brother or family membres can freely attend. There won’t be any negative impact on them at all. I’m doing a small 10 min service with my priest and then were going to our Farm for another ceremony

      I realize that this answer to your question is 4 years late but the short answer is no. I’ve spoken to 3 or 4 different priests who all said that this is not a sacramental marriage even if it’s a civil marriage. It wouldn’t really be much different from attending a same sex wedding which is also not a sacramental marriage even if it’s a civil marriage.

    • @automech01

      @@impasse0124wrong answer there is a big difference when it comes to a same sex marriage. As a catholic you cannot attend the wedding.

      @@automech01 there is a fundamental difference between both of course but neither one is a sacramental marriage. Priests will often say that there is no official Church teaching either way on if you can attend a heterosexual non-sacramental wedding but that you ought to use your best judgment, however some will say you should not attend.

    So what if a Catholic marries a protestant in a protestant church. A protestant who is bauptized correctly. Is that marriage valid? Would the Catholic person be allowed to continue taking communion.

    • @mystdragon8530
      @mystdragon8530 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      roger if you haven’t found out yet, you still need to have to go through the Catholic ceremony to make it a sacrament. The marriage is a valid marriage, but not a sacrament until then. As a Catholic you would have to abstain from communion.

    • @herbcruz4697
      @herbcruz4697 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without being granted a dispensation from canonical form for marriage, if a Catholic gets married outside of the Catholic Church, then that marriage is sacramentally invalid, and they must refrain from receiving Holy Communion until they get their marriage convalidated.

    Hello Father. I am a devout Catholic but my husband is evangelical Christian- and we got married here in England. I live in NYC and he lives in England. I reached out to the Catholic Church but they told me I have to do wedding of Cana and we didn’t have time. We got legally married in England. If I want to get married in a Catholic Church can I? He would be fine with it.

    • @herbcruz4697
      @herbcruz4697 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would consult the marriage tribunal of the diocese or archdiocese in which you reside. Normally, since you got married outside of the Catholic Church without being granted a dispensation (from canonical form for marriage), your current marriage would be invalid (sacramentally speaking), and you would need to have your marriage convalidated, for the Church to recognize your marriage. Until then, you will need to refrain from receiving Holy Communion. Once you get your marriage convalidated, go to Confession, and you'll be in the clear.

      They are still anointed by Christ. They are still to perform Christ’s work on earth. The rest is a personal responsibility to not sin, it is your job to pray for them.
