This video seriously needs a comment. Love the video, love the birthday celebration - perfect way to go, and love the new dinghy. Q: Does the black dinghy get hotter in sunny weather than the gray? Or does the textured cover make a difference?
@@barbarakauppi9915 aww too kind thank you! No it’s actually okay! It has wet suit material as a cover on the tubes so it stays nice and cool!
Carpet looks great. Can you get the edges “wipped” and that would stop if fraying in the future
Great video - keep it up !
Ed, you can fly your drone in Alderney, just call air traffic and they will give you permission. We're in Alderney right now and did just that.
A really interesting video, Ed! Great cinematography too! I hope your friends enjoyed their voyage. Look forward to watching future trips.
Well done 👏 Out of interest, as a non sailor, what did the yellow flag you raised signify? X
Thanks! its a 'Q' flag we have to fly 12 miles offshore until we are signed into Alderney for Customs. Differnt ports / countries have different requirements xx
Great job, properly exhausting but worth it 👌⛵️
I did sleep like a baby yesterday!
As both a mountain climber and blue water sailor one of the first things I learned was when to retreat.
As a road sweeper and toilet cleaner so did I.
Sailing whilst wearing rings on one's fingers is asking for trouble!
Sign of a great skipper, crew and boat safety comes first, good shout.
Thank you!
Good call. Everyone is safe. Things can escalate real quick in saliing.
It only takes a gust and a big wave!
Sensible call to retire and head back....3.28 we made the same choice 😮
That is good going !!
Yup, stay in port and ramp up some experience.
I mean...I have 47,000nm under my belt! but who's counting ;)
@@SailingOptimist Wow, less than we do in a year you fkn nob. Look forward to seeing your epirb activate.
With those nasty tides, and huge winds, nobody needs to break gear and bodies unnecessarily
for sure !
What a sensible guy, comes over very well.
Appreciate it :)
We sail for FUN. if the fun stops, stop. Good call.
it was fun! Just not for green crew!
Simply not worth the risk, most especially with one on board who's never sailed before, as you rightly say you'd have put them off for life! In those conditions you need everyone to have experience, one bad error, mishap or uncertainty in those seas could spell serious danger to everyone. Good decision to abandon (like so many others did).
Exactly! I wouldn't want him to be in any danger
I think on a dog it’s a anal gland lol close👍👍
hahaha
Great stuff your a great singer 👍👍
far too kind!
I really enjoyed this video. There is not much unsponsored feedback re the Clipper. My husband and I considered circumnavigating in 2025/26 and completed the interviews, but reluctantly ended up deciding against it. Knowing what you know now, would you do it again? Gosh, Julie's accident looked serious! Glad she was okay. Thanks for the fun video. Greetings from sunny South Africa. 🇿🇦
hey from the UK! I will be making some more videos soon! Would I do it again now...no, but I would if I had no idea what I was about to endeavour on. I think now since the deaths, there is so much red tape it's not as fun! but if you can, and have the means to do at least 1 leg to get a Taste then I would recommend for sure ! X
Hi there, I like your channel. Watching from the Netherlands and in the early stages of buying a small offshore boat myself. Enjoy the boat life!
Hey welcome and thank you! yessss, best decision you will ever make !!
You are doing a good job. The videos are good. Watching from Orlando, Florida.
ah so glad you are liking it!! Welcome :)
Loving the uploads Ed!
Thank you!
Can't wait to see your home for real...exciting! Xx
xx
you're 28 ?? look a lot younger
nicest comment ever ;) !!
Don't rewire the bow thruster if it is working backwards. Turn the switch upside down .
Unfortunately its moulded into the helm!
Have you tried eating at a place in Cowes called 'Call it what you want?' Highly recommend. No menu, get what you are given but great food, he did mexican food when we went last year. In an old butchers shop in the high street.
Hi Ed, Just found this channel. I am just about to do the same thing (got the boat alraedy and am aiming to set off on my RTW adventure next June) Love the channel and your energy! I look forward to following your adventures - Fair winds
Hey welcome! Exciting times! You’re gonna love it! Keep me in the loop with your adventure 🥰 roll on next June 🫶🏻
Just brill! ⚓️🐬🌿🌸 Thanks for this TH-cam channel ✌️🌼⚓️
Aw thank you 🥰
Great video!
Thank you! x
ooops rounding up haha great video. go that way..
it was planned for the footage... ;)
Best one yet! Loved seeing your friend Julie and putting a face to the name and hearing how your smile and positive attitude boosted the crews spirits in the middle of the night! I am one proud mumma! ❤
Aw Love you xx
Hi Ed, the Westerly is a much better choice for what you have planned than the "Duffer". Good luck with your plans I'll be following along...
Thank you! completely agree !
Hi Ed, well done for jumping aboard, it makes so much sense where you live instead of paying mad rents. Just an idea for a future video, I've seen you pick up a mooring ball and tie a couple of knots, even the not knot knot. Maybe you could drill down into the - how exactly I did that - side of things? I know I would love to know what you did with that anchor knot (not). It's just an idea but keep on keeping on with what your doing. So far, I'm hooked.
Hey! Absolutely, thank you for the feedback! I will lean into this in the future videos and try and share some of my solo sail tips! :)
Nice
Amazing 🎉
Hiya Ed.. Thanks for brightening the morning...Optimist is looking fab. What is life without a leak! Keep safe, Mark.
Thanks!! Haha definitely, always challenging!
Great views of the Solent!
It's always changing !
Where was mooring ball?
Perfect sail trim.. if I so say so myself haha
Nice work!
Thanks!
Great episode as ever. What is the name of the battery charger that you have?
I will dig it out and check for you!
Hi - absolutely loved the video ❤ So relaxing and stress free, exactly what I would love to be doing. You like the simple things and demonstrate this so well. Editing is great too! So unpretentious like so many sailing TH-camrs are - breath of fresh air. Good luck will be following ❤
thanks so much! Im glad thats how it comes across because thats me ! Come out on the water!
Sounds like your pipes are furred up Ed. Scale comes loose and blocks the pipe.
Yep...£450 later and it's done!
You're a breath of fresh air, Ed 16:14 loved your fun, sailing prowess, and know how to enjoy a good curry and cocktail ! Keep safe and warm!Mark
