Disappointing to hear a respected BBC commentator advocating taking the ball to the corner flag in the last minute!
Pouring another pint in the same glass as the last…. Classic!
"Whatever it was, it's been disallowed" 🤣
I looked after Keith Walwyn after he had his ICD. Lovely man. rIP
This game is Southampton vs Liverpool in club world cup
R.I.P.
How much would Keith Walwyn be worth in today's hugely inflated prices? Surely one of the greatest ever buys in the Football League costing £4,000 from Chesterfield Keith then went on to score a remarkable amount of goals for City over many season's and caused many defences including world class International's huge problems with his sheer strength and ability in the air and to win many challenges....some that controversially went against Keith including the 5th Round FA Cup replay against European Champions Liverpool at Anfield when in the second half and the sides level at 1-1 a rare York attack saw a ball played over the top to Keith Walwyn who was challenged by 2 Red's defender's and legendary Liverpool keeper Bruce Grobbelaar Keith won the ball as 'Brucie' raced out and the pair collided as the big City forward toe poked the ball into an empty net...the match referee was clearly happy that the goal was legitimate but his attention was taken by the linesman who for whatever reason had his flag up in the belief that Keith had fouled the Liverpool keeper....watch this clip as year's later the legendary Liverpool defence once and for say this goal was legitimate and should have stood... th-cam.com/video/brcMA-_g6wk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bj1sYkVxEYD6gZ1T
Oh wow! A 1980's T20! And what's more, a decent score.
Brian was such an interesting, watchable actor in everything he did!

I can't get the name of that tune the band played someone tell me please 👍
Memory
@danielbrown2497 I thought it was that then said to myself it wasn't thank you for your help muck appreciated 👍
Bugger off, he's got a bird upstairs!
I really can't believe this was 38 Year's ago it seems like yesterday I along with my brother my dad and a few mates were sat in the 'Pop' stand as we had done the previous year when City beat Arsenal then amazingly drew Liverpool at home again in the FA Cup 5th Rnd.
Alan Hay got booked......why didn't Dalglish for the same incident??
The essence of the FA cup here Would not happen these days.
I used to watch this with my great grandmother. She was born in 1906 and loved to watch this show right until she passed away in 1998. It used to be in the Saturday evening slot at Svt 2 back home in Sweden during the 1980's. Back then, the show reminded us a bit of our own village and the small farms surrounding it. The show was'nt as violent back then, compared to these days.
Classic
Why did they shut down the turnstiles with 30 minutes to go when the ground was not full and thousands were locked out?
We cannot reopen the mines...but we can try and recreate the spirit of those villages and the camarderie...
Only then are we undefeated...
The fa cup is a sad shadow of games like these & no replays either. Let's exclude the Premier League & the rest can play how it was.
Back in the good ol days of the Hard Leeds fans, If there wasnt any away fans to beat on? The cops were a good replacement!
I was there mate (qpr) you chased us everywhere that day... respect from qpr👍
Eye . I'll not work down pit .
I was there straight behind the goal which Brendan Ormsby scored in. I can't believe it was 37 years ago it only seems like yesterday ❤
Same here mate. I always regarded this season as the start of our revival. FA cup semis and play off final. Just 5 seasons later we would be Champions of England! Staggering when you think about it.
I was in the south stand , we reached the semis & got beat by Cov . I went to every round , Telford away at the Hawthorns was up first then Wigan away . What a day .
My 21st birthday absolute brilliant game.Remember being in kop going barmy.Happy days.
It was a great game I also remember there was a lot of trouble at the game as well
(Leeds fan). I couldn't get in anywhere else and ended up in the away end, keeping quiet when the goals went in. I was a tad nervous.
Very interesting
It was brill in the kop start at one end and see where you end up at final whistle
Back then there was Nothing like scenes in the kop when we scored a goal. Pandemonium. I was in the lowfields for many seasons and it was nuts in there but the kop was something else.
End pen
@@markharrison8216 next to away corner you mean?
@@markharrison8216 Also known as the mental pen.
I was one month old here
Oh my
My wife and I were at this game. She went into labour about 20 minutes before the final whistle. We waited until the final whistle and went straight to maternity where my son was born.
HOW was Martin Butler's goal " offside" he was clearly ON SIDE 🫣🙄
Edited in Bradford? We didn't get the Gills lineup and our goal was only shown as a reply! I was at this match.. Obviously the whole ground if different now but I'm surprised at just how different.
Edited? These are videos I recorded with a vhs at the time with limited tape space as a 15 year old. I think it's fair to say I was unaware of what was coming in the future.
Our most expensive player here was Keith Walwyn who cost the princely sum of £ 4,000 surely right up there as one of the greatest ever 'bargain buys' an all time legend with the City faithful Keith always gave 100% no matter what the match or score much loved and missed so much more. 🙏♥️
Arsenal's team cost £4m, the past is a different country!
Bart, late seventies ad se.
Mid eighties
York outclassed Liverpool here.

Old Emmerdale Farm brings back so many happy memories of my Nan. Sat beside her feet watching this a kid, and then going in car with dad to bring her home. Miss her…
York put shit loads of hay down on the pitch to try and combat the frost... it worked and thank god. I remember this game crystal clear. Who could forget it!. I also recoded it from MOTD and had a copy on V2000 (i.e. not VHS or beta!) but my player broke, so thanks a million for posting this, great memories
The real tragedy of this video is seen in the commenters, who are sharply polarized between those who (rightly) decry the thuggery of the unions and those who (just as rightly) condemn the brutality of the police (and of course, the media, who always get it wrong). Instead of universal agreement that *_both_* sides are wrong, people are split into opposing camps, each insisting that their "side" is absolutely right. The result is that the fundamental principle - namely, that coercion in all its forms is absolutely wrong - is utterly lost in the unending controversy. The country is at war with itself, and it's happening everywhere, in every nation. And the root of it all is the universal belief that that the political state is the answer to every problem. Mark Knopfler was spot on when he wrote the song _Iron Hand_ memorializing the Battle of Orgreave, whose final line is, _"We haven't changed since ancient times."_
All the good ones come from Yorkshire.....
DON'T YOU KNOW YOUR CLUB COLOURS LAD !
At least Closey embraced his baldness - unlike the Chairman. Talk about shite combovers !!
Boycs didn’t have an uncertain future he went on and made a fortune talking on the game and still does writing about it. Sir Geoffrey Boycott an absolute legend. ❤️
Only remembers ... Thanks for who uploaded this ..
Extremely poignant to see and hear players/commentators sadly no longer with us. Players like Bairstow, Capel and Carrick and commentators Richie Benaud, Ray Illingworth and Ted Dexter.
Was such a fun little circuit
