The young couple were stand-in's for the actors. I assumed it was for adult films. The school teacher that present the young girl singing the Christmas song was the same guy in breaking bad. Walts Old business partner at Grey Matter.
The couple you were confused about were working as stand-in’s on an adult film. A stand-in is someone who “stands in” for the actors so the production can get the lighting and camera focus just the way they want it before they call in the actual actors and do the scene. This is a job on every film set by the way, not just pornos haha.
Almost right, but not an adult film, just a regular film with sex scenes (he mentions being a stand in for Brad Pitt at one point). Porns don't have that kind of budget.
@ This channel is too wholesome for comment fights….but I’m sorry, I really disagree. Maybe he mentions standing in for Brad Pitt, but he’s talking about a different movie. The film they’re standing in for is clearly a porno.
@ I have to apologize. I just ran this by my brother and he’s on your side. It’s probably just a movie and they’re blocking a sex scene. I always thought it was just a porno. (What does that say about me? lol) But you’re probably right, and I was probably wrong. But I guess we’ll never truly know until Martin Freeman tells us himself. (But you’re probably right.)
@@benhoward2825 Kudos for being mature enough to admit that you might have been mistaken..instead of just deleting your first comment or instigating some kind of reactionary flame war, like so many do. [Since it’s hard to read tone over the internet, pls know I genuinely mean this!] Personally, I always assumed they were blocking a sex scene for a “mainstream” (not “adult”) film, due to the apparently high production value and extended pre-planning shown. Still, the movie isn’t exactly clear on that, so I totally see either interpretation! 👏
The actor playing the pop star is Bill Nighy. You saw him in the pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. But you wouldnt recognize him as he looked like an octopus. You also saw him as Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1.
Despite all the hate it got nowadays. I love that movie. So many brilliant actors and actresses. It's a beautiful movie with a variety of stories. There's also a short movie, which was made years later. It followed up what happened to the characters. Most actors came back for it. The fact that Karl is the same actor that plays Xerxes in 300 is mind blowing to me. He’s hot in both movies. Great reaction. Your laugh was contagious. Wonderful that you finally got around to this, I hope it wasn't all that painful for you to watch, James 😂. One of my fave bits of trivia for this flick is... auditions weren't going so well for Sarah's character. At some point the casting agent asked the director/writer who they were looking for to play the role and they answered "someone like a Laura Linney". The casting agent said "well why don't we just ask her?", and of course she said yes, as did pretty much anyone at the time when asked if they wanted to be in Richard Curtis's next film. I hope you try some others by him, even if it's on yer own time with the mrs (though I'm pretty sure she's seen them and are some of her faves, yeah, he's that good): Notting Hill, Four Weddings & A Funeral, Bridget Jones's' Diary, About Time...
The Prime Minister is Hugh Grant, a very popular British actor, who is in several popular rom-coms, including Bridget Jones's Diary, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Two Weeks Notice, Music and Lyrics...and many more. The guy who learned Portuguese is Colin Firtth, a highly acclaimed, award winning, British actor, who is also in Bridget Jones's Diary, as well as in Pride and Prejudice, with the beautiful Keira Knightley (the girl from Pirates of the Caribbean). While not all of the movies listed above are US movies, there are US actors in them that you will recognize and they are all great movies.
I try not to be too surprised anymore when people don't know actors, but Hugh is a pretty big one, at least to me. Nobody more charming. Really enjoyed him recently in The Undoing and Heretic.
I like this movie. It shows different love stories, not all of them successful. That's real life. And the opening and ending scenes of people hugging in the airport are very moving. Love, Actually, is all around.
❤The most Romantic Alan Rickman movie is Sense And Sensibility from 1995. His performance is so brilliant. A classic Jane Austen with outstanding performances by all.
Concur! This is the only movie I knew him for when I saw him in Harry Potter, and couldn't help but imagine his Sense & Sensibility character as Snape the whole time ha!
They cut some scenes that established that the kid was really into gymnastics and then we he runs to meet her at the airport you see him leap over the guard and more cut scenes showing him doing other leaps and flips (and I think scaling down a wall somehow - it's been years since I watched the DVD exrtas) in the airport to get to her in time. So, there was an extra message about his real skill paying off more than the whole learning music thing. It's interesting to watch the cut scenes, but I totally get why they were cut.
I always find it kind of ironic that the cheating husband is played by Alan Rickman who spend his whole life with the girl he fell in love when he was a teenager. Btw the scene where Emma Thompson confronts him about the necklace was not in the original script, Alan insisted the wife had to call him out. You do recognize Alan Rickman as Professor Snape, Emma Thompson who plays his wife is Professor Trelawney the divination professor. In real life the two were very good friends and worked often together - my tip as you love books - Sense and Sensibility from 1995 with those two. It is considered as one of the best Austen adaptations.

Please watch Bridget Jones Diary next! 2 male actors in this movie star in it, Colin Firth (the guy who learns Portuguese) and Hugh Grant (prime Minister). It's a romantic comedy, and unlike most it's actually charming and witty and funny. There are 3 movies in the series, but the 1st Bridget Jones is the best in my opinion. Which Keira Knightley (the lady in this movie you recognized from the Pirates movies) plays the lead Elizabeth Bennet in the newest version. So many connections! But I highly recommend Bridget Jones Diary and Keira Knightley's Pride and Prejudice.
They are lighting models, they provide a physical body for the stage crew to set cameras and lighting against to make sure when the movie is filmed with the actual actors they are ready to go and won't have much set-up time.
Emma Thompson's performance (the wife who is cheated on) in the scenes where she saves face for the children before the show and then how she confronts her husband in such a direct but dignified way always makes me so emotional. It's a great movie I like to rewatch. Best wishes for next year!

I'm not a fan of this movie, but the actors are wonderful! And I enjoyed your reaction :) My biggest gripe with it, though, might be that ugly gold heart necklace. It's hideous.
You should watch more British movies(pretty sure this was your first). Hugh Grant, the prime minister, is a big rom com actor. Bill Nighy is also the one who plays Davy Jones in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.
I think it’s beautiful as a piece of film (and let’s be real, they couldn’t ignore the bombshell she just found out. It had to be processed somehow). The problem is, of course, that in real life this scene would have some terrible implication, including that both are willing to hide a massive secret from Peter and that there might be some mutual attraction that might lead to an affair. 🤷♀️It’s a complicated situation that in real life would likely lead to the breakdown of some or all relationships. They chose poetry over reality and I’m not mad about it.
I think the two characters were doing nude and sex scenes as stand-ins for the actual actors for movie scenes. My friend’s a stuntwoman, but has done a few stand-ins for nude scenes for actors as well.
That naked couple are probably stand-ins (and maybe body doubles) for sex scenes in actual normal movies. The main actors doesn't want to stand there (or do those fake sex movements) for a long time while the light, sound and camera crews (and maybe other departments) make all those various final measurements and adjustments before the filming starts. Frankly there's also not any reason for the main actors to spend energy while the camera isn't recording yet. When the adjustments are done, the stand-ins get out, the main actors come in and record the scene without too much waiting which also helps them concentrate on their acting, rather than any other distractions. Sometimes, the same stand-ins (or possibly other people) also acts on camera for some shots that doesn't require showing their faces, possibly because the main actors aren't comfortable for some of the nudity in the scene or maybe they have a scar, a tattoo or something in their specific part of the body. In that case, those people are called body doubles.
I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. amazing actors, but the stories were too weird and rushed. john & just judy (the stand-ins) and billy mack & joe are the only stories that I would like to know what happend 10 years later😂
I hope you got to watch the whole film yourself without interruptions as many funny bits cut out (understand why for review) but just saying for your benefit.
My mom forced me to watch this over Christmas. She was bawling her eyes out and I was just sitting there annoyed at every character, especially the wife and the husband’s friend. Looking forward to watching your reaction though
My AARP aged parents and I accidentally watched this together, thinking it was just a nice, romantic comedy. It was extremely awkward, especially considering that my dad is a deacon in their church. It was only made worse by the fact that none of us even liked it.

@@Seldarius Except that he says “Enough… enough now.” I believe he just had to get that off his chest and can let it be now.
Hey.. we bookworms must remain strong!
Girls in Wisconsin...
I think the two characters were doing nude and sex scenes as stand-ins for the actual actors for movie scenes. My friend’s a stuntwoman, but has done a few stand-ins for nude scenes for actors as well.
Big bang took the card thing from this
I think you would love Bridget Jones's Diary!
Thank you for doing this movie! I love this movie!
Glad you enjoyed!
This is crazy
That is Hollywood @@AwesomeUSMovies
I like we're venturing into awesome movies not necessarily US
Movie recommendation (Charlie Bartlett 2007).
Ozark is awesome you should go back and react to it.
Definitely not a 'Hallmark' Christmas movie!
19:58 Rowan Atkinson is the _only_ person you don't recognise? 🤦♂

Relationships are ruined by emotional cheating.
You saying “I love you” before bed = ❤ (not every husband does …)
I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. amazing actors, but the stories were too weird and rushed. john & just judy (the stand-ins) and billy mack & joe are the only stories that I would like to know what happend 10 years later😂
7:47 No, she was rubbish.
Yeah that thing with the best friend and the wife was so toxic and creepy. The whole film annoyed me too, but Bill Nighy was funny sometimes.
My AARP aged parents and I accidentally watched this together, thinking it was just a nice, romantic comedy. It was extremely awkward, especially considering that my dad is a deacon in their church. It was only made worse by the fact that none of us even liked it.
That's funny
I'm so sorry for whatever you're all afflicted with, it sounds like none of you have the ability to turn a television off, or change a channel 😢
Thought a movie reactor would know these actors and, more importantly, their names
It’s ignorance I didn’t expect
"Ignorance"? Lol, touch grass dude.
Ummm...
How is this a US movie?
We'll let it slide 😂
just go with it
@@AwesomeUSMovies I'm with you, James, we've got the American President, Laura Linney plays an American, and Colin goes to Wisconsin AND HE'S GOT A BIIIIG KNOOOOOOOOB. 😂😂
