For the people who are wondering why shane lost control of the table in the opening rack, there is a rule which is used in some tournaments and its called an official break which is that 3 balls have to be pocketed or pass the line where u break from (in total) and if not then its called an illegal break and ur opponent has the control of the table. For example, the first rack shane pocketes the one ball and one ball only crossed the line so thats 2 balls only. Thats why it was an "illegal break" and shane lost control of the table.

@@ChrisG0 well he cant push its just that hee either takes the shot or give it back to shane. Its similar to making a ball in a wrong pocket in 10 ball then the opponent has the choice to shoot or give it back.

Watching these two great champions play I feel like I'm observing two of the best best players playing today. This is the limit as to how good pocket billiards can be played and my best days are behind me now but i'm still trying to achieve something close to this at least before it's over. Such a treat.
Also check out 40:46 where SVB shoots the 2 ball off the rail with perfect reverse spin to go in between the 8 and 9 for perfect shape on the 3. If it were possible for a player to win a tournament just because of how smooth they played SVB would never lose another tournament.

The Mosconi referees ref for Snooker. Standards are much, much, much higher. Plus Snooker referees actually have an extremely major role vs. billiards referees...which most rarely cleans the cue ball, only called to watch for a possible foul, barely racks (player racks, loser racks....) keep points? (Again, player responsibilities) the list kind of just goes on....and on.......I’m not downtalking American pool in the slightest. Just comparing referee responsibilities.

Chris struggles with the breakshot. He has some of the best fundamentals and creativity in the game. You could even say he's one of the most skilled pool players alive right now. But as you all know the breakshot is the most important to win tournaments, that's why Shane has the advantage EVERYONE. And to me I feel Shane took it up a notch this year, he is just too solid of a player now. Such a beast.

Why is this alternate 9-ball? I just watched one match between Johann Chua and SVB and another between Manny Perez and SVB also. Johann was ahead 2 to 0 and Manny was behind Shane 0 to 9. Shane both times went on the hill 10 to 2 for Johann and 10 to 1 for Manny. Because it was winner break 9-ball Shane was able to run 10 racks both times. If it had been alternate break, both Johann and Manny would have no chance, none, not anyway to come back and win. Even if Johann was behind 6 to 2 or Manny was behind 6 to 1 they would still have zero chance to win with alternate breaking. But with winner break, at those scores, they still could win if enough racks like Shane were ran. Winner break is traditional 9-ball played for centuries and the most fairest way to play the game. Alternate break is something new made by small thinkers and is the least fairest game to play.

To be honest, I don’t understand why at such a professional level the pros still play 9-Ball with this break setup. You just see how they are bored. They played 4-5 saveties the whole match. It’s just too easy. And that’s why the game doesn’t going forward. They should play Rotation or at least the break should be so difficult, that it’s hard to tell which balls are going where...or the 9-Ball should be pocketed the cross corner from the 8. No combinations allowed. Or at least one ball should be pocketed via a bank shot. If they do something like these, you will much more intense and importantly interesting matches, where you need just a little bit more skills and more thinking other then potting 6 Ball opened on the table.

    • @RandomGaming-qx7he
      @RandomGaming-qx7he 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well first of all its a 9-ball championship. Dont be fooled by thinking that this is easy, its 9 ball on the spot alternate break official break rule applied and i assume its a 9 foot table. Its just that you are watching the "TOP" players of the game, so ofcourse they will make it look easy.

Random Gaming hate to burst your bubble, but it could be played on a 12 foot table, still wouldn't change the fact, of all the cue sports, 9 ball is the easiest of the lot

    • @find127

I agree man. I wish it was different, but the reason they play 9 ball so often is the fact that the rules are almost universal. Games like 8 ball have many different rules throughout the world and leads to a lot of conflicting opinions about how it should be played.

Melling, think long, think wrong. Something to say about shouting quick like O'Sullivan and Strictland.

I got disappointed @ 8:35, when Mr Melling, instead of trying to go for the next (#2) ball, just pushed the que ball away, hoping to make it almost inaccessible for the opponent! Clever, but NOT FAIR PLAY!
I don't care even if he wins this game; for me he is already defeated! Shame shame...

It's at 8:22. The angle is touch to judge whether it was a push or he just followed through..

That was 100% a push out. It is only allowed right after the break.

      Its called a "push out".
The reciever of a push out has two options, take the shot, or give it back to the opponent, who has to take it.
The push out can only be used as the first shot after each break.
