When I look at your upload with installation of LIFEPO4 I can see in your newest upload that you have made a lot of changes. Why have you moved around with the batteries? And what have you changed? I have the same boat as you have, and I am thinking to install LITHIUM like you did. I am talking about your upload “Lithium, How we did it for less” I look forward to see your uploads. Hmm.. the epoxy contains no uv filter.. perhaps add some quality polyurethane varnish later to protect your work..

My pump just turns on every ten seconds or so for just a half second. Ive looked over all the pipes for leaks and cant find anything. Im very new to narowboats so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe its time for a new pump since im not sure how old this one is 😊.... ok i just tried closing the isolator just after the pump and it now stays off so i think i need to go over the pipework again. Must be a little drip somewhere

Have you done an update video on the performance of the Ultramarine Anchor. I put one on our boat the 60KG and we love it, we are 30 Ton. I just bought a use 35KG one used as a spare. I found it a price i could not pass up. We will use it as a spare. The flip swivel is excellent, no more pushing the anchor with a boat hook.

PPS. I use or intend to, pretty much a reverse of your Buffer Battery System, with House Bank 1 of say 600 ish ah of AGM,plus engine start, Windlass, and Bowthruster Batteries, never Discharged below 80% Capacity so the Recharge Cycles flatline and never drop = 30 plus years of potential Service Life, then Bank 2 of 4 Li Time 230 ah Plus Lifepo4 batteries ge all of the AGM , and never Disharge them below 50% Capacity to keep Recharge Cycles, never Fast Chargers or Discharge them by Sharing the loads equally between each battery, so none of them even get more than Warm, so AGM =120 amps available, Fully charged Bank 2 Li Time = 460 amps available, with DC to DC chargers keeping all the AGM batteries in tip top and close to Fully charged Condition, and easy to get through long nights with no Solar input. Bank 3 plus Water maker is why I need a bigger Sailboat 😅 Bank 3 is for extra backup and for long term testing of cheap Lifepo4 Batteries, such as say 4 x 100 ah Redodo Batteries, which provide up to 200 amps available for top up help plus emergencies least one of Clark’s Adventure Channel’s Bank Managers to pull it all off though. Unfortunately I can no longer get one as a kit, and will probably have to arrange to meet him in Luperon for him to fit them for me, still, he’s a nice guy, and deserves meals and Rum bonuses as well. Bob. 👍

PS. Alternators with Bodies that have powder Coating, trap and build up heat in them which is why brands like Balmar don’t tend to last long, and blow up external Regulators frequently, so opt for Alternators with Anodised bodies instead, which run much cooler as they dissipate heat better. There is a Marine specked one that is 120 amp for about £199 but I don’t have the Brand handy at the moment , but note, anything 100 amps or over, really needs serpentine drive belts. When using electric windlass, best to run the engine at a decent torque level for power feed at about 1800 rpm depending on engine plus alternator setup, so you aren’t discharging the battery too much, and same for the Bowthruster. Bob.👍

Former finishing guy, here. I have no idea what caused the problems with that varnish. I have not use white spirit as a thinner before, so I'm wondering about that, but without knowing what the solvent base is in the varnish, I'll reserve my judgement. In applications such as that, which are high wear and susceptible to knocks etc, I prefer to use very "soft" clear coats. A good Danish oil is my preferred. The reason for this is that it doesn't chip and allow water ingress like some of the polyurethanes do. Yes, it wears prematurely by comparison, but it's much easier to redress and there's no discolouration of the timber through water marking to deal with. My fifteen-year-old kitchen bench bears good testimony to this, and it is something that I've done professionally with no call backs. For a really neat job with Sikaflex and alike, I spend a bit of time masking up before application. I apply the product, remove as much excess as possible and immediately remove the tape while the product is wet. I then do one more smoothing pass with the finger and it comes up like nothing that you've ever seen. Yes, it's a bit of stuffing around, but you'll look at that job for the rest of your life and pat yourself on the back. Thanks for the content.

Hi ant & cid great to see you crossed safe and sound. Ref gozo marina we stayed there 2 nights after leaving you in silema . To be honest we didn't have much of a problem with the swell there . They did more us alongside inside the end hammerhead and we used there lines. I can confirm the showers simply just don't work !! We are glad we stayed and used it as a base to tour gozo though as it's a lovely place. See you next year perhaps.

What a privilege to be in Tunisia. What a bummer with that varnish. What a lovely finish you have ended with and my guess is epoxy will be harder wearing. I did not know you could thin epoxy. I have some west 105 to seal some plywood to seal as backing for flexi solar panels. Planning to apply it neat but will finish with paint for uv protection. I wish i had half your skills 👍
