@canis.xo.speedruns our clan goes the limited tools route for challenge runs, but it's still not enough. I will forever miss day one escalation of freedom. And before the automaton vision nerf. Where's my game?! This ain't it 😭

@ limited tools is fun, but I feel its less dynamic since with speedrunning you will always have that new WR time to chase. Also day one escalation of freedom was a buggy unfinished mess, although it certainly was quite challenging. A lot of that had to do with the more limited knowledge of the game we had back then though, and not just the more recent enemy nerfs and player buffs. Honestly I think a lot of why the game is too easy is the simplistic objectives and repetitive missions, cant wait for the new illuminate missions to drop

@canis.xo.speedruns the game was always buggy until recently, so I don't think it's a very fair criticism of EOF. There is an element of our skill increasing since then, but the enemy spawnrate, durability, and intelligence has been hopelessly demolished since then.

Consistency and reducing RNG is important in the case of a speedrun. It's a competitive thing where you are going for a world record and if you leave it up to chance its unfair and up to luck who wins. With regards to the deathless thing, personally I don't really mind because I just like to get fast times but yeah ik some people do. We could have maybe done it that way but it probably would have required an even more optimized seed, since our target of sub 3 was basically impossible given the location of radar.

@ All good! I did my first playthrough on maddening so for me its just the game that I know and love. Also I always play FE on max difficulty

Yeah the timer actually starts before you even pop out of the pod. You usually can't gain control until about the 10s mark

The main thing that makes runs like this possible is the consistency of how structures generate in HD2. They are not completely random and are instead chosen from a list of handmade prefab locations. For the past 6 months the speedrunning community has been mapping these out and finding the fastest way to beat each one. Yes that was a core strategy of the run, cutting out walking and driving by using the ATE to snipe most objectives from as far as away as possible. Being able to do that is one of the things that make bots really fun to speedrun

Yes its usually either the back of the Crane fortress variant, or at the top of rocks at the extraction variant with the high cliffs like in my multiplayer WR for this mission.

Almost everything on my channel is pre-scouted unless I say/prove otherwise. It's common for speedrunners to do this since it gives us level consistency which is important for competition
