The second ling you shot was nesting. The big males sit on the eggs to protect them. Those eggs are wasted now. Don’t shoot the nesters.

Nice reds--Sad not a single abalone, urchin, sea star, limpet-not even in the holes. Plenty of otters though

37.9 lb State record? YGTBKM. I've seen many many 45 -60 lb Lings hanging in Van Damn State park back in the 60-70's. I giot a 43# Ling off the farallons on a party boat out of Richmond, CA, back in the 1980's

What speargun did you use.

Sheepshead fish are vital for maintaining the health of our reefs. I also remember years ago a fellow spearo saying they are about as much sport as shooting your pet dog…which is true if you hunt any of the local gamefish such as White Sea Bass. Nice Rubber Lips Perch at the end of the video. I don’t know anyone that eats Opal Eye Perch. The video is well done, I would encourage all hunters to be selective in what they take, sadly our reefs are nothing compared to what they were 20 -30 years ago

There’s something creepy about kayak and spear fishing looks fun but idk . Your under water and you turn around and a giant white seabass is looking at you like dinner I’d be freaked out .
