Prime Minister Marape announces appointment of five new ministers
Prime Minister Hon. James Marape today announced the appointment of five new ministers following recent political developments that saw some ministers defect to the Opposition.
The announcement was made at Government House, where the five ministers were sworn in by Governor-General H.E Sir Bob Dadae. The newly appointed ministers are:
1. Hon. Kobby Bomareo (Tewai-Siassi MP): Reappointed as Housing Minister.
2. Hon. Belden Namah (Vanimo-Green MP): Appointed as Culture and Tourism Minister, replacing Isi Henry Leonard.
3. Hon. Kinoka Feo (Unggai-Bena MP): Appointed as Higher Education Minister, replacing Don Polye.
4. Hon. Thomas Opa (Kerema MP): Appointed as Energy Minister, replacing Robert Naguri.
5. Hon. Miki Kaeok (Wapenamenda MP): Appointed as Finance Minister, replacing Rainbo Paita.
Prime Minister Marape also announced additional responsibilities for some ministers. Minister Namah will oversee tourism policing and border security, while Minister Opa will take charge of Petroleum after Esa’ala MP Hon. Jimmy Maladina stepped down from the position.
Prime Minister Marape stated that he will serve as Acting Mining Minister until the case of former minister Muguwa Dilu is resolved. He also noted that the number of ministers now stands at 37, with two more positions yet to be filled.

    Hon Namah brings experience and strong principles for good governance. Shine Sir in your new role. PM bringing colour in his cabinet. A govt maybe disliked but here PM is building stability. We need stability in politics to address nations problems not destructive political scams. Government need to address economy and the workers. Take 5 yrs and go back to people for another mandate. Leaders over yrs never had guts to desolve parliament and go back to people. Leaders instead had used the constitution to crab power that has no guarantee of people's mandate. That's why they are easily accused of power grabbers. Let the VONC come but weigh pros and cons for the sake of our country. Keep our democracy vibrant!
