Hi @jmckenna2k10! Everything is accessed through the network. When the Pis are going to boot they retrieve the necessary files from the BOOT shares. When it needs to read/write anything from the filesystem, it seems like an SD Card to the Pi but it resides in the NAS.

@@techbytetips I just gave this a go and argued unsuccesfully with it for several hours, though I was attempting to run the RPi-PXE server on a ProxMox VM. Might need to downgrade my version of debian that I used for the VM because all the net-tools like arp and resolv.d and such don't exist anymore in modern debian Any chance you have some tips for running this setup on current distros and not using another pi? Also, the newer pi bootloaders do have a network boot option. Is that the same function as the SD card you're using near the end of this tutorial for kicking the Pi into PXE mode?

@@techbytetips It keeps failing at imaging my existing Pi that I want to run with PXE. Copies all the files to a tmp folder and then fails to create the image boot and filesystem directories on /PXE/images/boot and /PXE/images/filesystem. I've got plenty of room in the VM to host the Pi images, so there's no need for me to bother with the NAS step. It seems silly to create and use a NAS share when the RPi-PXE script seems to be perfectly fine with using the PXE server's native filesystem. Don't wanna add needless complexity by bouncing all the requests all over my LAN when it can all happen on one VM

@@techbytetips now that I think of it, can I just pull the SSD out of my 4B USB port, plug it into my server, and manually create the image/boot and filesystem/boot?

Hi @. Yes, I gave the option to use a NAS folder or to just host is directly in the same machine. You can just plug a drive into the machine and then run it using the files locally in the PXE server.

I would suggest that you calmly repeat the whole process. This process is accurate and should work in a Synology NAS without issues.

@techbytetips I already did it twice😭 I dont think the problem comes from MariaDB... the config.yml file is created by the container ?

@@nicolaschassaing7415 I don't remember putting the config.yml myself. They give you a sample here: github.com/rommapp/romm/blob/release/examples/config.example.yml Check your logs. It is hard to know what is going wrong in your case. You have to check that the DB exists and that ROMM has proper access to it. Then check the logs of ROMM. 16:30, also are you giving it enough time to do all the DB migrations and setup?

@@techbytetips Thanks for your help ! when i comment the " user: '1026:100' ", everything works but i can't download the roms... i tried to add tow lines (PUID=1026 and PGID=100) in the environment, but i can't download either. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

@@nicolaschassaing7415 That's weird. I got the issue when using the PUID/PGID instead of the user definition. Make sure that the user has permissions to the folders in the Synology system.

Make sure that you have the proper mapping in the Lidarr application and that what you are mapping in both containers is mounted like you specify it. Example: QBitTorrent: /downloads/completed/lidarr Lidarr: /downloads/completed/lidarr Means that Lidarr expects QBitTorrent to store the files in the same folder as Lidarr. If they are not, you have to fix that.

@@techbytetips this is the message that I am getting: You are using docker; download client SABnzbd places downloads in /downloads/lidarr but this directory does not appear to exist inside the container. Review your remote path mappings and container volume settings. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

@@danhuntley5903 That sounds like your mappings are not correct. That is in the Downloaders section in Lidarr.

Hi @@srikanthvarma4180! I am not sure that I know what FDM is. Most torrent clients have an option to limit seeding in their configurations.

You cannot make changes to the YAML while the project is running. You have to go into actions and STOP or CLEAR the project first. Then you will be able to make changes to the YAML.

You need to put the ENVIRONMENT variable. Make sure that you have it. The container will then pull the script from their repository and saves it in the right place.

@@techbytetips got it working. I had the environment variable but was not using the image from linuxserver. Changed the image and was able to connect to the script. Thanks for the reply!

Hi @cariboudjan3576! For SABnzbD, make sure to configure your servers using SSL. You don't need a VPN for it.

Just type the code that I showed and change the External port (NAS) to whatever you want to expose it through.

If that's the case, don't add the Gluetun container to this project. Just modify the existing Gluetun to match the things that are necessary for this one.

@@Taid87 If you plan to use the DB as a container, yes. You need a custom network to assign a private IP to that container.

@@Taid87 That is what I did in this video. If you are not going to create the DB as a container, you don't need to specify the host or IP and you don't need the network.

I plan to do a video release soon that will cover how to deploy everything in one go. It will be there.

That sounds like an interesting idea. I'd have to see how I can set a second lab instance to do that. I'll put it in the queue to see how I can showcase this in the future.

@@techbytetips Welcome. I think the only thing I'd do different would be to use a Pocketbook eReader. They support 23 + formats (to include mobi, epub, etc.) and they also use Linux, and not android, as an OS. Pocketbook ereaders are not locked and you can easily drag and drop ebooks onto them. And an account is optional, not required.

First of all, identify the user that you are running as as I did in this video: th-cam.com/video/7MLrcAvigL8/w-d-xo.html That will give you the PUID/PGID of the user that you sign in to your NAS as. Then, you need to make sure that the user that you plan to use has appropriate permissions in the Synology interface for that shared folder. When you assign the PUID/PGID to the container, it will run as that user and will have permissions to read/write.

@@techbytetips wow, thanks for your quick reply, i watched the mentioned video. but i already had the correct user, but while checking i recognized the user USERMAP_UID= USERMAP_GID= where a comment behind "#" in the *.env file; i changed that and now it works with the separat shared folder. Thanks!

Hi @_BRawlR_! I'm glad that you got it fixed. Yes, you have to make sure that your PUID/PGID match your specific user. The 1026/100 tends to be the first user that you create (admin).

Mmmm check that the VPN is working properly in the logs. Sometimes you have to restart this container because the VPN stops working for some reason. Additionally, check that the torrents have seeders. Stalled usually means that it can't connect to seeders.

@@techbytetips First and foremost, thank you for monitoring and replying to comments. I was sort of following two different guides and I think I got things mixed up. I was able to resolve the issue by changing the Tag of the downloads in qBittorrent. I had folders setup for "tv", "movies", and "music", but the categories were set to "sonarr", "radarr", and "lidarr". Once I updated things to the correct tags, everything has been working smoothly. You must be doing something wrong. I have followed this same process many times and people have also reported success in here.

Buffering should not be related to subtitles. That's just simple text that gets overlaid over the movie. Transcoding could have been the issue.

Hi! My Lab's IP is 10.0.0.73 but my actual NAS is 10.0.0.21. That's why you saw 10.0.0.21 in the Router. You have to specify the IP of the NAS in the router. You expose Pi-Hole through that IP on port 53 (DNS). Your router has to point to the NAS IP on port 53 as the default DNS server.

Raspberry Pi devices don't do real PXE booting. This doesn't work as it is for other systems.

This video is specifically for people that don't have access to another working Mac though.

In Windows, you can open command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" the network address is usually the same network as your default gateway (router) something like 192.168.1.0 or 10.0.0.0. For example, if your gateway is: 192.168.100.1, then usually your network is 192.168.100.0 / 24 The slash is the network CIDR; meaning, how many IPs are in your network. For consumer routers, it is usually /24.

Hi @AlexKeshet, sorry. MySQL workbench is a tool to connect to a MySQL database. It was NOT the point of the video. That's why I didn't go into the details on it. It was just referenced to validate that the database was working and how to properly configure it. MySQL Workbench is a free tool from Oracle that you can download. Just Google its name and the download link will show up. Nothing extraordinary about it.
