I have a 2019 bumper pull. Thedford toilet. Smells like septic around and behind commode. I wonder if this could be the same situation as dometic 300. Ive searched but seen no talk about this problem in thedfords tho

I didn't see the part where you curse and wipe the sweat off your forehead. I'm going to use silicone grease to get it in and even then I know it won't be easy.

I am thinking about using Eterna bond tape on my RV. I question using the tape around Vents and such. It could be difficult to change out fans, Vent caps and such. If you need to replace one, it might be impossible to remove the tape without damaging your roof.

Check your oils smoke point to know what temp to set your oven. You actually want smoke. Be ready for there to be smoke. Its what you want

did the same fix and got a couple more years. however, it came back. the problem is the inner bowl moves down compared to the outer bowl when you sit on it. that movement breaks the seal, even of one applied like in the video. I am not buying a 320 to see if it is better.

I'd been sold on the Dometic 310, but now I'm having doubts. I don't know if I want to deal with a company that doesn't value their customers and stand behind their products. The company could've put a shine on their reputation and fostered a strong and loyal base for a generation had they acted right. People forgive mistakes when they're handled honorably. But damn, we remember forever when they're not.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a 2008 Four Winds Chateau Sport that I have renovated. Went camping last week and noticed a foul odor in the lavatory and eventually it became a stench! There are many TH-cam videos on how to fix the problem and yours is, by far, the best one. I cleaned up the Dometic 300 yesterday, I was dreading the process, although it wasn't too bad. I did have to stop in the middle of things a run to Home Depot to get a long flat head screwdriver, a shorter just won't work. I hope the fix lasts, otherwise, I will get the Thetford commode! 🚽🤮

Does anyone know if it makes any difference if a soft start has previously been installed? Is the upgrade in this video compatible with an aftermarket soft start?

I just wanna say. Thank you. We have flushed and cleaned the black tank saw nothing but clean water and it was rank in the toilet. Finally thought I'd check and see if anyone else had this problem and I was surprised to see the number of complaints. We were way out of warranty so the only fix was yours. And I can say it was easy. Not pleasant by any stretch (stench) or means. It is fixed and I will report back how this performs. Thank you Ricardo! Much obliged.

Years later, what would you have done different?

At 3:02, you say “ now that you have it out”… What does that mean? Was it heating in the oven before you took it “out”? You had oven mitts on while taking it out so I assume it was hot. The oven display was 200. Where does that come into play?

I have a much better, more complex, storage area lock system that came with my trailer. Sorry but guide doesn't work for me. Like the locks.

Great video! I'm looking to replace the locks on my Coachman Cross Trail with Azdel walls. The problem is that the storage doors are 2 inch thick and I can't find a 2 inch long replacement lock. Would you happen to have a resource for that? I looked up and down the Internet, Amazon, ILH and Latch It but no one offers a 2 inch long storage lock. Thanks.

In a shower, the door to the shower NEEDS to be smaller in height then the actual opening so there is room for the steam from having a shower to escape. The door should never be the same full size as the opening to the shower. And yes you do have I noticed in this situation a fan in the shower but, what if it's too cold/blizzard out or just down pouring with rain, you probably don't want the fan door opened as weather permitting, what do you do then? When you close off all access to the shower while you're in a hot shower with steam not having a place to escape quickly you're definitely going to have a terrible time trying to breath! In this instance a good sized gap of 3" or more from the ceiling is what you would need for steam to be released.

Just saw your video. We have a 2020 Rockwood Minilite and we are having the same issue that is smells. Everytime we flush the toilet and come back, there is a yellow liquid in the toilet, just couldn;t figure it out. We have tried everything and now after seeing this video i think we found the problem. I am going to call Dometic and hopefully they will send me a new toilet, thanks for the great video.

I did the exact same repair and did not hold back on silicone. Two 4 day trips and it leaks again. I have my third 300 and will fill the entire void between the bowls with an epoxy or similar substance. My goal is to occupy the space so urine can’t.
