Yeah it just seemed like a good idea. I made a more standard one with dowel pegs, but I found that it kept snagging on rough sawn wood. The bearings to not completely get rid of the problem, but they certainly make it better. And on planed stock it runs along as smooth as butter :) Have you got a new video coming out soon?

Thank you for the feedback, especially considering you are not into woodworking. I am terrified of being on camera ( Even though I appreciate I was not in this video...) and it is a constant battle to try and do the narration / voice overs without sounding too nervous. Looking into my first glue gun. At the $100ish USD price point, the Ryobi battery or Surebonder Industrial corded with more features both look interesting. I initially need it for planer sled jointing, and now appreciate your comment about using hot glue as an initial bond before properly mounting said piece. Also viewed on TH-cam an acrylic sheet, aluminum rail, adjustable screw height, planer sled that levels a slab without glue and can be made for around $150. What I found interesting there was the ability to raise screws in the middle of the sled rather than only shimming height from the sides. Not entirely sure if that makes such an important difference given that planers primarily reference the bottom edge, but I found it an interesting sled feature to keep in mind nonetheless. th-cam.com/video/Cky5Mv-5840/w-d-xo.html

yes, it took years to heal, technically it didnt cut it off, it split it into two parts, they stiched it back together anddid a good job. I regret being so cheap, it would have cost me a few bucks for the thin strips.@@RCHandmade

Quick question... Could you not have used a plastic runner and avoided the expansion risk concerns?

Hi Stuart, you are dead right. I did not have any suitable plastic on hand when I made this Jig, But it certainly would remove any possible chance of the runner expanding. I will see how this one goes, and if it does swell over time then I will replace it with a plastic one. Really appreciate your input!

Not at all, many oil finishes will recommend cleaning with white spirit before application to make sure the surface is clean. Depending on how much you put on, it should evaporate off pretty quickly.
