Henrietta Maria of France | England’s Sophisticated Queen
Henrietta Maria was the youngest daughter of Henry IV of France and Marie de’ Medici. She became the Queen of England when she married Charles I in 1625. The young Queen had a difficult time adapting to life at the English Court, especially considering she didn’t share their religion. During her time there, Henrietta Maria leaned on her household and Ladies in waiting. She was witty and a 17th century fashion icon, which, by casualty, caused her to rack up quite a bit of debt. Henrietta Maria is forever remembered as one of England’s most sophisticated queens.

Her, over the top childhood of "excessive things" cause her years of misery in adulthood. Six priests...that's someone's obsession, projected on her & only contributed to her being an outsider.

Mary Todd Lincoln's shopping addiction was a symptom of PTSD, as were the rest of her "oddities". It started with the loss of her mother at a young age. Abe was one of the very few people who understood her oddities, depression and frustrations as he suffered from many of them himself. The early days of their marriage was rough at times, not just Abe's long absences from home, but they sometimes argued and lost their patience with each other, yet at the end of the day their shared losses, PTSD, and underlining love for each other actually brought them much closer together rather than apart. They were perfect for each other. After so many loses in her life, especially after losing her husband and her youngest son being the last straw, she naturally never really recovered. She thought her only surviving son Robert betrayed her by having her commented to a luxury asylum. All he was trying to do was keep his mother from committing suicide after a failed attempt at jumping from a window and it was on the advice of her doctors. He didn't know what else to do, he was just trying to save his mother. Non the less, it did serve as somewhat of a wakeup call to Mary and prevented her from completely losing her mind. At least she found some happiness in her last years living with her sister and with her grandchildren, whom she saw regularly despite her estranged relationship with Robert. They forgave and reconciled with each other before her death. If only doctors, Robert, and even Mary could've known then what we know now. Not their fault. They did their very best.

One of her (Marie Antoinette) biggest mistakes was to have all the renovations done, while the King was financing the war (American Revolution) in the United States. Although, the King did not raise funds via taxation, nevertheless, the people were outraged that their sufferings were insignificant by him.
