    Experienced drivers take the Cascadia because they know they're the most efficient with the most shops all over the country which translates to money in your pocket. Super truckers take the others because they don't know any better or they're making enough money for it not to matter. I've owned both and as you found out the T680s seem to always have alignment issues so you're buying more tires.

    • @RidingWTyler
      @RidingWTyler 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've already known about t680s and their issues, driven many t680s before. I prefer Cascadias for that purpose specifically, but they did not have one with less than 480k miles. I wanted 380-420k miles on it.

    I have a question about Swift. Is regional or dedicated in just certain regions? Such as, I am from Texas. I would like to stay in the south or mid-west. Is this possible with Swift? Would this be possible as a company driver? Good luck with driving a bus. I did for many years. CDL Prep is a great way to study for all the different CDL test. I just added tanker and hazmat. Every question the dmv asked me was on that app. Thank you for any help.

    • @RidingWTyler
      @RidingWTyler หลายเดือนก่อน

      Swift has regional and dedicated in many areas; however, it will be more available depending on your location. I have noticed with Swift that they usually do not push you away from your home much, especially if you go home weekly because they want to make sure to get you home on time, so I do not think you will be far from Texas for the most part. For example, I live in Michigan and rarely ever left the Midwest. You probably will stay around the southeast or central US for the most part (unless you run a dedicated or regional, which they do have out of Texas). Thank you for the good wishes! I just finished my CDL prep and received my CLP for my endorsements. I am now just waiting for my drug test to come back for me to start the training process.

      The #1 thing that helped me was DMV Genie Android - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dto.ee.dmv.genius&hl=en_US iOS - apps.apple.com/us/app/dmv-practice-test-genie/id513850893 There is also a website that helps a lot: www.cristcdl.com/ and this is what I am using now for my endorsement tests for Lamers. With those it is almost guaranteed to get your CDL Permit first try. For my actual CDL Testing, these are what helped me significantly! Here is a in-cab inspection (uploaded after I got my CDL, but it actually is better imho): th-cam.com/video/1bG0FySJEls/w-d-xo.html And then for the pre-trip before the in-cab (also uploaded well after my test, but is better overall): th-cam.com/video/4gSA-xKpj4w/w-d-xo.html With those resources it should be very easy for you to get through your testing, especially if you pay attention during your classes, and actual practice of the pretrip with and without instructors. The school I went to I did a lot of additional practice with a group of people I became friendly with. Feel free to ask any more questions if you have any!

    Point blank. The planners still hold and control your $. Every truck has a gross limit, even "owner operators." I think they cap everyone @ 2,500 miles MAX or unless you run a hot lane, they'll cut you even shorter because your truck made enough for the week. They'll then start feeding other trucks for their minimjm gross.

    • @RidingWTyler
      @RidingWTyler 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3,000 miles was more than doable here, but even at that; you don't make much. For you to make more than a company driver you need to surpass 2,500 miles... And that's quite crap. Just curious what the pay rate for that intermodal account as an owner operator is? Weekly average miles too?

    • @RidingWTyler
      @RidingWTyler 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll give a little perspective/comparison on it. Intermodal is $1.15 for empty and OTR was 0.85 Loaded is $1.26 and OTR was $1.15-1.36 75% of OTR loads are around $1.15-1.19 and around 10-15% are $1.27 with the rest being a mix being over $1.27. Intermodal pays a flat rate for empty and loaded, regardless of miles. They also give a rate of $150, I believe, for local runs on top of your mileage. They said company pays $1,400-1,700 and owner pays $2,200-2,700 (remember to take 30% and if you want healthcare take about $130 a week) They don't give mileage because they have additional pay, and it's like 99.99% drop n hooks, rarely; and they emphasized rarely, do they ever get live loads or unloads. Drivers I have talked to have said the pay is not bad and you CONSTANTLY are running. As in booked with loads for 2-3 days at a time. I'll update more as I actually get into it. On my way to Gary Indiana to switch trucks and go intermodal (regional) as a company driver.

    • @RidingWTyler
      @RidingWTyler 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Question 1) No, unless you go company driver. Otherwise, if you don't drop at a trade terminal it's a 2k fee for transportation and a 800-1,200 dollar fee for detailing (regardless if it's a trade terminal or not, but you don't pay if you go company). Question 2: I will make a video on that right now, I'll try to explain the load board and focus primarily on the loads. Quickly tho, it depends almost entirely on state and what is available that day. Nothing is shown if loads are not due for the day of search. There could be loads tomorrow, but you see nothing today because they lock it to only the day of. On the east, it's very spotty. It's really only got freight in the mid-west down to around Tennessee and Arkansas. Most loads from Arkansas seem to go to Florida.

      1) That's how swift operates. It's mileage pay, not percentage. So, no matter what I would have taken; it would have paid the same. 2) This is not accounting for a fuel surcharge of 0.41 cents p/ mile. That load ended up being around $1.6 p/ mile. I ended up having profits of 1.4k (settlement) that week with 2k miles (went for maintenance so I was out 3 days).

      If you go to Swift, it depends on the account. You would probably be between .47-.54 (sliding pay) if you do OTR. On a dedicated you can be more like a strict .53-.60 depending on account. I would say, for your first year, don't expect great pay; usually doors open at 1 year for decent pay. Just hammer down until then and you'll be set!

      I'm surprised they took me then, I don't breathe all that well.

      I've been making 1k-1.4k take home (after all expenses and taxes). Not great, but not terrible. I definitely am looking for better, but my area makes it hard. I might have something lined up with GP Transco tho. Pay of .62 CPM and a g-pay of 1,250.
