Can You Use The Same K Cup Twice? [Full Experiment]
มุมมอง 15K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I was skeptical when I first heard someone trying to use a single k cup pod to brew to cups of coffee. I wanted to put it to the test though. I gave it every opportunity to succeed. I used a dark roast, the smallest setting on the Keurig, and I shook the ground loose between brews. The result was… Well, it tasted like a bold cup of tea. I wouldn’t recommend doing it as a daily habit but if you’...

Your Keurig is Brewing Watered Down Coffee [HOW TO FIX IT]
มุมมอง 143K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The Golden Ratio of coffee grounds to water is 1:15. That’s 1gram to 15 ml of water. The average k cup holds 10grams of coffee. Using the ideal ratio, that means we could only brew a 6oz drink (lowest setting on the Keurig) before our drink becomes watered down. Some ways around this include: - Brew two 6 oz drinks for a bigger drink - Use a Keurig 2.0 with the large k carafe pods - Use a diffe...

I use espresso in my keurig with a filter thing.
Awesome, welcome to the club!
I don't know why but I can fit 6 table spoons in it, I like a little bit of milk and sugar in it, I drink my French roast black ☕
I've been using a mason jar instead of a French press for a little while just because I wanted to mix it up. I do grind mine fairly coarse and let it sit for quite a while, but basically the same method. It could be a good option even if you do have other coffee equipment, especially if you start with good coffee and a good grinder.
8:45 or you can watch the lid wobble... :)
Heard that blade grinder all the way here in Mexico!
Hahaha, love it
My new 2.0 Keurig machine has 5 holes allowing for a stronger cup of coffee. Also the brewing sizes are 8,10 and 12 Oz. Cups. There is a noticeable difference in brewing strength, Finally, your presentation was well done and certainly beneficial to this viewer.
Thanks so very much!!!
I had a brand new in the box, found at goodwill thrift store for $.00.50 . French Press….until I looked in the designated spot, poof!! It magically disappeared along with so many other things when the Tenents were told they didn’t have to pay rent or utilities by some fool in Washington. Even said they were going to pay us back until the Good ole Gov. said. A month ago, You didn’t think we could PAY EVERYONE back , now did you. Yes, Yes I believed you Newsom.
You're as intense as an espresso ☕ haha. This was great fun!
…and that’s where the cost comes in. Labor, niche, high demand, geography. Associating cost with quality, I drank Blue Mountain coffee 20 years ago. While it is a great tasting coffee, I’ve evolved more to Ethiopian coffee
I looks like the refillable uses less coffee. it looks like you crammed that coffee in there, which will cause spillage. The best coffee needs looser grounds. Also, the cup is going to hold less coffee because of the amount of space removed to make room for the puncture needle.
Why have you got James Hoffmans. Hair? Scary. That coffee can still be ground finer with a blade grinder, way too course. 500grams of water or 500ml? Tried James's method properly and it dies give a smoother coffee but its using twice the amount of coffee I normally use. Tried using my usual amount of coffee (half what James uses) letting the coffee steep for just as long but only pusing the plunger down a little like James does. Produced a good cup with very little silt, less bitterness and just as full bodied but my coffee beans last twice as long now.
Great content. Very helpful.
the grinder was an absolute murder
After a ~90 seconds intro, I hear "Just use instant coffee" and "Use a coffee maker that just doesn't need power. Wasted my time, disliked.
sorry coffee won't be hot enough for me
My FAVORITE COFFEE! YUMMY 😋
"What you see is what you get?"
My reason is to just get a couple ounces more on my second go round so I can fill up my 15 oz coffee cup I already get a good flavor using the 10 oz. setting on the first go round but just need a few ounces more of unwatered down coffee to fill the rest of the cup up without having to use a second pod.
Honestly this tastes like shit. Purely burned taste with plastic tones. There are plenty other coffees from Latinoamérica you can get MUCH better than it.
looks watery
I been drinking it for the past 30 years, my parents are Cubans, it something I have to drink every morning, it is very strong but sweet, but very good. Cuban Cafe is the just way to go, and the very Best! ❤
I just brew two pods and make two 6 oz brew cycles. It’s still cheaper than a cup of coffee at a fast food joint much less your favorite coffee joint. Buying your favorite pods in bulk helps keep the cost to under a $1 for good fresh cup of morning coffee.
So if I have a nescafe instant coffee,I can just directly filter it the strainer way ? Or do I have to really ground coarse coffee ?
There is another option, if your k cup has a strong setting. This slows down the water going through the cup. This extracts more coffee flavor from the grounds and doesn't take that much longer to brew your cup of coffee. Easy solution.
I've had it... it taste like ass.
run it twice into 20oz. mug. not being cheap, just don't really care that much.
Be careful choosing a paper towel. Some of the multiply use glue between plies. Might be the reason some brands will streak your shiny surfaces while you clean.
thanks for the info i can get 100cups for $20 at sams that is 20c per cup so if i use 2 for 12 ounces that is only 40c per coffee . . not to bad i think
Cafe bustelo is all I ever drink as far as regular hot coffee goes. It is fairly cheap, but tastes expensive. I bought the can of it, and then I buy the bricks of it to refill it with. I have never tried the instant version of it. I need to though 😋
All coffee is watered down 😂
We were very aware that our new Keurig was giving us watered down coffee...very disapointing! So, I put regular grond coffee through my coffee grinder on the finest setting thinking it would make it stronger. It did make a noticeable difference. However, the water compacted the finer grind resulting in water overflow leaving sludge and grounds in the cup. Next, I tried putting a small square of paper towel over the pod before closing the lid. That successfully solved the overflow problem, but, the grounds are compacted so hard inside the pod, scraping and cleaning it out, is a major job! Way to much work for a cup of coffee! We have tried 3 different brands of coffee and so far Maxwell House on the 8 ounce setting is acceptable, but I think a stronger brand is my next move. Bulk Barn has some nice choices. Thanks for your video!
Buddy... you seem like a nice guy but using that grinder is not the best way to grind these beans. You really need a conical burr grinder to extract the most flavor. Flavor changes dramatically.
Or just use the kettle to brew it in it 😂😂😂
I like mine watery, lol. I can drink a lot without a tummy ache.
Great video, love how you paired it with a doughnut!
YOU'RE GROSS!
all this is is basically pour over coffee made in a French press, stirring and skimming after the initial steep will just muddy it more and not pressing it defeats the purpose of a French press
It’s a great method ❤
I have been using Don Pablo for years because I need to use a low acid coffee. I found that there is a difference between ordering from Amazon and Don Pablo directly: the orders from Amazon taste stale in comparison to the orders from Don Pablo. I have tried 6 different varieties and like the Organic dark roast the best. That specific coffee is available only at Don Pablo. The only problem I have (and it is a huge problem) is there shipping is horrible. My latest subscription order is over 3 weeks late and counting. This is a common occurrence when ordering from Don Pablo instead of Amazon.
I have a french press and I like it. This technique is ridiculous. Using two spoons to take out "floaty bits" is crazy. Just accept that there will be some grounds and get on with your life. Screw James Hoffman, he's a snob.
Better Fix: Get a Mr. Coffee and brew some coffee.
I genuinely don’t know how you expect to be taken seriously among coffee people using a blade grinder. Also the premise of this video is that you did someone else’s method and then it worked? Might want to workshop your ideas a bit more before you shoot.
I just made folgers columbian . Coffee maker but no filters. I put a few of the little napkins for a filter. Brewed like I usually do. I'm happy, and drinking it right now.
Hey everyone so i bought the wrong coffee and come accross this video but what i did was u no the kettle has a filter usually you can pull out at the front i took that out and used it as a strainer worked ok lol, thanks for the advice.
His technique is great in order to achieve a cleaner cup. But the ratio seems wrong to me. 1:17 ratio is way to mild. I've done this with hundreds of grind sizes but I never get to have a nice cup. However, adding more coffee to a 1:12 or 1:13 ratio seems to improve this
Totally agree. I use the Hoffman method to the letter, with the exception that I use 42g of fresh grounds to 500g water, so 1:12. There’s definitely room for individual tastes here. I happen to like a strong cup of coffee!
20 ounces? Try grams
Waaay too much work for a cup of coffee!..
Wow why is keurig so popular then??? Smh. So basically I have to make two cups back to back using twice the amount of coffee. Nice marketing scam. I think I’ll return this expensive hunk of junk and stick with my farberware that has a big honkin reusable filter. 😡
Save yourselves 10 minutes and just watch the original video.
Buy Hario paper filter 02, heat the cup, add 10 gramm coffee per 120 gramm water, add 92C water, stirr for 15-20 sec, wait 2 min, take the paper buy hands to drain - and you have very nice cup of coffee
