I just gave in to peer pressure and joined the KAL... I had plenty of yarn to play with and I liked the ripple waterish start. So, picked out a beachy water pallette.... Then out of nowhere your podcast popped up! It's like my phone was watching me pick yarn🤔. I was afraid to click play😂. But glad I did and you gained a new subscriber😊. Love your color choices and it's just fun to listen to everyones take on Stephen's clues.

I love the artistic expression of what your MKAL is reminding you of with Monet and the storms and impact on the people. Many people deeply carry the memories of what we were doing as we crafted something. If you liked that book by Erik Larson, I've read most of his books and they all are fascinating. 'In the Garden of Beasts:Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin' and 'Dead Wake' are two of my favorites. Thank you for showing your Clue 1 for the MKAL. I'm excited to start Clue 2 later today.

Oh Stephen 47, as you were taping this vlog I was celebrating my 70th birthday with our wonderful family. Age only means something to people who make time a big deal. Yea! Your Geo shawl looks fabulous! Agree with your assessment of a dark boarder vs the brighter option. I also took a long time finishing. Knit up two that went into hibernate during shawl 1’s dip stitch. Finished in May and July.

german podcasts : Kikos podcast (she has both english and german, weekly podcast) and Willow knits (english title but in german) for french I watch sometimes Yarnflakes, she started in english but now mostly in french. I like what she makes but not her style of talking, so I will see if I can find some better recommendations in the comments. I seen already some that I will try, main reason for me is also to keep up with foreign languages. greetings from belgium, and Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday!! I am also feverishly trying to finish my Geogradiant Shawl from last year. I have a kit from Stephen and Penelope waiting for the MKAL cast on day. This is the first year I've bought a kit but decided it was time to treat myself and maybe it would inspire me to finally finish an MKAL on time (or close to on time). I watch Tejereningles podcast with Belén Fernandez. I used to be a Spanish teacher and I hope watching her channel will help me keep in practice. Love your Geogradiant and your brioche shorts. Gonna watch the MKAL as a spectator this year because I decided to devote the time to sweater knitting, but I'm just as excited to see everyone's yarn choices and shawls being created. I picked out some yarn just in case I change my mind later though, haha.

My design muses are Thea Colman and Caitlin Hunter - Thea for the endless earthy cables, and Caitlin for the modern yet timeless colorwork. I always get a bit burnt out in summer, but as the weather turns cooler, I spend more and more time with my projects! I always appreciate hearing your thought process, following your travels, and the occasional tight shirt. Thanks!

Happy Belated Birthday! Your Geogradient looks awesome. I'm still on the first side of clue 3. I have not chosen colors for this year yet. I am trying to gather yarn for a dress for my nephew's wedding in February. My stash is intimidating me for both projects. Yikes. Time is going so fast. I decided I can go back to saying half birthdays. I am now over 65 1/2. Jeesh. It goes so fast. Good to see you.

Geo Gradient looks great. Sometimes, I watch "It is a Sarah" in Dutch. She also has an English language version. Dutch is the only other language I really can speak, but I think I could probably get along with a German one.

Cloknits has a great French channel, I watch her English podcast, and occasionally pop over to the French channel for instructional videos. I used to follow a few Russian podcasts, but now they aren’t active channels anymore. I need to find new ones cause my Russian is getting rusty. One year I’ll make it over to Rhienbeck, but it’s a bit of a trek from Alaska and I think I’d be the only one that could stay the whole day without getting bored. I barely got an hour out of my kiddos at my local fiber festival this summer.
