I remember these from my youth. I got into a lot of places back in my youth They didn't have the cameras back then and the guards were on a schedule and I would figure out the schedule and sneak into places. I was one of the very first urban explorers Many of the places that I got into were really crazy A lot of the remote areas they had mechanical door locks that had five buttons and typically they would use three or four of the buttons The number of combinations was less than a hundred and the wear on the buttons made it easy to get it within 30 tries. There were sensors on the doors and as soon as you open the door the sensor sent the signal to the command center which many times was in another state Because they had multiple companies and contractors that would have access to these facilities they had a big sign on the door that said you must call and they had the 800 number that you had to call to check in and you had 15 minutes from the time you open that door before they would send the police And I remember one night I had been in the facility for 20 minutes and I was on my way out and I had a scanner that had the frequencies for the state police that covered that area and I heard the call and I knew I was not going to be able to get out the access road before the trooper got up to me, since he had given dispatch his location, but I knew there was a small access road to another facility on the same road and I drove down the road and pulled into the other road and parked and the trees blocked thr view and I saw his headlights through the trees. I waited for him to check out the doors at the facility I just left and then go back down the road and I waited until I heard him get another call and then I went down the access road. I was crazy in my youth. But I got to see a lot of places and things that other people never got to see. I feel bad for the urban explorers of today because they don't have a chance against all the security now. And now they really don't tolerate the stuff they did back in the 50s and 60s Such a shame Now that I am bedridden all I have are my memories of my youth. Very sad

Hey y'all - quick note as i screwed this up and had to go back in- you should pretension the torsion spring! otherwise the Kickstarter will be kinda loose and floppy. From the manual : "Wind the torsion spring half a turn and hook onto pin" as shown in this video is the correct way to do it. Woops

My dad just found one of these clocks and stations with a key. Cool to know what it is for.
