Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 มี.ค. 2020
The channel of the Hornby Island Arts Council.
The Hornby Island Arts Council was established in December 1998 and is in a period of profound transition. Having moved between insecure and inadequate spaces for two decades, we stand prepared to establish an Arts Centre.
Hornby has an outsized reputation in the arts and may have the highest per-capita density of artists in all of Canada.
Hornby Arts’ goal, like most charitable non-profits, is to improve quality of life. Our constitution mandates that this is accomplished by: increasing and broadening opportunities to appreciate, enjoy and participate in artistic and cultural activities through events and workshops, improving the standards of artistic expression in our community, and establishing an Arts Centre where diverse forms of creative expression can be supported.

Art Island S2E1: Susan Crowe - Potter
Season 2 of ART ISLAND opens with legendary Susan Crowe in her studio, Cannon Road Pottery. Filmmaker Zsofin Sheehy follows Susan through her home and 40-year pottery practice on Hornby Island. A self-professed "compulsive maker," Susan shares her process as a producer, how she motivates herself and keeps herself open to new ideas, techniques, and products. Above all, the life of friendship and family she has built in partnership with her creative practice provides an endless source of love, inspiration, and support.
[About Susan Crowe]
Susan Crowe was born on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She attended St. Lawrence Craft and Design College in Brockville, Ontario from 1977-79, before moving to Vancouver, BC to further teach and practice pottery. In 1981 she moved to Hornby Island to do production for Bernard de Aguiar and SeaPeace Pottery. By 1984, Susan opened Cannon Road Pottery, and has been making work under this studio for the past 40 years. Another amazing production. So wonderful to listen to Susan and her philosophy of "just do it". Thank you, Zsofin for these little glimpses into the creative hearts and minds that make up Hornby.
I bought many of your beautiful pots in the 80’s 90’s and 2000’s. They are still my favourite. There is no teapot like the one I am privileged to use daily. And the mugs you custom made for me to go with them are used constantly as well. Your work is beautiful and excellent quality. You are a blessing to the world and the people you touch. ❤😊

Before I saw any movie adaptation of the Lord of the Rings, I went to the Gordon farm. Jim matched my notion of what Gandalf would look like. The garden that he and Pam kept was most certainly magic. Good magic. Pam is absolutely right about the quality of the food they grew. Superb! Thank you Pam! I miss Jim, but I thank him too! Wonderful video! Thank you!
What a wonderful video! Your Mom's work across all media is just beautiful ♥️
