The KJV Bible is written at 5th grade reading level. Add to your vocabulary, which is terribly wanting in most people, a few words such as begat, thee, and thou, and the KJV is perfectly readable. It is also the most accurate, based on recent manuscript finds. The versions I've read distort the meaning and even leave out whole verses. The ones available online change their texts many times, especially the NIV. The NIV and the ESV used in the video's Bible are both copyrighted, meaning you can't quote much. You even have to specify the version in sermons, if your sermons are broadcast on the internet, or you have snitches in the congregation. BTW, it should be easy to read any book of the Bible in one sitting, as kids had no problem reading the largest of the Harry Potter books in just a few days, even though it was longer than the Bible. I think it's a distraction to have the verses or sentences divided up into very short lines as if it's poetry, when very little of the Bible is poetry. And it's odd that the drop caps are sometimes at the last verse of a chapter, not the first verse of the following chapter. That's really jarring. I have a KJV Bible that fits in my shirt pocket. That's compact. The one in the video has a ton of dead space on the pages. Perhaps he doesn't have the attention span to read more words on a line. Many people suffer from that today, partly because of the decision of TV and movies to cut from scene to scene so fast you don't have time to focus on anything in detail. One large book of the Bible isn't going to take the "rest of your career" to cover. My preacher covered Daniel in a few weeks. I would give you a link, but the church deleted all his sermons after he retired. They also gave my job to someone else who doesn't have the technical ability to do much. We were intelligent enough for hundreds of years to read the KJV, and we saw no "distractions." I am 70 and have always used the KJV and always will. The only Bibles in my house are KJV. I do have electronic versions of others, just as I have digital copies of the Book of Mormon, the Koran, and other failures. The verses I have memorized in my head are all KJV. I can't imagine learning the banal texts of other versions.

I recently recommitted to God . I only have been using bible apps and now feel compelled to now wanting to get a bible . After searching long and hard I have decided to get the Dark Purple Goatskin Quentel ESV. Unfortunately it’s preordered starts in may for July . I got to wait 5 months .

I’m torn . I don’t have a bible . I have been using bible apps. Since I rededicated I feel now compelled to get one . I definitely going to get a ESV translation but not sure between the crosway thineline something else . I do like the royal purple ones but they are different in Terms of lay outs. Any suggestions

Is not the MacArthur study Bible an ESV ?

The bible is a book written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many many years after). It is also heavily edited by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating a number of chapters. In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it. Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves

Not my favorite layout. I don’t really find the verse or chapter numbers distracting and I want the translator notes. The Bible was not written in English so I want to know when reading what the translators had for a passage.

I remember getting an ESV Single Column Reference Bible well over 10 years ago. I still have it. It is not the best quality paper or binding but it is single column verse by verse format with inside column references and a decent outer margin. I absolutely loved that edition and only stopped using it because they have since updated the ESV and I decided that I preferred a sewn binding. (this one being glued). As I wait for the Stridon to come back into print I may have to dig that one back out and see if this is something I want to do. Good video brother. Keep it up.

That's SO FUNNY. I LITERALLY just told a bible reviewer that the thing that is missing from ALL reviews is an up close and personal look at reading and usung the bible to see the little things that make or break a bible .... FYI: There is a ESV Reader's Bible available in a one volume edition. It is currently available in hardcover and tru-tone at a much lower price than the Treveris. It marks the chapter number at the beginning of the chapter but no verse numbers. At the top of the page you are told where the text on the page is located in the book. For example Isaiah 53 starts about one third of the way down the page. At the top of the page it tells me that page covers Isaiah 52:12-53:7. I pray that will help some of your viewers.

I actually like the format of the Thomas Nelson NKJV readers bible better than the Schyuler. The pages are a lot cleaner while still being able to see where you are in the text. It uses a reddish brown ink for the book names at the top of the page and a small reddish brown chapter number on the outer part of the page at the beginning of each chapter. On the inside edge there are small verse numbers every 5 verses. So there is no verse number at the start of a chapter and then one at 5, 10, 15 and so on. It is very generous with white space so it has over 1900 pages with no references, maps, or concordance. I believe they are only made in imitation leather and the price is in the $30 range.

It looks good. I may get one.

Thanks Pastor Hans for this review and the previous video on Dr. Greg Harris' system of Bible marking. I have been on the Evangelical Bible website numerous times trying to decide which premium Bible to purchase. I want one that will accept marking and color-coding and that I can use for preaching/teaching. I prefer the Single Column Reference, but also the Cambriidge style leather covers and the Wide Margin Aquila. So, you've made my decision that much harder! Thanks!

I looked into Dr. Harris' method, even looking at the Facebook page where I learned about his terminal disease. Has he passed, or is he still on this Earth? I knew a man years ago who suffered (actually the whole family did) from this disease and he eventually passed. It didn't take long. My heart grieved for Dr. Harris and his family, so that's why I ask.

One thing that might help is placing a sticky note on the page you were last on with the date and the number of the line you left off from.
