Learn how to make a DIY longboard! This was a really fun and relatively easy DIY project that's woodworking focused. We made a simple, hardwood board with no complex curvature to show how easy it is to make a longboard yourself. Whether you're a longtime skateboarder like Jay, or brand new to it like Jaimie, you can definitely make something yourself that is great looking and fun to ride.
A longboard is a long skateboard that is great for cruising and more relaxed riding. There are different types and all kinds of shapes and sizes like cruisers, downhill boards, etc. We chose to make a pintail shape, based on a really neat design from the Fibreflex series by Gordon & Smith. With nice big wheels from Orangatang and smooth bearings from Bones REDS, and the Sidewinder II Gullwing trucks, this thing rides like buttah!

I'm inspired, but at 72 I don't think I'll make one. I would have loved it 30 years ago though.
Is there a way to do this with a cellphone? Like make my cellphone look like a magic mirror? Edit: I work the Renaissance faire as a witch but I cant use my phone and thought it would make an awesome use as a prop and an awesome phone cover.
Question: if your planning to plant fruit and veggies, is it best to leave out the plastic layer?

Great tutorial!
I have a couple of questions. First, how long is it? Second, and I’m honestly just wondering, why use cedar 2x4s when you paint over it with exterior paint? Again, I’m not trying to be a smart Alec I just want to know the reasoning over going with pine since it’ll be protected with exterior paint.
Cedar is moisture/rot resistant, pine, even if painted, is not. The paint will wear and wick the moisture=rot

I think what would make it better is to add a sensor so it knows there is motion and then itll turn on. Because it being on all the time cant be good for the monitor

You can sharpen your drill bits with an angle grinder. It's worth it. Also use oil for drilling metal

Just because he used some extra tools doesn't mean they're all a necessity to build the planter, a lot of them are just a convenience. I was able to build a similar planter and only own about $500 worth of tools.
@@kylharp6208 We get emails all the time from people who tackled this as their very first woodworking project with minimal tools, as shown in the video. One lady even built it in her kitchen. You got this, you can totally build it! Thanks for watching!
My planer was $250. My table saw was $300. My drill was $99. My sander was $150. Their pocket hole jig is better than mine, but mine was $50. That is a really long ways from $50k. And you can build a whole lot of nice stuff with it.

question, I've seen skateboards made with plywood, but I also saw one made with maple. the plywood is supposed to hold the concave bend but does using a single piece of wood have the same effect?
