เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ก.พ. 2024
Now with weekly livestreams on Thursdays at 9:30am PST!
Orthodox Family Life is a podcast for Orthodox Christian women. We will discuss all kinds of topics of interest to traditionally minded Christian women including embracing womanhood and motherhood, loving and supporting our husbands, raising and educating our children, guiding our teenagers, caring for our elders, and so much more. With 30 years of struggling to live an Orthodox life and 20 years of homeschooling, I hope to share my experiences and the experiences of other seasoned Orthodox Christian women as we all struggle to build Orthodox culture in our own hearts, in our families, and in our communities. God bless you!

Christ is Trying to Give You Something Better- Trials and Being Stripped of Our False Identity
มุมมอง 15921 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today I am sharing two difficult periods in my life where I felt like God was stripping me of who I thought I was. It was painful. I was raw. It didn't make sense at the time. But I learned to trust God, that He was trying to give me something better, trying to show me who I really am. I just had to align my will with His, no matter the cost. I hope you find this helpful.

I should have mentioned that this is NOT a sponsored post. I don't receive money or free books. I truly love these titles and think they belong in every Orthodox home!

Thank you so much for your Channel! And for not debating 🤗 it feels very peaceful. I would love Information on visiting monasteries 👍
Thanks for the encouragement! I was just thinking this morning that I should do the visiting monasteries videos soon. Hopefully it will post in the next two weeks.

Hard to listen to as a mom with a baby, brought tears to my eyes hearing about the pain of those mothers. It's a comfort to remember that innocent babies lost are with God ❤
It is a very difficult reading. I posted it as part of the Christmas narrative, but I did pause before posting it, asking myself what the benefit was to such a devastating story. In the end, I posted it because it is the truth and part of the story of God becoming Man. It is easy to make Nativity like a Hallmark movie, but the truth is that there was an element of loss, weeping, and tragedy to the story as well. I think we lose something if we forget the innocents. Definitely made me think of the mothers I know who have lost children. It is a comfort to know they are with God, and I think that is why people love the icon above so much. ❤
@OrthodoxFamilyLife yes that's something I love about orthodoxy, that we don't pretend suffering isn't real. And we acknowledge people's pain in this life. I've learned it's an important part of healing

I have a love for the punk rock to orthodox pipeline. I wasn't really punk rock, I think I was a bit late for that, but I was 90's / early 2000's alternative. By the Grace of God I found the True Church. Glory to God. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Glory to God!
Is there a book that you would suggest to know more about this wonderful saint? Thanks a lot.
@@hildegardisverusckarocha6326 I think the book Orthodox Alaska, written many years ago, would probably have the most information about her.
BTW DO U CELEBRATE 2m or in July?
I don't know what you mean?
oh I get it. In July!
I really was moved by this. Thank you 🙏🏻
Isn't it beautiful!
This channel is really a blessing to me. I am just looking at Orthodoxy and this is really helpful. Thank you.
Hi there. Glory to God! It encourages me to hear that it is helpful. I will start the Q&A livestreams about Orthodoxy, parenting, or homeschooling in early jan. These are specifically for women and the other people in the chats are very friendly so you are welcome anytime. Christ is Born!
wow what a treasure, thank you I wish I could listen to more Orthodox lives of the Saints like this one
Yes, this was an excellent read, wasn't it. So instructive for our days. Are you looking for a certain type of saint life? I typical read ones about women saints, family saints, or stories that have some connection to family life.
I have a play list called" the writings and lives of the saints", so far I have about 14 videos but God willing I will continue to add to it.
So many distractions in the last couple of days! News, scandals, gossip... Let everything else fall to the wayside and marvel on the Mystery! Christ is Born, friends!

God bless you and yours! This is powerful! So grateful to God for giving us His Saints to stand by us and offer answers, solutions, peace, protection and most of all - love. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
So I’ve been here a year now and I’m thinking of “co-op” for adults -everybody can share their skills! still haven’t quite decided to how it will play out-butbut thinking/working on it ! Some ideas like you ferment/can - I sow-I bake etc
Sounds fun, let's talk details after Nativity
Christina send me a pic ( via text) of that scarf it sounds beautiful 😉
no. 😂 I am not begging for one, just for the record! I just want my husband to read my mind and get me the exact one I want. Totally reasonable.
@@OrthodoxFamilyLife lol I wasn’t gonna buy you one I just wanna see what it looks like it sounds beautiful🤣
Even tho we say we don’t want a gift ..I think it’s thoughtful to get each other something small but special AND useful ..
I am ok with it being not super useful. For instance, when I have fresh flowers at home, it puts me in a good mood for days and days, but I wouldn't call it "useful".
OH my goodness! Yes please provide a list for the readings to decorate our jesse tree.
I will put the link for the original project in the description. I forgot to do that! It would be a fun group project to make the ornaments together for several families.
We definitely weirdos 😂
😂 in the best sense of the word!
Wow... thanks for the shout out... we love your show and think its an important place in the online Orthodox world
ditto, Mano
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas Post!
Amen 🙏 on the children

9:00 This is so me. I would jokingly say "deeee-monic!" at so many things my kids started to say "mom, not everything is demonic!" And I'm like yes it is.😅 I don't know if it's cynicism but I think today with everything being so influenced by evil, it's just "having eyes to see" But I try not to be too black pilled bc I know Christ has defeated them all 🙏🏻☦️ Glory to God
The struggle to hold the truth of what is happening in the world and Christ's victory over it all IS REAL! "Christ is Risen and the demons fall!"

Hey thanks for listening. It is short but really powerful!
Thanks
Wow, this is great, thanks for sharing

What a great reminder to see our struggles and hardships as gifts from God...this fits so perfectly with your last video about God has something better for us...and so true with many of my own challenging experiences along the way. Sometimes in the moment its not so easy or clear to see and know the deeper purpose and bigger picture as to why we are faced with such adversity of loss, pain and sorrow...God knows and always has our best in mind. Thank You for sharing this big little gem of wisdom
It is a beautiful piece of encouragement isn't it and yes, it goes well with the last video. You are right that it is so difficult to see God's will in the moment. I find hearing the stories of the saints really helps me to put my own struggles into context. It is like we can borrow their faith and patience, to help us stay faithful through our own struggles. Can you imagine reading this in jail? Or writing this to someone in jail? It shows a beautiful connection, love and trust between two people.
Not nec at a time mark like 10-15 yrs but def when presented with several trials at once
