Any issues with the bike?

Thanx for the video, Do you have a link to where you got your proper set of feeler gauges?, I'm asking, as I believe I have the same problem too with my really cheap amazon feeler gauges that I use on my xv1100 :/

Sorry for the bad sound,m it runs really great after the carbs overhaul that included two new diaphragms.

Here's only an example of what the wrong valve adjustment sounds like. I had Chinese feeler gauges that had the wrong numbers on them. Good that the valves had obviously too much play, other wise engine damage can occur pretty fast if too tight. But i didn't ride it after hearing this crazy sound coming from both heads.

My apologies for the bad quality. I've used my Samsung phone to shoot it.

If anybody has problems with carbs, or settings, also anything else, please drop a little message.

It might be useful to point out that you should start at the rear cylinder, which is number one. Turn the engine clockwise and remove the spark plugs that the engine doesn't have to fight the compression. If the valves were totally off, it might be worth to check if the carbs are synchronized My apologies for the bad movie and the bad sound. I'll make a new one soon.

valve clearances and for xv700-1100 for 1984+ from CLYMER Yamaha xv700-1100 Virago 1981-1997 quick reference section (front of book) ISBN 0-89287-692-1 1984+ intake .003 - .005 inch (.07 -.1 mm) exhaust .005 - .007 inch ( .12 - .15 mm)

Is this measure right? Inlet valves 0,10 and outlet 0,15? What is the year of your virago?

I've drilled some more, only 6 mm holes in each muffler and the bike has more power now! I think it ran too rich before and with these changes, it seems to be 100 % tuned. The bike has a TPS, a throttle position sensor that makes it easier to adjust the carbs, which is usually a pain in the ar_e at these bikes.

The bike's now with a Windshield, many parts have been changed and it's running great.

What we've done by now: 1. Oil with filter change, a new fuel filter, new gasoline tubes from the main tank to the reserve tank, new spark plugs, new drive shaft oil, some electrical issues corrected, and a few other things. New mirrors will arrive soon, will put Chrome mirrors on and add a Chrome fuel filter cover.

It's sad that I saw the movie too late. Would love to take one of them. Maybe next time?

You'll love it. That's a very small school, with only 120 students i it. But they'd won the first place, competing with all the prestige schools in this wonderful country.
