      Glad to help. It takes me time to get to some videos because the queue of requests is quite large but I try my best.

    Amazing video. Not only did you understand the folder structure which most people struggle with, but you were clear and concise with instructions.
    One critiquie though, not sure why you're saying the mariadb image that comes with romm doesnt work? It works fine on synology and if you want access to the system that badly via a sql explorer then just add ports 3306:3306 to the compose under mariadb.
    But my only critique, rest is amazing. Huge props.

      @@danblu3 hi! Thanks for the feedback.
      The issue with MariaDB was on getting a terminal to allow a user to connect from another IP. It doesn’t work well in DSM 7.2. That’s why I opted for using Package Manager’s MariaDB.

      I'm so happy looking at someone that truly knows and understands what he is doing! Glad you found and enjoy RomM and thank you for making this awesome and easy to follow guide, even with the database workaround.
      Would you mind if we add this video to the video guides section we have in the discord?

    I have yet another request for you! What do you think about running GenAI locally on Synology? Mb you can prepare a vid how to install it and use different models?

      Great suggestion! I do not have a Graphics card to use for this though. I might consider this when I have some disposable money to throw at buying a decent card for it.

    unfortunately this setup is not as easy as your previous tutorials....I checked your previous mariadb installation. But how do you launch the mysql / mariadb database? I dont see the application launch anywhere...hmmm making progress.....it seems mysql workbench is an external application not on the NAS

      Hi @ricosuave4849! When you install the MariaDB as a package, it will run automatically when your NAS is up. You can always to go the Package Manager and check that it says Running.
      MySQL Workbench is a free application developed by Oracle to access and manage database from your computer. You have to download it and install it in your machine.
      It allows you to connect to the MariaDB running inside the NAS. Once connected, you can manage it through the interface.
      That's what I do in the video.

      @@techbytetips installation is done now. I only have the problem that I can seem to either upload games (get an error saying Platform not found) and also scanning is not working.....I contacted the devs on their discord. They think (based on my logs) it has to do with "inotify watch limit reached: errors) Even their suggested fixes dont work on current DSM / Synology models....Any suggestions?

      first issue was permissions, which I solved by connecting via SSH and giving user 1026 rights to the specific docker and library folder...

      @techbytetips  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ricosuave4849 I didn't try to upload a rom directly in the app. Maybe you need to create the folder first in the games directory and then it will be able to recognize the platform and handle it.

      @@techbytetips already created it, unfortunately, I get errors when scanning and errors when manually uploading. So I am kinda stuck now...

    Great video, but it doesn't work for me. I don't know where I went wrong, but the container log is not at all the same as yours. Could I send it to you?

    • @techbytetips
      @techbytetips  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would suggest that you calmly repeat the whole process. This process is accurate and should work in a Synology NAS without issues.

      @nicolaschassaing7415 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @techbytetips I already did it twice😭 I dont think the problem comes from MariaDB... the config.yml file is created by the container ?

    • @techbytetips
      @techbytetips  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@nicolaschassaing7415 I don't remember putting the config.yml myself. They give you a sample here:
      github.com/rommapp/romm/blob/release/examples/config.example.yml
      Check your logs. It is hard to know what is going wrong in your case.
      You have to check that the DB exists and that ROMM has proper access to it. Then check the logs of ROMM.
      16:30, also are you giving it enough time to do all the DB migrations and setup?

      @@techbytetips Thanks for your help ! when i comment the " user: '1026:100' ", everything works but i can't download the roms... i tried to add tow lines (PUID=1026 and PGID=100) in the environment, but i can't download either. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

      @@nicolaschassaing7415 That's weird. I got the issue when using the PUID/PGID instead of the user definition.
      Make sure that the user has permissions to the folders in the Synology system.

    👍 This tutorial was exactly what I needed! Finally understanding the "why" behind each step instead of blindly copy-pasting commands.
    Quick question though or request - has anyone successfully set up WGER (Workout Manager) on a Synology NAS with working media/video uploads? Could really use a detailed guide for that specific setup.
    Thanks for making such helpful content!
