    To Coppola, Salva being busted by the police for the stuff that he did was just a minor incovenience, he had no regards for the victim who had their life ruined at 12 years old of age, this just shows you what kind of person he really is.

    It's an uncomfortable truth about him. I thought Megalopolis was one of the best movies I've ever seen or at the very least one of the best theater experiences I've ever had. But at the same time it's totally warranted and valid for anyone to write him off after how he treated that abused actor. It doesn't mean the movie itself is invalidated but it is uncomfortable. I love the way Coppola directs but I concede that he was a POS for how he handled that situation, so I have conflicted feelings about it. There's only three facts or realities that did not preclude me from seeing and supporting the movie: 1) after learning what we know about this industry, it's safe to assume many if not all of the biggest names are guilty of not only keeping company with these predators (monsters) but that many of them are guilty of it themselves. The implication being that just because a similar story about say Tim Burton hasn't come out doesn't mean he's innocent, we just don't know (used him as an example because I've seen Beetlejuice recently too. But he's actually friends with POS like Depp who supported a convicted child murderer so there's that). The conclusion I draw from this is that it might be valid to write off Coppola, but would be naieve to continue watchinng other director's movies just because they haven't been caught. 2.) Does not justify the behavior in any way, but he did lose his son a few years before this incident. Maybe that influenced his reaction. AND knowing what we now know, I wouldn't be surprised if his son's accident was a hit, if you know what I mean. 3.) He might've been such a POS about it because he wanted to protect the image of his company. It's also weird too what I've noticed is a particular kind of person from that generation doesn't think pedophilia is a big deal (catholic italian new york type people.) My grandfather who's the same age and comes from the same background is indifferent to these stories and it really grosses me out, I think because their catholicism informs their opinion (go figure) and they're also the types who just turn a blind eye to that sort of thing, as it was a taboo in their time. So it doesn't surprise me at all that someone like Coppola would've been callous about it. Ultimately, your opinion is valid and fair. But to your point -- that's why he financed it himself. Interestingly, the media hates the movie but there's no mention of this scandal. So the only problem they have with the movie is that they didn't understand it, they could care less about this, so they're POS too. (On that note, I found it interesting that IGN mentioned the Jeffrey Jones scandal in their beetlejuice review. I seriously commend them for that. Very surprising as they are a san francisco based lefty publication.) But anyway, it's really too bad. People in America are just so disappointing, apathetic and indifferent to the suffering of others. Kinda ironic or hypocritical that someone like him is concerned with this theme of utopia and unity when he couldn't show a bit of compassion for an abused child. But therein lies the root of his psychology and attitude: he didn't think the boy had been abused. That it was consensual all along. Yuck. No matter how good a movie can be, I guess it's fair to decide these people are just a bunch of freaks and dont deserve our money or attention anymore. The problem is that we keep paying.

    Why? Because Todd Phillips hates super hero films. The first film was supposed to be just a regular movie, disguised as an anti-hero film. It was supposed to dupe the drooling masses into watching high art. In a way, it worked, but not in the way the writer/director wanted. I don't think he expected the comic fanboy love that it recieved. I chalk that up to him underestimating the audience's intelligence and taste. We're not supposed to like it. We're just popcorn chompers who squeal for a man in tights. Depth isn't supposed to be in our character, and yet.... So, the sequel had to go even harder. It had to not only NOT be a world crisis event, NOT feature a masked hero origin and NOT have a feel good ending, but it also had to utterly demolish any inroads made with the comic fanboys. Even if that meant killing off the main character and making it a boring musical with no real plot. Now the film is working as intended. Unfortunately, in order to make the general populous dislike it, it had to be generally dislikable through and through. This means it is no longer high art, but gutter gloop. It won't win any awards. It won't be endlessly discected. It won't be taught in film school. It is a solid turd, because the audience for super hero films are not all drooling dolts with no inner dialogue or higher thought. We do love a sophisticated film, even without all the hero tropes. It failed because Hollywood is salty over the Marvel tsunami stealing the general audience, and egoes must be soothed.

    • @FellasProductions
      @FellasProductions 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely agree with you. His ego lead to him purposely sabotaging this film to prove a point to the comic book fanbase and fans of the first film but it’s only backfired on him. The film is a complete box office bomb and it’s just another bad film in his catalog full of bad films. Clearly the MCU ruined his idea of superhero films but he needs to realise they’re much more than the MCU and can actually be used to tell great stories. He should’ve embraced the love the first film received instead of getting annoyed and purposely wanting to piss off those fans. Also, if you haven’t seen Francis Ford Coppola praised this film which is funny as both of them have now released terrible films that are box office flops.

      @@FellasProductions I really didn't like it, I tried to stay away from reviews before I watched it so that I could watch it with an open mind. But yeah it wasn't good, and I feel the same as you did, it kind of ruined the first one for me. I like King of Comedy and Taxi Driver and I liked how the first Joker drew from those films even though its portrayal of mental health had a lot less depth than the aforementioned films, I still found it to be a super entertaining watch. I love musicals and Ngl, i had to fast-forward a lot of the musical numbers because they were painfully boring and made me shudder and cringe even though they were great visually (I watched it on cam 😬). The assult scene was such an unecessarily dark thing to write into this film, I mostly tuned out after that point. One reviewer said that it was as if Arthur got the Joker R*ped out of him 😭. You know when Arthur laughs and says 'you wouldn't get it'? I feel like that's how Todd Phillips is reacting whilst he sees his movie bomb in the box office, he's already gotten paid and seems to despise comic book movie fans and anyone in general who liked the first Joker film.

      @FellasProductions I saw it in cinema and people walked out. It starts of a bit promising, a sort of surreal black comedy but then it completely loses it's way and becomes unwatchable. At first the audience in the cinema seemed quite engaged and laughing along, and eventually, everyone seemed to tune out. The worst part about the film, is that for the people who like it there isn't much you can say to critique it, as they just respond with 'you don't understand what Ari Aster was trying to accomplish, it's suppose to be surreal' etc, when we actually do understand what Ari Aster was trying to accomplish, and just think the result id unwatchable garbage. It's actually the only movie I ever regret watching to the end. Even if a film is bad I never regret watching to the end, but for this one, I genuinely just want my 3 hours back.

It could be taken that way OR that artists like him will save the dying film industry so long as they get proper funding and creative control. Vanity. These are ALL rich actors and movie business people who care about nothing else but money and self image. They are all shallow and couldn't care less about anyone with less than 10 mil in their bank accounts. Hollywood is the land of pedophiles and money laundering schemes. Even The Godfather which I personally consider one of the greatest films ever made does nothing for society or the people it was portraying. Movies are entertainment and entertainment's purpose is only to make money for those who produce it. As long as money is being made nothing else matters because that's just what's supposed to happen. You go pay to see a movie, you experience a little emotion, then you go home and hopefully get laid by your date. They average movie enjoyer today know nothing about what it takes to make a single film or all the work that goes into every single scene or any of the people involved. Most people don't even know what a director is or what they do they just know they made this movie and they are rich and powerful which is enough to turn a blind eye to any other aspects of their character or lifestyle. I think politicians today are kind of like that too where it's more about celebrity status than recognition over values or effort one might put into passing laws that contribute to society. At the end of the day the rich get richer and the poor stay poor and get dumber.

      @FellasProductions it's so sad because as a movie enthusiast I cannot deny my admiration for the films these people have made and all of the content that has been produced directly inspired by their work. Chinatown is my #1 favorite film but the director is one of the worst human beings alive and I also believe the first two jeepers creepers movies to be completely solid horror films. Its like any time I discover some media that hooks me with it's creativity and craftsmanship SOMEONE involved just has to be a complete piece of shit, or tangentially connected to a piece of shit and make the whole film look bad as a reflection. I'm glad there are still people in the industry that make quality content with little to no involvement from Hollywood elites but let's face it, if you want your vision put into a large film production you need money and people are willing to sacrifice their self respect to make it happen. Everyday it seems I hear someone else is connected to Epstein, Diddy, Trump, Weinstein and more and more. It's like a machine of corruption that takes anyone in and spits them out a dirty, selfish, money hungry loser. Also it's fine you didn't respond TH-cam does that to me all the time.

    I'm so glad that I finally got someone who mentions it cutting away from Marks story and that being annoying (especially in episode 4). The whole time I was just kinda waiting for Mark to get back on, which kinda of undermines the other, also really great but not personally as intriguing to me, bits with Debby and especially atom eve (although those parts of the episode were really good too just personal opinions). If I had to disagree with one point, I'd say that I think you saying that season two didn't feel as well paced is kinda a result of the medium of translating comics to tv, and I think the slower pace is kinda needed after the two huge plot twists in season 1, and it would be destructive to keep trying to top itself. But thats just my opinion anyway. Overall, great video, earned a sub!

    Season one opened and closed with shockingly brutal events that few were expecting to witness. That's not a trick you can pull routinely. Season two would either have to top season one's openning episode, or take a new approach. I think they made the right call. If you watch season one and then immediately begin on season two, I think these first few episodes will hit different. We ended on such a huge high point with massive spectacles and brutal events, and season two starts in a sort of trance, half-dazed and reeling from the impact of season one. Everyone is still coming to terms with reality, and this slow build back reflects that quite well. I still think the animation is shoddy. It does seem to have improved slightly from season one, but that Omni Man montage was practically a slide show. There's a lot of corners cut, but they do up their game for the big effects and fights. It's passable. The show follows fairly close to the comics, though some things are shifted around or altered. The major plot points are more or less hit. The biggest difference is the pace. The comics go by super fast and the show slows way down and explores the story more. The creator said he is basically rewriting the story for the show because he believes he has improved as a writer since the 2000's, when he wrote Invincible. That may also include expanding out the story more and slowing the pace, giving it room to breathe. He may want to avoid jumping in media res, which is why the season doesn't feel like it really starts until episode four.

    • @FellasProductions
      @FellasProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      See I liked the start of the episode where it showed Mark dealing with his life after what happened however I thought the episode slowed down after that and the next episode was mainly filler. Maybe the issue is that I haven’t watched season 1 since 2021 so I was expecting something huge in the first episode. Would you recommend the comic books? I have been tempted by them but I didn’t want to read them in order to avoid spoilers for the show but if he is changing the story then I might give it a go. Still looking forward to the rest of the season as I enjoy the show. It’s definitely in the top end of superhero content recently especially since the most recent thing I watched was The Marvels which was pure hot trash.

      @@FellasProductions I think the comics should be okay to read. The biggest spoiler was Omni Man's true intentions, and we got that in the first season. They're changing enough for the show to be fresh for the comic fans, so I doubt it would cause an issue. Yeah, you may get some inside knowledge. For example, what's up with Donald? Why is he back after being blown up? Or get introdiced to a few characters before the show, but honestly, we're already familiar with most of the big players.
