Benchmade sheath forthe puukko is garbage plastic lined leather… knifewise: best imo that is out there!
nice job.
It’s an ok knife… nothing impressive… good value. Better off with moras
@@Thewiseone1993 100%
Most used and loved piece of gear….certainly my Hennessy hammock and my Helinox chair. Both go with me whether car camping or backpacking overnight. Aeropress and Gregory Zulu 40 backpack are favs.
@@deacondavidviscount7579 I've been looking to upgrade my cheap backpacking chair to possibly the Helinox or the REI version. I'm guessing it's worth the price?
BPS doesn't impress me at all. They are bad designs. Small handles for tiny hands. Soft steel that belongs on garden tools, not knives. Inconsistent fit/finish. Leather sheath that is not pure leather but some kind of composite. Again, not impressed with this company and their product.
@@LXT43 after carrying the Bushmate off and on for awhile I feel the same way. There are better options out there, Condor comes to mind. I like to rotate between my Mora and Tops knives for bushcraft. Hardly ever reach for the BPS.
To in a zipper bag …never been camping or in the wilderness without some even 20 years in the Army . If it goes in it comes out. And something to dig with. Have fun stay safe.
@@kennethwilson8633 thanks for chiming in!
Really don't understand why so many push silky. Everyone ive seen has a broken blade. I personally like the corona its better in everyway especially price. I use alcohol and a twig stove. I don't like gas because it's impossible to know how much fuel you have. As far as flashlights i use Sofirn or thrunite great affordable quality lights.
@@richardhenry1969 my Silky saw is the only saw that I've owned that hasn't bent or broke but yes, they are pricey! I use a twig stove as well but typically for short/bushcraft outings. I like using both!
@forestadventureswithscott8777 that's interesting. I bet I've seen at least 5 or 6 with broken blades. To be honest they were the bigger blade I believe 7in or 10in.. maybe size has something to do with it?
@ that makes sense. This 5 inch blade would be hard to break. It's only useful for small cuts anyway. Good for processing wrist sized wood for a small fire while hiking or backpacking and some cleanup on the trail with definite limitations. I have a larger saw for around the house. Probably 12".
Agreed on the sofrin flashlight, great quality and amazing output. I have had a silky saw (gomboy) for 6 years and have never had an issue. The blades are very thin which will cut through anything like butter, but the thin blade does have its obvious drawback… If you abuse it and don’t use it right, it will snap the blade. I have a a couple of saws and the silky is the best.

Stainless steel water bottle to purify water
@@suebrand4606 I use a Sawyer to purify water. If I don't have that with me I've used my stainless steel pot a few times.
Thank you for your honest review, watching from Edinburgh Scotland. If it is not broken, why fix it, work for you and that good enough :)
@@drussthelegend269 cheers! What a wonderful city, Edinburgh! My wife and I visited many years ago.
My favourite way to sleep outdoors is in the Amok hammock. It is a hammock that you lay perpendicular to the trees you string up on. It uses a sleeping pad and it is so comfortable. It is like sleeping on a cloud and great for side sleepers.
@@jonhughes4550 that is awesome.
I am more of a bushcraft guy than a hiker so I like a bigger saw. My favourite is the silky 390mm Zubat. It is slightly bigger than the bigboy and the pistol grip is way more comfortable in my experience.
@@jonhughes4550 I'll have to check it out! I'm looking to upgrade to a larger saw.
@ the zubat also comes in the 330mm I have both because I am a gear junkie. lol. I forgot to mention the zubat is also significantly lighter than the bigboy. Definitely worth checking out.
@ will do. Thanks for the suggestion!
I’ve used a Jetboil for awhile, but just got a Pocket Rocket 2. My Silky Big Boy is well used.
@@jeffclark8555 I'm probably going to purchase the 2 very soon.

@@NoNotThatPaul they are great. I'd like to add a bigger one to my kit for sure.

So....? What did the dealer do and did they fix your problem? (more important - did they do it under warranty?)
@@jeffforsyth6292 the dealership replaced the park sensor. The warranty for that specific issue was extended. You'll need to reach out to your local Subaru dealer and provide your vin # to see if your vehicle is still under warranty.
*Compared to this clone ESEE looks like a cheap Pakistani knife. ESEE is nothing special. It produces cheap knives from ordinary steel at an exorbitant price.*
@@user-ww4od4jl1f , I wouldn't necessarily say they produce cheap knives, overpriced yes, but not cheap. I own the Izula 2 and the 5 and even though I don't consider 1095 a great steel it's definitely tough. The micarta scales and the fit and finish are pretty good.
@@forestadventureswithscott8777 *I have 2 ESEE knives and I will never buy one again. One has polished micarta and is about right. The other has light micarta and gets dirty "from looking at it". Both have blued blades, which is better than painting them with paint. ESEE owners know everything better. I would gladly paint them with tar, cover them in feathers and chase them down the street for their stubbornness and thoughtlessness. I will never buy a knife made from railroad iron again. We live in the 21st century.*
@@user-ww4od4jl1fi agree. Essee is nothing special. This 25$ knife is BETTER than essee 125$ knife.
@@redrustyhill2 *That's exactly how it is. Some people have to learn the hard way.*
Have you ever tried chop sawing a ~4” log into 1-2”+ disks to see if that slows down the burn and radiates more heat? (After you get going with smaller twigs, of course.) I just scored one (new in package) at a thrift store today and can’t wait to experiment with it, cooking, more heat, and slower burn…
@@nancyclayton6535 that's a great suggestion! I'll have to try it. That's one of my hang ups about these small twig stoves is that you have to constantly fuel the fire to keep it going. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thats weird mine strikes on a ferro, but i dont have that one ..i got the B1 1066 steel ..havent had a problem, i do however always have a stainless for a firecraft knife..i have the bs1 for fire crafting..works well ..
@@gimmedahhcookies4341 yeah, I'm not sure if it's maybe the heat treat or the spine just isn't sharp enough. I'd never seen a 90degree spine roll. I borrowed a friend's Adventurer in 1066 and it threw sparks well.
very helpful, thanks
@@MiroslawCierucha glad to hear it.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🍂🍂🆒🆒
The clone is better than a real deal because of the DC53 steel is way better than 1095 steel
@@ThirdoptionJCSU I'm starting to realize this. I have several blades in 1095 and the dc53 definitely holds an edge longer.
I have 2, keep one in my little tool box. (What my called his honey-do tool box.) Other in glove box.
I have one and it came razor sharp and holds it's edge.

@@forestadventureswithscott8777 sounds good, buddy!
Been carrying & using mine for months now, zero issues so far.
1066 is actually tougher than 1095. 1066 is a proper axe steel.
Hi there, I also own the Kansbol in the orange and also the Companion stainless in fluorescent orange. Both great knifes. Also the belt loop is real leather as stated on Mora's web site. I would have no problem recommending these knifes to anyone, awesome bang for the buck. I do prefer the stainless as I live in the UK were it rains more than it shines and also am in a costal location and we all know what salt water does to carbon steel.
🔪🔪👍🏼👍🏼
How much water sources did you see?
@@brad2642 I only hiked the ridgeline, so no water sources at the top of the mountain but if you hike the whole loop there is a creek on the lower portion of the trail.
Scott, great to meet you. We should have done a duo close on both our videos. Hanging Rock got about 12 inches of rain the day of the storm. Winds weren't too bad. I do the tower hike every couple months or so, up those steps. Try to get in 4 to 8 miles up there weekly. Enjoyed your video. ☕️☕️🎶🎵🎶

Rubberized may feel better, but it's not near as durable.
You want a Tad shorter BPS with a full flat grind, that cuts like a Laser out of the Box, making it an even more all around type use Knife, try out the BPS Savage.

Yes, good idea. Are the screws still long enough?
@wekoweko71 yes. They screw into an aluminum sleeve or coupling, if you will. So there is some room.

The gk is absolutely fine for batoning.
Flat grind always beats scandi grind.
@@to_the_wilderness for me it depends on the task. I like using a flat grind if I plan on cooking at camp. Definitely a good general use design. But, I like to carve wood and for me the Scandi grind is definitely superior for those type of tasks.
